Just finished reading the State of the Cap article and was a little confused with the writers of this sites opinions on the Blazers…Yes they have not grown in the same fashion as the Thunder perhaps, but to me they are still an up an coming team in the NBA

It all starts with Brandon Roy….He is a top 10 NBA talent in my opinion and the Blazers did a great job in locking up their franchise player…His contract was roughly the same as Deron Williams and Chris Paul, and with one less season and pretty similar talent around him he was able to lead his teams just as far as those two….His production has been awesome and anyone who watches him play can tell that he just has the “it” factor and is a winning player….Therefore I think its completely unjustified for writer to question whether he can be the 1 factor on a championship team…The kid is a stud and plays with a lot of very young talent as well

The signing of Andre Miller was definitely a bad sign…The two do not play together well at all and although Brandon Roy is a SG by name he plays like a PG and needs the ball in his hands to be successful…Definitely a bad move by the team and the team should look to unload miller for a Perimeter Shooter who would greatly help Roy open lanes

Aldridge signing was not a bad sign at all….The kid is one of the top young big men in the game and has gotten better every year…Whether the team overpayed a million or 2 a year is a moot point…They locked up a franchise player to complememt Roy for years to come….I think we should applaud a team for committing to their core players that they drafted rather than letting them walk…If Aldrige were a RFA I firmly believe he couldve gotten an offer similar to what he got from Portland which they would have then had to match

Oden obvioulsy needs to be healthy…However that is not the fault of the organization…This is certainly the last opportunity for Oden as last year was a huge test untill that freak injury…However, the fact remains that when on the court Oden has produced and shown much promise

The biggest mistake the Blazers made last season was spending money for the sake of spending it

They missed on their first 3 Free agent choices (Milsap, Odom, Turkolu) and decided to use their cap space on Andre Miller….They had no real need at PG and would have been better served using the cap space for this year

I dont think its fair to give up hope on this franchise however
