this was in another topic but I decided that it deserved its own topic..

I am very high on Blake Griffin and here is why:

    1. If you look at Griffin, from the streets, what do you see?? He is a 6’10 workout freak.. Thats what the average person sees right away.. People who dont even know basketball see him and know he is an athlete.. That is a good thing already.. He isnt skinny but he isnt a lard as-s either..

    2. Now, we take that a step further. When someone sees him run and jump, they dont see a stiff guy.. He is a very fluid athlete.. He can change direction at will, he can jump at any moment, and he has natural body flow.. He doesn’t look awkward when he runs. These are still things that people who dont know basketball can see..

    3. Another step.. Combined with that fluidity, there is explosiveness.. When he jumps, he dips his hips, throws his hands back, plants his feet and erupts forward.. When he jumps, people stop to see if he is going to come back down anytime soon.. His takeoff is explosive.. Just like his jump takeoff, his sprint takeoff is equally explosive.. He plants his feet, he doesn’t false step and he explodes in one direction without teetering back and forth..

Those are 3 things that anyone in this world can notice about Griffin.. When those things translate to the NBA, they are still very impressive.. What I mean by this is, of course everyday people are impressed by these qualities that Blake shows but they are so impressive that they impress people who see this every day.. And those are just things that arent basketball related..

    1. Hustle… When Blake goes after a ball, he doesnt stop until that ball is his.. Im not talking about YMCA hustle either.. He isnt just a guy swatting at your arms after you take the ball from him.. This guy hustles in the right spots.. He recovers when he gambles, he dives on the floor for lose balls, he gets back on defense, he goes after his misses as well as the misses of others, he boxes out on every shot.. He “basketball” hustles and he does it at a level that most professionals dont do..

    2. Work Ethic… This guy makes me sick with his work ethic.. Yea some people work hard. Stackhouse did P90X and every raved about it.. Dwight Howard lifts every day and people think he is crazy.. Blake Girffin moved on from P90X after the 6th grade and has been lifting weights everyday since puberty set in.. Those are jokes of course… In all seriousness, Griffin is a freak when it comes to this.. This past summer, he consulted a guy that wont even show is face in public because he would be constantly asked about working out, for his pre-preseason workout..

    3. Willingness… People used to fuss about Griffin at Oklahoma because he didnt play defense but its because he was told to stay out of foul trouble at all costs… This guy is willing to be coached.. He wants someone to tell him what to do.. If he is supposed to go out and get 15 rebounds a game, I bet that he will do it.. He is willing to do anything that his coach asks him to do.. He is willing to study the game and willing to play within a system to be successful..

Now, all of that being said, this guy alone is destined to be a good to great NBA player.. But thats not all Griffin is.. He has more…

    1. Handles that most big men dream of.. This is going to be a bold statement and you dont have to agree with me but, Griffin may have the best handles of every big man in the NBA outside of Lamar Odom.. Yea. He is that good with the ball in his hand.. He can hesitate, pull back, crossover, and blow by a defender for a dunk.. He can be going full speed with the ball, stop on a dime, pull the ball back through his legs, crossover in front of his body and be by you in an instant.. Yea.. Lamar Odom may be the 6’10 version of Derrick Fisher when it comes to handles but Blake Griffin is AI… There is that kind of difference.. Odom is steady with the ball and doesnt turn it over.. He can go through his legs and crossover but thats about it.. Griffin can shake you with just the ball.. He can make you turn circles..

    2. Passing ability… Not talked about much with Griffin but he can pass.. He finds open men all the time and not with just a pass out of the post. He can dribble to the left and throw a pass around behind his back. He jumps to shoot and throws over his defender head to the open man. Passes on the break and knows when to give the ball up and when to keep it.. Im not saying that he can pass like Gasol or KG or whoever is the best passing big in the league but this kid can make some really good passes…

    3. A jumpshot… Blake comes fully equipped with “Authentic Karate Chop Action,” “Realistic Death Grip,” and “A Smooth Jumper.” This isnt Amare’s jumper, which was “Sold Separately” with “Some Assembly Required” after his injury.. Yea he has a jumper now but it was at the cost of some athletic ability. He didnt come into this league with a jumper that he had been using since HS… There is a difference, trust me.. If you dont believe me, go out and change your jumpshot and do it with nobody in your face for about a month.. Then, go to the Y and try it out.. Yea, you can do it but it still doesnt feel the same as the old one.. The one you were comfortable with.. It may be just a efficient as the one that was included with the purchase but its just not the same.. It doesnt quite fit right in the guys hand or it keeps falling off every time you put it on him… Now the jumper that is included with the player is more of a go to move as opposed to a last resort kind of thing.. I hope I didnt lose yall in that.. He has a jumper that he knows is effective and doenst doubt…

Those things are what make Griffin a person worth waiting for.. People will knock his defense for a while and say he tries to do too much but everyone will soon see that this kid doesnt have a weakness.. Wait, scratch that last statement.. His weakness is his team.. That is the only thing that is going to hold him back for the next 4 or 5 years..

I really like Griffin, and I think he will be an all-star. Don’t know if he will be a superstar because he has yet to show *me* he could create his own shot effectively. And he still needs to develop a low post game and jumper

I can see you put a ton of time into this! And it was a very good read! I did not get bored even though it was very long. And i pretty much agree with everything you said!

I appreciate it.. It didnt really take long at all.. In my mind, Griffin is the next great big man.. He will set a new standard for the PF position.

I agree with you and I love the pick. He could help the Clippers out alot down low. Pairing him with Kaman could really present problems for a lot of teams. Too bad he was hurt this year. I just hope his injury is completely healed or Clips are in for another long year.

I’m going to go all out when talking about Blake Griffin.

I think Blake Griffin could be the next Karl Malone. Going off his final season in Oklahoma and his summer league games. Griffin has not only the low post game but the ball handling/ ball control to add many moves in his arsenal. I think next season, I could see him posting a 16-8-2 season. He’s that good.

I honestly thought he was a future option last season and should shows flashes of it next season.

It’s not exactly tooting your own horn if everyone agreed with you.. lmao

You’re, in essence, tooting your own and everyone else’s horn.
