OldSkoolBasketballParticipantcome on man last year they drafted point guards and this year draft they got Wesley Johnson and traded Babbitt for Webster. Now they are looking to get Rudy Gay? Why need so many SFs?

TRC1991Participantthey should focus on dealing jefferson out instead of trying to bring in gay right now

butidonthavemoneyI like where Minnesota is going…
All of their current wing players (collectively) are athletic, can shoot, can pass and can defend. When Ricky Rubio comes over, he will have an army of role-players at his disposal. Johnny Flynn is no scrub in his own right. Not the leader Rubio is, but he can score, pass and run as well. Then you look at Kevin Love, who I think is a very special player, and all of a sudden the T’Wolves look to be in a great position.
Their biggest weaknesses last season were shooting and defense. They improved in both of those areas in this draft. If they get lucky next season, they could also be looking at Harrison Barnes…
I am not a fan of Jefferson though. If they can move his contract, they need to. Rudy Gay doesn’t make much sense either. He won’t sign with the T’Wolves anyway.
They still need an athletic center who can block shots. Maybe this summer in free agency…

Bobby_ZParticipantIt smells the sign and trade Gay for Jefferson. Not sure Memphis will accept though, considering they have Zach Randolph.
But they have to add another SF in that trade because if not they will be crowded on the wings, especially if Bjelica comes. But which one ? Brewer ? W.Johnson ? Hayward ?

whyyouhatingParticipantHe wants to sign David Lee and trade Jefferson. You trade a good PF and replace him with another.
I like Lee better but I won’t sign him if I was Minny because I have Love, cheaper and younger.http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5344931

WrecklessParticipantBut heres the thing. Rubio isnt coming over…. Nah im just kiddin’. Minnesota needs a defensive minded center, Not David fucking Lee.

WizardofOzParticipantThe T-Wolves should focus on trading either Al Jefferson or Kevin Love, because those two are not getting it done on defense. If they trade one of them, then they should focus on getting a defensive-minded center, like Brendon Haywood.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantIf Minnesota has ageed to terms with Pekovic for 3-$13 million, then they won’t have enough cap space to do a straight signing of Rudy Gay. They’d only have about $7 million in cap space if they were to renounce their UFAs, so any pursuit of Gay would be in a sign-and-trade. It is probably a longshot Gay would choose Minnesota anyway, but it doesn’t hurt to try. For what it is worth, both Gay and Johnson are 23 years old. If they had to part with Johnson if it meant they got Rudy Gay, I don’t think it would be awful.
Lee visiting seems interesting because he would also require a sign-and-trade. Turning over the roster he inherited isn’t a terrible idea, and sending Kevin Love, Webster, and Ramon Sessions to New York might not be absurd once Plan A fails for the Knicks.

kanebangerParticipanttalking about the wolves getting harrison barnes is REALLY premature since They have never moved up in the draft only down or stayed the same in 13 seasons in the draft. They have the worst luck they may have the worst record but they will end up with the 4th or 5th pick

butidonthavemoneyI said if they get lucky, they could get Barnes. It’s a possibility, as Minnesota will almost certainly be among the worst teams in the league.
And yes, I believe Rubio will come over.
