cuseflynn10ParticipantIs it just me or does anyone else think he might slip a bit come draft night. If you put him up against LeBron and Carmelo, Hayward doesn’t even come close to their skill level. If you pit him up against small forwards in his draft class like Johnson, Aminu, Babbitt, and George he looks like a15-30 range pick. Johnson completely took advantage of him when he played him dropping 31 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. I don’t think he earned a spot in the lottery and maybe not even the top 20. It doesn’t help that there isn’t a team in the 15-20 range that will really need a small forward. What are your thoughts? Will he bust or prove me wrong? I hope he proves me wrong, but I see him struggling against all the good talent in the NBA compared to when he played against the Horizon league players.

BasketballGuru24ParticipantDepends on his work ethics, if he really wants to be good i can see him being good. Its just how much effort he is going to put into being on of the best or a quality player.

Meditated StatesParticipantHe will be a good complimentary peice. His game will look good if he plays with a slashing point like a Rondo, but I agree he could struggle on D. Offensively I like his step back J. He will be solid on O with his ballhandling, and passing skills. Reminds me of Mike Miller a lot. Could be bait on D.

stanford hoopsif you put any of these guys against a lebron or melo they dont come close to there skill level. even guys already in the nba dont. i never base what one prospect did against another as to how good a player is either ever since christian lattner killed shaq in college. as far as him being a lotto pick.. he has nice skills for his size so i can understand him going in the lotto. i would take others ahead of him though. i expect johnson to out play him though since he is better and older then him

JNixonParticipantHe reminds me of Francisco Garcia. A good shooter with a decent 1st step and good handles. He’s narrow, skinny, and not very quick laterally so I think he’ll have struggles on D but he does put in effort so you’re going to work to score on him. I think he’ll be a solid 12 or 13 ppg scorer in like his 2nd or probably his 3rd year. He’d be a player I’d like to have in my rotation.

You’ll have to post for me when Johnson dropped 31 points and 14 rebounds vs Hayward. They’ve only matched up against each other once and that was during the tournament… Johnson had 17 points and 9 rebounds compared to Hayward’s 17 and 5.

Bryant24Participantgordon hayward will be an solid pro he will be a rotation guy most likely the first guy off the bench he has a decent handle, good shooter and a first step he jsut needs to bulk for whenhe got to hold people like lebron, carmelo, and pierce he probably wii be drafted in the late lotto or mid round pick when you look at most of the people who get drafted aroudn them times they are role players

OldSkoolBasketballParticipantNot trying to be racist but if the Pacers select Hayward with the tenth pick more people would question Larry Bird’s way of drafting white players. I understand he is a local kid but still I don’t think he is top ten talent.

parkerjParticipantwhy the hell does that keep coming up? i haven’t seen any indication that the pacers actually plan to draft hayward…

FreeJasonryParticipantHe reminds me of Mike Miller (less athletic)… He will ultimately be a strong bench player. He will have trouble guarding most if not all the players at his position especially the starting forwards. That’s why him being a bench player suits him in the long run. Even Joe Alexander was way more athletic and he can’t get out of his suit let alone the bench. He has a great bench skill set. Knock down some jumpers, get a few rebounds and stuff like that.

parkerjParticipantaaah! and now the joe alexander reference…
joe alexander “can’t get out of his sweat suit” because he doesn’t know how to play basketball…kind of difficult to make it in the National Basketball Association with that as a negative
hayward is basically the anti-alexander…they’re really nothing alike…at all
