UC1000ParticipantClear their logjam of players with questionable character and basketball IQ’s. Josh Howard, Al Thornton, Blatche, and of course Arenas. With a franchise player on the way, I’d get rid of all 4 of those guys even if I couldn’t get equal value.

Bison 49ParticipantOk, maybe go at it slow. Start by getting rid of Dirty Harry 2010 … Gold plated desert Eagle in your locker??? Seriously …
Some of the guys can still change things around. They key is to get some good role models in to change the guys you can. This will not work for Arenas, because the guy has been around so long he is not going to defer to a new addition. the same might be said for Howard, but Thornton has probably not had a respected teammate/coach really help him get on the right track. The same could be said to a lesser extent for Blatche. These guys can still work things out.
So here is the plan
a) Get Arenas out of there! He was a bad mentor for Javaris, and the Wiz brass should not let him anywhere near wall. If you can get something for Howard (fair trade) maybe try to move him as well.
b) Get some guys who the teammates will look up to and listen to. Solid veterans that the team respects can do a lot to help a still maturing young player.
c) A year or two down the road, if Blatche and Thornton are still acing dumb, send them packing too.

Charlie SheenParticipantI’d destroy the whole roster except McGee
Arenas- you can get fair value maybe a S&T to Atlanta for Joe Johnson
Blatche- talented but doesnt play hard a team might bit on him if their in need of a 4 man like Milwaukee maybe for Mbah A Muta(dont know how to say it)
Miller- has trade value for veteran teams lookin to make a run at the title now
Foye- has good value as a backup CG
Thornton- just let his contract run out then bye bye
Howard- has a team option that wont be picked upbuild everything around Wall and McGee
fire Flip
change their damn name back to the Bullets for god sack

WizardofOzParticipantArenas is not a bad guy. He just made a bad decision. And I think he has something to prove this year because he needs to live up to his contract and he has barely played any games for the last 3 years. I would try to trade him because of his bad contract, but if we can’t trade him, I would still be fine with that because he was one of the most dynamic players a few years ago and I still think he can play at that level. These were his averages this year.
PPG: 22.6, APG: 7.2, RPG: 3.6, SPG: 1.30And this was a down year for him. This year, he averaged his career high in assists and he was passing more than ever. He is a scoring player and by passing more, it lowered his level of play. By moving Gilbert to SG, I think he can truly flourish. He can go back to doing what he does best and score and he’ll be playing by a great PG in Wall.
As for Howard, I also think he has something to prove. After getting injured all the time and being known for having attitude problems, this would be his make or break year. He has a team option so the team does not have to re-sign him and they can release him. I think the Wizards should release him. Not because of his attitude though, it’s because of his contract. If the Wizards re-sign him, we will be prevented from signing a max free agent.
As for Blatche and Thornton, they’re still very young. Remember, Blatche came out of high school and this was only Thornton’s 3rd year in the league. They still have time to become more mature. I think they just need some solid veterans that can guide them. I don’t think you should get rid of them. They are an important part of our nucleus, and they are still very young.

mj23bestever23Participanti agree jman that agent 0 will be on good behavior this year now if they can find fair trade value have no prob wiht them doing that but becausse of the huge salary and tghe off court stuff thats more then likely not happeing if blatche and thorton would play 100 percent every night this team would be hard to deal wiht wall at the 1 agent 0 at the 2 thorton at the 3 blatche at 4 and javale at the 5 isnt that bad especially east

JNixonParticipantWall and Arenas is a good backcourt. Should at worst be similar to the backcourt they had with Arenas and Larry Hughes that year when they were great. Wall has the physical ability to defend SG’s for the time Arenas will be on the floor, and Arenas can defend PG’s at least as well as he has in the past (he’s not exactly a great defender as it is). Crittenton is probably gone, and so is Mike James. They will have to decide whether they’ll keep Livingston or Boykins, but they could keep both.
Nick Young is better off with another team. I maintain he has super nice scoring ability, but it’s obvious he’s better as an off the bench scoring threat. His lack of D and low basketball IQ are hurting him. The Wizards had enough wing players who didn’t defend and made silly decisions last season, but also were more proven, so Young didn’t see alot of PT. Randy Foye could be kept for the start of the year, but it’s probably so/so. Mike Miller is probably gone though.
Thornton and Howard don’t figure into the team’s long term plans. Both provide scoring and rather inefficient shooting, but Howard can defend when he’s focused and Thornton will rebound well from the perimeter. Having Dominic McGuire would really help the Wizards, as they need a guy like him who provides perimeter D, can guard 3 or even 4 positions, and doesn’t demand the ball. McGuire could cover some of Wall and Arenas’ matchups. I bet they which they didn’t trade him for pennnies on the dollar to Sacremento.
Blatche is a keeper for the future. He is a talented offensive player who finally put it together after showing nice flashes when given PT in the past because of injuries to Antwaan Jamison. Still has a bad attitude sometimes, and isn’t the defender he needs to be.
McGee is a building block. He’s not polished offensively and not yet the physical beast he can be, but he can be a very good post scorer if developed right. Has some nice moves right now that most young and raw players like him usually don’t have. Also a big-time shot-blocker and a good rebounder.
They should look to rebuild, the only players they should have next year are: Arenas, Wall, Blatche, McGee, Livingston, Howard, Thornton. The rest of their players should be in free agency and in the draft.
