Anton123ParticipantI’ve got nothing against the NBA right now and the time I’m about to talk about was when I was just a little kid but really right now Howard, LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Gerald Wallace and Dwayne Wade are about the most entertaining players on court but they can’t even compare with Carter, T-Mac, young Kobe, Steve Francis and etc.
The late 90-s and early 2000s seem like the most flashy timeever, I mean Jason Williams, Desmond Mason, J-Rich, young Kenyon Martin, young Kidd and Nash, young KG, young Shaq, Stephon Marbury, Smush Parker and etc. etc. etc. The slam dunk contests were so much more fun.
I’m not saying the level of the game is lower, just guys are less flashy, the superstars now – Durant and Kobe rely more on their shot and they don’t really do anything sick, LeBrons dunks are overrated.
Do you agree, or is it just me?0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/20/2010 - 8:43am #335968
mwardiaParticipantpersonally, i think the nba is going thru a transition period of what u just mentioned. watch for guys like rose, durant, westbrook, of course lebron, carmelo, superman, to either still be in tact of what their doing, as in entertainment wise, and really young guys like durant, rose, westbrook, etc. to really captivate fans with their game, but i somewhat agree with u, not completely

BasketballGuru24Participantyeaa i agree we don’t have as much flashy PG. Deron williams might be the only flashy PG

Manny_3187ParticipantDeron williams the only flashy PG??? your completely forgetting about CP3 and Nash and some other point guards!!!
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/20/2010 - 9:08am #336001

MagikKnickParticipantlol theres a few flashy PGs, but none on the level that Jason Williams or even Steve Francis played

Manny_3187ParticipantVery True MagikKnick. I remember playing Basketball in high school and everyone was trying to copy Jason williams moves lol

the I in winParticipantIt’s turning into a point guards league. It seems like every team has a PG I want to say is top 10 and their is only more great PG’s coming in.

Manny_3187ParticipantEvery team has a PG thats top 10?? Really? So Calderon is a top 10 pg? johnny flynn? mike conley, jameer nelson??? all these guys are serviceable PGs but theyre nowhere near Elite in the league.

JoeWolf1I like the new style of play more than in the early 2000’s. I like Defense and although you had your Iverson, McGrady, and other flashy guys the teams like the Pistons, Spurs, and Lakers were winning the rings. Those guys played D and fundamental basketball. Don’t get me wrong I love dunks and blocks and fadeaways, but no defense and poor shot selection really frustrate me when I’m watching basketball and I’d rather see a team like the 04′ Pistons hold a team to 80 points in a playoff game than watch Allen Iverson shoot 30 shots in a sloppy win where no one else on his team has more than 10 points.

shaquille bro nealParticipantits not as flashy but its still entertaining to watch kobe hit fadeaways with 2 guys in his face or watch melo or durant go on a scoring spree where they wont miss-looking at some guys like kyrie selby marquis teague and ryan harrow(sick handle) it will get more flashy in the next couple years.
AND U CANT FORGET RONDO IS SUPER FLASHY0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/20/2010 - 10:05am #336048

Bryant24ParticipantKobe has gotten older just like an older jordan he relies more on his jumpshot he dobt dunk like once did because he saves energy try to get wins than be flashy. Deron williams is the most flashiest point guard with the crossovers and between the leg passes chris paul is grat but he isnt really flashy he just get the job done. I feel dunking is overrated i mean its only 2 points how much is a layup two points how much is two free throw two points I wouldnt mind having hops but dunks dont really excites mean but game winning jumpshots ankle breaking crossovers no look passes now I go wild for them.

Toronto16ParticipantIt’s so true. Young Vince, Tmac, Francis, J-Will, all those guys made the NBA so entertaining. Nobody does sick moves and dunks as much anymore, maybe except for Dwade.

Brace94ParticipantFlashiest PG’s today
1. Rondo
2. Nash
3. Kidd
4. Paul
5. D. Williams0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/20/2010 - 10:50am #336073

ilike.panochasParticipantWe may not have as much “flashy” PGs but we have more PGs now that are high flyers and can jump out of the gym. Guys like Rose, Westbrook, John Wall. And guys like Brandon Jennings, Stephen Curry, Ricky Rubio should be fun to watch in the next 10 years.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/20/2010 - 10:51am #336074

JoeWolf1I think Jennings is flashier than Jason Kidd, and after seeing him play in the playoffs Dragic in Pheonix is a flashy young point guard. I think he could be pretty good, he’s an emotional guy with good athleticism and a lot of moves, probably doesn’t hurt to play with and learn from Steve Nash every day.

bobforteParticipantthats a joke, flashy? Are you kidding, sure carter could dunk but he and tmac throw up some of the most awful shots on the planet they settle way too much. I can’t stand watching that, D-wade takes a lot of jump shots but he gets to the rim a lot more. If you want to watch exciting basketball watch the OKC they play team ball. I think instead of flashy i would use style. Drexler, Reggie Miller,Barkley, The Centers of the 90’s. How they play, move, work-hard etc.. I think basketball has lost some of the difference in players (their all the prototypical athletic player) Defense is non-existent but this is partly due to refs. But players like Curry are bringing back variety to basketball, he is a different kind of player, i hope we continue more players like him.

ilike.panochasParticipantAt the end of the day, Id rather watch great basketball. If I wanna see some “flash” or entertainment, id plug in an And 1 Mixtape or something, otherwise Im pretty content with today’s NBA game.

TRC1991ParticipantHAHAAA jason kidd is NOT more flashy than derrick rose
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/20/2010 - 2:03pm #336173

duhrant35ParticipantRight now the NBA has more exciting superstars than ever. The dunks may be down, but I would rather see good basketball. The new rule changes allow players to score more and we get to see guys like brandon jennings get to play in the nba instead of eric snow. The NBA has five or six guys that are more fun to watch than t-mac, carter, and steve franchise.
1. LeBron
2. Kobe
3. Wade
4. Durant
5. Howard
6. CP3
and thats just to name a few. This is probably the most exciting time in basketball since the old celtics lakers rivalries.0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/20/2010 - 3:26pm #336223

Tyreke JohnsonParticipantYea the NBA is still as exciting as ever, maybe not as flashy? I am not really sure what NBA you are watching but the NBA has plenty of flashy players, exciting players and talented players in the league today.
