Atlanta needs a C

Way to state the obvious. There are no impact centers in this draft to start for Atlanta..Look to FA or some trades

Dexter Pittman or one of the late 2nd round picks will be their pick at C. I think they go SG in the 1st round.

they could use Seraphin,he is true C but again he is 6’9 and Portland liked him

I think they could take a shooting guard or wing player, but I think if Solomon Alabi is on the board they’ll take him.

I see the Hawks drafting a SG with their first round pick. But if a good centre is available they might just take it. If Da’Sean Butler is available second round he could provide bang for your buck.

However, Hawks need to shift Marvin Williams for a true C. This allows Horford to play PF and J-Smoove to slide over to the 3. Williams could fill a few holes around the league and Hawks could get a serviceable C. Hornets need a SF, as do the Nets and a few others. Jianlian could be traded. He’s a PF but his size is that of a C and his agility would suit the Hawks “we’ll switch on anyone” mentality. However, no way in hell Nets would give up on Yi for Starvin’ Marvin.

This looks to be an explosive off-season of trading too.

the reason Horford is able to play is because he has a rediculous wing span, i heard its like 7’4

Yeah, they need to do something quick with that Center position. It pains me to see Al Horford lose the height advantage every night, and have to battle and bang with centers when he’s a natural power forward. But to his credit, Al never complains, just goes out there and bust his but, works hard, and gives the coaches and team everything he has. But I certainly do think his game would be enhanced if he were playing power forward.

If ATL takes Solomon Alabi with the 24th pick over guys like Terrico White, Dominique Jones or Lance Stephenson they will be disappointed. Solomon Alabi is not better than Zaza Pachulia and is probably only marginally better than Randolph Morris. He’s nowhere near ready to be a strater, even if it allows Horford to play his natural position.

I personally hope the Hawks pick Lance Stephenson. Gives the Hawks a potential 1st option scorer who can operate much of the same way Joe Johnson could, minus the 3-point shot.

Jorrye, what if Atlanta moves down a bit and grabs Ryan Richards? I considered him at 24. He wants to play in the NBA this upcoming season.

Also, I predicted Brackins to ATL and Aran had that as his pick in his last mock draft

big projection iggy for a guy who looked average at best in the big east. Although he was only a frosh, still didn’t live up to the immense billing.

Ryan Richards doesn’t make ATL better now I don’t think. I haven’t seen Richards play much, but he’s not better than any of the top SG prospects or Craig Brackins I don’t believe. I think the Hawks need tough players. Brackins is a Charlie Villanueva type of player, but the Hawks don’t need that. They need a big who can stop Dwight Howard or slow him down (more likely), or they need a young guard who can at least bring scoring off the bench and play D.

Stephenson looked the same way Tyreke Evans looked before he was allowed to dominate the ball at Memphis. Underwhelming. If Coach Cronin would’ve took the ball out of Deonta Vaughn’s hands (who had a terrible season last year and almost single-handedly made Cincy nosedive) and let Stephenson play a PG/ball-dominate role like Evans, then Stephenson would’ve been much more productive than he was and would’ve been looked at as a top 20 pick easily.

ok. We’ll pick up this stephenson thing later. But if I’m the hawks, I have to go the trade route or free agency to pick up the big they need. At that point in the draft, there’s too much uncertainty and no one will help you right away in that role.

I read b4 that he had a great summer league last year,haven’t watched him though
