LeBron James was dubbed “The Chose One” while in high school and then was crowned “The King”. The King of what? What has he done to be crowned the King? He’s never won a major championship except in high school his senior year. He lost in the championship game his junior year and was instantly named “The King”? Why? He hasn’t been able to lead his team to the NBA Finals and actually be competitive. He was completely swept by the San Antonio Spurs. Go ahead and tell me “He had no team” Yeah, neither did Allen Iverson in 2001. Not only did Allen Iverson stand up to the defending champs and even stole a game; he played with ridiculously good because he knew he had to play his best in order to even have a chance. Iverson posted stats of 35.6ppg, 5.6rpg, 1.8spg. With stats like that, you give your team the best chance possible to win. Now LeBron vs the Spurs: 22ppg, 7rpg, 6.8apg, 35%FG,.. 69%FT,.. 20%3PT,.. 5.7tpg.

Now why is he the King? What has he done? Won 2 MVPs? Why isn’t Nash dubbed the King? He won 2 back to back aswell. Yeah, he’s posted tremendous stats over the course of the years, shattering records and hopes for other teams. But “The King”? Let’s just stick to LBJ.

Well he is one of the most physically dominating players ever (either him or shaq) and people love to see a guy that is so big that he pushes around pro athletes and dunk on them. He isn’t just a bully though, he also is a great passer and comes up this a lot of high light plays to make people love to watch him. Steve Nash has some amazing passes but that all he offers as far as flashy entertainment, Lebron dunks, blocks shots, gets and1’s and that is what people want to see. He wasn’t called the king because he took over being the king of the nba, but everyone loved watching him and couldn’t imagine him not being the best so they called him the king. Basically people hyped the hell out of him and with his flashyness people couldn’t stop watching him.

But hell we all know if he isn’t the best he is 2nd and thats not bad at all.

This post makes no sense, Lebron is the best all around player, outside of Kobe and maybe Wade you can’t even argue someone being a better player. He took the eventual champs in 2008 to 7 and almost won it came down to the last 2 mins, what were Kobe and the Lakers doing in the Finals blowing a 20 plus lead at home and getting blown out by 40 in Game 6 to the same Celtics. Guess you missed Game 5 against the Pistons in 2007 or last years series against the Magic when he dominated games and kep them competitive both were historical. Only fair you talk about his achievements in the post season as well. I’m an Iverson fan but he missed some key free throws in Game 2 of the Finals that could’ve helped beat the Lakers, also he wasn’t being defended by Kobe. Yeah Lebron didn’t have a good series against the Spurs in the Finals but he was facing a premier defender in Bruce Bowen and his game plan played rite into the Spurs hands. King is dubbed becaz of King James the Bible version as well. Nash doesn’t really have a nick name becaz he’s not a flashy player with high flying dunks thats just how it is nowadays. Same goes for Tim Duncan unless you call the Big Fundamental a great title, nick name etc.

It just so happen that “The King James” bible, was a translation made in 1611. Due to the popularity of this translation, henceforth came the name King James. It is not the first pop culture reference to be used as a nickname and will not be the last. It just so happens, the guy could play basketball very well, so he got the nickname instead of say Edgerrin James or James Brown. Yes, it is a nickname that just wreaks of arrogance, but I find it harmless enough, and while he is by no means “the Chosen One” or the best player of all time at this point, he has done pretty well for himself. He has yet to really separate himself from other dominant players in the league the way that Michael, Shaq and Kobe did at a time (and I guess for 2 years Hakkem Olajuwon), but he deserved both of those MVP’s, and the guy already has the 3rd best PPG of all-time at this point. I mean, I know I did not see him winning multiple championships by now, and he hasn’t, but he certainly has played individually about as well as he could, barring certain moments, and had some great performances along the way. Not to mention, his team is full of players who over that time have not exactly been seen as the ideal supporting cast for a championship team.

But, the King James thing is easy to explain, a lot more difficult to earn beyond the obvious biblical reference.

Actually tongue out ur post was getting me mad up untill u mentioned what Iverson did in his amazing lightning rod of a 2001 season where he won MVP and single handedly beat a Laker Machine that steamrolled though the playoffs not losing once untill that Laker Machine got derailed in game one by a 5’10 165 pot smoking, gambling, maverick of a hall of famer, The Answer. Because remember the question was will LA lose atleast once in the playoffs not can the Sixers beat them because there was just no beating that LA team in a 7 game series. And I’ve met Iverson in person I’m 5’10 and he stands eye to eye with me not an inch taller or shorter.

But LeBron is the “Chosen One”. James had more hype then Jesus coming into the league and guess what he delivered. He delivered on everything so far except a championship but atleast he mad it there something T-Mac during his reign couldnt even claim.

And LeBron is nicknamed the King because his last name is James. As In the KING JAMES BIBLE. Thats hot he got his nickname is has nothing to do with accomplishments. Not the mention the guy is built like ancient Greek Demigod and wears a headband that symbolizes his crown.

Yeah I understand the King James and the bible reference but I still don’t agree with it.
