Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI wonder. I don’t think Adam Morrison is a bust. I feel he never got a chance to play. Morrison put up 11 ppg his rook season, tore his ACL the next and got traded to LA in year 3. He never got a chance to play in Los Angeles.
He’s a Free Agent this offseason, I think he could get a deal and someone can look at him as a role player. What do you think?

AllDayyyParticipantyes and im a giant gonzaga fan.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantLol, Good Thing I don’t give my own post a Thumbs up then.
I dunno. I think had he not gotten hurt, he would have improved.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI think he’s been a bust thus far, ESPECIALLY considering the Larry Bird comparisons he was getting coming out of Gonzaga.
He averaged double figures, but was inefficient his rookie season. He did tear his ACL, but he was very passive/hesitant to shoot once he returned. The reports are that he wasn’t even the main piece in the trade to the Lakers… Shannon Brown was. He didn’t get playing time with the Lakers because he couldn’t make the rotation.
Yea… I think he’s been a big bust thus far. He’ll probably get a deal from some team looking to fill out it’s roster.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI guess.
I just feel he’s someone if he gets a nice little deal and a chance to play that he could shot the Morrison who had promise. He was a streaky shooter is rookie season but that’s because they played him at the 2. Morrison cannot defend 2’s and they blamed him for poor defense.
Let’s see could Morrison stop a D-Wade? No, what makes you think he was in college?

KevinDurantRocksParticipantThe biggest problem that was not documented was with the Bobcats he was highly criticized. No one not even Jordan had the pressure Adam was under. When he missed a jump shot the crowd booed!!!!!!! how bad is that. He averaged 15 points on the road thats good for a rookie. Hopefully he gets a shot with a team that needs a scorer.
SHAME ON THE BOBCATS FAN BASE RUINING A GOOD PLAYER

knicksfan7ParticipantTezo, look at the never panned out thread.
Adam Morrison got over hyped (not his fault). I hate when players get built up so much, and don’t live up to expectations and they get blamed like it is on them. He could be at best a role player, but he will never be a starter.

llperezwhat the hell is this? A top 3 pick is riding the pine and you wonder why he is called a bust?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 6:04pm #339191

sheltwon3ParticipantI think because he was a 3rd pick he is a bust unless he can average double figures and be at least a 3rd option on most teams. He will be a solid 6th or 7th man though.

MagikKnickParticipantlmao perez….

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantRiding the Pine because he got hurt.
If your going to say that then I guess were gonna call Oden a bust then.

ChabvisParticipantI don’t think he will play meaningful minutes the rest of his career. I just don’t think that he has the type of mental conditioning that goes into being the star of a team to the number 1 pick to the absolute last person on the bench for however many years to being a role play who can contribute. I just don’t see it. I mean even in garbage time at the end of meaningless regular season games this guy did not get any kind of playing time. How can he possibly go to another team and contribute?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 6:11pm #339205

llpereznot just the injury. Go back and watch adam in college, he was never the quickest guy but he would put his head down and grit his teeth and force his way to the hoop and would force his will on the opponent even if it meant forcing bad shots. Now that he is in the NBA, I never seen a player pick up his dribble so fast at the first sign of defensive pressure. His confidence is GONE. He might still find a way to contribute in this league, but it sure wont be top 3 pick worthy. Thus he is a bust.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 6:12pm #339207

llperezand im not ready to quit on oden but if his current path continues, then yes, he is without question a bust.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 6:17pm #339212

IndianaBasketballParticipantI just think Adam is a bust. He’s lost so much confidence that he’s in a shell now. He’s like the most socially wierd/awkward basketball player I’ve ever seen.
That player we saw at Gonzaga is history.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 6:18pm #339213
KevinDurantRocksParticipantNeeds to go to europe where he will average 30 points and come back and be a 15-20 point guy
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 6:19pm #339214

JNixonParticipantI think that even without the injury he’d be a bust.
I mean, you say he couldn’t defend SG’s but he couldn’t defend SF’s either. Adam Morrison has never been a good defensive player, even when defending the SF’s in the mighty WCC he was a bad defender. I think that he has severely underachieved in every way you can possibly think of. He was inefficient because the closeouts in the actual NBA are much faster and the players are so much more physically gifted than they are in college or even in Summer League competition that he’s struggled to adjust. Add in the fact that he’s not more than mediocre in his ball-handling
I never liked him as a truly great prospect, but I did think he’d be like a 15 ppg scorer because his shot was so pure.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 6:21pm #339218

OrangeJuiceJonesParticipantI don’t know if I misread you or not, Iggy, but Morrison is actually a Summer League All-Star. He lights it up every year.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 6:23pm #339220

BlueLacesParticipantMorrison is a bust thus far. I hope he gets a chance to play wherever he ends up this summer because I really enjoyed watching him play at Gonzaga.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 6:26pm #339223

JNixonParticipantI wasn’t suggesting that he struggles in the SL, I remember people thinking he’d break out over the summer because of how he looked in Vegas. I meant he was struggling to adjust to the NBA game.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 6:28pm #339224

ilike.panochasParticipantHes a bust without a doubt, even with his injuries you can’t use it as an excuse. If your going to do that, then I guess we have to give Sam Bowie a pass as well with his injuries, right?
Anyways, what I can’t figure out is why Morrison hasn’t been a role player or some sort of 3 point specialist. If Jason Kapono can get some playing time, why hasnt Morrison done the same?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 6:32pm #339229

OrangeJuiceJonesParticipantI see.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 6:33pm #339231

IndianaBasketballParticipantKapono never lost confidence in his shot or himself like Morrison has.

kanebangerParticipanthes a buster

plasticmanParticipantWhat if he played for Phoenix? Do you think he could put up points there? I don’t know, I’m just throwing it out there…Several players have gone there and revived their careers to some degree. Maybe in the right system and he could find his niche. I’m not saying he’ll ever be worth the 3rd pick, but he can at least get his respect back and stop being the butt of so many jokes lol.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 9:23pm #339307

JJeff6Participanti agree with plasticman. He could come to phoenix and maybe make the rotation and maybe fire up those 3’s in front of a friendly hometown suns crowd that embraces its players. Also we have the best athletic trainer in the game in aaron nelson and some of the best coaches in the game in Igor Kokoskov and Dmar and alvin gentry. just a friendly organization that would embrace him and he might become one of the family and maybe get his confidence back here. If they sign him im all for it.

rtbtParticipantThis is really an interesting thread because the heart of the posts is not actually Adam Morrision, it’s all about confidence. When a player loses his confidence, especially when shooting is his strength, it’s over.
The other fascinating aspect of this discussion is the thought of Adam Morrison going to Phoenix. Why? Because that’s where many guys resurrect their confidence playing in a system where you are never criticized for shooting and missing. I’ve always thought the Phoenix concept doesn’t receive enough attention. They are so different from other teams who frown upon outside shooting, making players hesitate ever so slightly.
It also helps having one of the greatest passing PG of all time.

JoeWolf1I think he is a bust, but I still think he can salvage his career to an extent. I think he could find a role as a shooter off the bench, just not for a team of the caliber of the Lakers. I think he could bounce back and average 6-7 points off the bench for a team, but for the #3 pick,….still a bust.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/24/2010 - 3:45am #339343

OhCanada-ParticipantHe is a bust. Although with that being said if I was New York, Miami, or someother team with loads of Cap Room needing a cheap contract to fill roster spots I would take a chance on him. After experiencing the Lakers winning a ring (even as a healthy scratch) he should have learned quite a bit.
Ever since this moment all of Morrisons heart and pride was thrown out the window.
