Howard easily. Oden needs to stay healthy for a full season to even see what type of player he truly is.

We havent seen Oden be able to stay healthy or out of foul trouble. He needs to prove he can do those things before we even compare him to Dwight.

That said, you asked IF Greg was able to stay healthy who would i take? I would still have to go with Dwight Howard. Howard has shown he is able to dominate a game inside and will only get better. I dont see that killer instinct from Greg.

The thing is, even when he is healthy, he gets in foul trouble so quickly that it is not possible for him to play the type of minutes Dwight gets.

if Oden stays healthy, in 2 years Oden will overtake Howard and best defensive big man.

I don’t understand why so many people compare other centers to Dwight Howard. Defensively he has every center beat by a considerable margin. Greg oden comes into training camp out of shape, something Dwight never does, Greg oden can’t stay healthy for an entire season and Dwight Howard is one of if not the most durable superstar in the league. He’s only missed a handful of games in his entire career and I’m pretty sure oden has yet to play 82 games for his career. Also on offense, yes Dwight isn’t a number one option YET (I think he can eventually get there) but oden isn’t much of anything on offense. Dwight is a threat to constantly best the other big off the dribble using his quickness or just jump into/over his opponent and dunk the ball. I think that even if oden finished an entire season he wouldn’t be nearly the player Dwight is. You have to understand that Orlando has a bunch of other guys that are decent perimeter defenders who pretty mug look for steals and if they don’t get them, they rely on Dwight to make up for it and he does. This guy mans the paint BY HIMSELF and that’s unheard of. Greg oden won’t be a guy who can do that because I don’t think he understands defensive concepts the way Dwight does. He makes orlandos defense one of the best almost all alone. Not to mention he runs back on defense and gets those highlight types of blocks in a consitent basis as well. Greg oden will never be able to get up and down the court like Dwight and will never be half the player Dwight is

Oden’s injury this year is not a fluke, he is plagued with injuries. He has buldging discs in his back, he started his college career playing with a broken wrist. If he doesnt play AT LEAST 30 minutes a game and put up a double double and 2 block every night he is bust.
