Mavs want to S&T for Joe Johnson…
What do you think they’ll give up?
Also if they get Joe Johnson and sign Shaq (which is my prediction) are they right on pace with LA in the West?

JJeff6Participantwhat would they do with Caron if they got joe johnson?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/28/2010 - 4:03pm #343401

SpencerIsHawesome2ParticipantJoe Johnson started SG every game this year for the Hawks… Butler started the majority of games at SF…
Kidd
Joe Johnson
Caron Butler
Dirk
Center??0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/28/2010 - 4:05pm #343403

JJeff6Participantwell, you also don’t know for sure if dirk is actually going back (i have a feeling he is). maybe sign shaq for center

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantIf they happen to get Johnson and Shaq then I’d say their are on the right pace with LA.
To get Johnson, I see maybe a trade of Caron Butler and Erick Dampier for JJ?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/28/2010 - 4:22pm #343414

Tongue-Out-Like-23Participantmaybe throw in Roddy Beaubois but I doubt it, Mark Cuban is ridiculously high on him, as he should be.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/28/2010 - 4:24pm #343415

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantThe issue I see is Dallas would have to give up picks and they lack that and pieces Atlanta would need IMO
They don’t need a PG because you have Jeff Teague who Larry Drew said might start next season.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/28/2010 - 4:27pm #343418

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantIt all depends on Josh Smith’s jumpshot. If it improves, they can finally put him at SF and move Al to his PF position. Crawsover (Jamal Crawford) plays the 2 guard and they can use Dampier. Fast line-up with Teague, Crawsover, J-Smoove, and Horford.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/28/2010 - 4:29pm #343420

JJeff6Participantthey like crawford as 6th man as proved by last years great stats.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/28/2010 - 4:30pm #343423

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantTrue. I think they would want Dampier.
Would 2011, 2012 1st rounders, Dampier and Najera for Joe Johnson do the trick?
I added 2 1st rounders because odds are they will be in the 23-30 range.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/28/2010 - 4:31pm #343424

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantThen Caron Butler could fill that void. Move Crawsover back to 6th man.

festar35ParticipantTo me Roddy would have to be included as well as Butler. Butler is an expiring contract but a good one at that, the Mavs would need to send him in order to match the salaries as well as give the Hawks something they may actually want.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/28/2010 - 4:40pm #343432

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantThe issue is where would Roddy Fit? Plus, maybe Butler but I liked him when he was underrated, now he’s overrated.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/28/2010 - 4:49pm #343435

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantI don’t think they would they would take that trade. Maybe if their throw in Rodrique Beaubois.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/28/2010 - 4:50pm #343436

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantRoddy is a nice addition off the bench. A real spark. 8ppg in 12mpg?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/28/2010 - 4:55pm #343443

duhrant35ParticipantYou cant give up your first 2 years in a row its a rule.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/28/2010 - 4:59pm #343444

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantMaybe next years and a future 1st round pick. (ala Detroit Pistons, even though they drafted Darko)
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/28/2010 - 5:01pm #343445

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantYou cant give up your first 2 years in a row its a rule.
Then 2011 and 2013. Or 2011 and the right to the 2012 ( Top 5 protected)
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/28/2010 - 5:18pm #343450

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantWhy wouldn’t they take that trade If they think they might lose Johnson in FA anyway?
The Hawks could possibly lose him and get nothing of value back in return. Getting Butler and a center like Dampier would allow the Hawks to stay near the top of the Eastern conference race.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/28/2010 - 5:37pm #343453

SpencerIsHawesome2ParticipantI don’t think you guys understand.
Sign and Trade means Johnson picks the team, and the Hawks take what scraps they can get that will help them. It won’t be this ultra-fair deal. Hawks don’t pick what team they’re working with nor do they really get their choice of players in return (Obviously, they won’t take bums with big contracts) but it could end up being only Dampier. That leaves the Hawks one Center better than they would be with no S&T.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/28/2010 - 5:46pm #343459

SpencerIsHawesome2ParticipantThe sign and trades from last year:
Toronto signs and trades Shawn Marion, Nathan Jawai, and Kris Humphries to Dallas and a 2016 second round pick to Memphis;
Orlando signs and trades Hedo Turkoglu to Toronto for cash;
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/28/2010 - 6:02pm #343466

the I in winParticipantI don’t think they want to give up Damp, he gives a lot of depth at center and doesn’t get injured. They would probably give up Marion and some fillers. And no way would they give up Roddy Beaubois, sign and trades are never fair.
