he says he will listen if the Suns call him about the job. What do you think about him being a GM? He wants a challenge and isn’t scare of risks.

Barkley is a really funny person to listen speak just because he does not realize that half of what he says is hilariously ridiculous… but as a GM Barkley would…umm… I would feel very very sorry for their fans.

    Fat Chance!!!
Only when the Fat Lady Sings…
    Barkley is too tempermental ..
If he dont like what he sees in practice he might punish them by making them do laps around him…

    Thats a Terrible Idea!!
    Just Terrible!!!

Barkley knows hoops…but I don’t know, he sometimes is really out there with his ideas and such. Plus, when he speaks you never know what he might say, whether he is joking or not. He could be a public relations nightmare.

hes hilarious but people wrongfully dont take him seriously enough. Dep down he has a very intelligent basketball mind and I feel it would be a good move. just my opinion though.

I’m sure he would need people to help him with the technical details of being a GM, but I think that he would have the drive to make them a better team.

He would just be like all other GMs and pursue lebron. Why?

Honestly it wouldn’t be that bad if Amare leaves, nash is getting older, & they’re not getting any better so why not take a chance on maybe a 2 yr contract with sir charles, at a minium it would go over great with the fans & the city to have someone like chuck in a position of power, it would be very entertaining to watch & Chuck knows B-Ball, I know he’s crazy but he might be exactly what they need.

yup exactly. I wouldnt mind losing amare if we get someone serviceable in return. even S&T for Scola and Battier. Thatd be perfect.

Whether you like him or not the guy knows a lot about the league and has said that he eventually wants to be a GM and players would want to come play for him or at least consider him regardless what team he worked for. It would take an owner with some big balls to hire him as a gm though and a strong supporting cast because he could become the NBA’s Matt Millen.

You do know that he has had immense financial trouble in the past right? And you would give that guy your checkbook?

Being a good GM takes more than just knowing the game. I really think Barkley likes his job now, and would be an awesome guy to have upstairs, like a V.P. of basketball operations, or a Bill Parcells, Pat Riley type role. But I want my GM to be a nerd with enough savy rather than a savy guy who is going to put you balls deep in the luxury tax.

But what do I know, I don’t own a team.

Barkley liked to gamble and lost money…I dont think he’d mess up being GM due to money related issues, he’d love it too much and take it seriously. Honestly i think it’d be a chance you would have to consider..he knows ball and he wouldnt be afraid to pull the trigger on a controversial deal, something that the No Balls Association (thanks Simmons) needs more of.
