JoeWolf1I’m kinda surprised Dwayne Jones hasn’t been called up by anyone this season. He is averaging a staggering 16.1 rbs per game in the D-league to go along with over 17ppg. I havne’t seen him play personally since college, but at 6’11” 250 lbs he certainly has NBA size for his position. Do any of you guys know more about his progression and any clues to why he hasn’t been called up yet?

knicksfan7ParticipantWell Joe, from looking at the team Dwayne Jones plays for in the NBDL it is owned by the Spurs organization, and the Spurs have Duncan, Blair, Bonner, and McDyess, so I don’t see Jones surpassing any of those players. I could be wrong, but if that is the case it is probably the reason why.
On a side note Joe, sorry about Kansas, but you were right about UNI being a sweet 16 team.

MagikKnickParticipantDo you HAVE to get called up by the team that owns your D-League team? IDK, dont think so, but im not 100% on how the d-league works..
But if thats the case then it definetly sucks to play for the D-League team that is owned by one of the teams with the deepest bigman depth…
But yeah, his rebounding rate is rediculous, looking at his gamelog, he has rebounding numbers of 18, 19, 20, 24!, 26!, 27!, D-League or not, thats pretty impressive

bobbygillerTo answer your question MagikKnick, no, you aren’t limited to only being called up by the NBA team that owns your D-League team, any NBA organization is free to pick up Jones. In cases where an NBA team sends down a player to the D-League that is currently signed to an NBA contract such as Hasheem Thabeet, Kosta Koufos, Alexis Ajinca and Earl Clark then the NBA team that sends them down is the only team allowed to recall them. All of the other players in the league are essentially there to showcase themselves in hop of being called up such as Sundiata Gaines, Anthony Tolliver, Garrett Temple, etc. Any team is free to sign Dwayne Jones but for some odd reason nobody has.

MagikKnickParticipantThanks for that…
Seriously wondering why he hasnt got ANY looks yet, even if its for a 10-day…
Has to be some serious flaw in his game that nobody is seeing..

the I in winParticipantcleveland had him at the beginning of the season but let him go, again not the best place for a big man to go.
