lakanoParticipantDuke seems like they will have a pretty good team next year with the likes of Seth Curry and Kyrie Irving joining the team.
Anyone see Duke controlling the ACC next year even with the recruits UNC has coming in
0 - Posted on: Mon, 03/22/2010 - 7:08am #268520

gregoden08ParticipantNope. I think it will be tight with UNC and Duke next year. Especially if Davis stays.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 03/22/2010 - 7:34am #268521

lakanoParticipantYea I dont think they will be better than UNC either
I am actually still dumbfounded by the season UNC had this year0 - Posted on: Mon, 03/22/2010 - 9:15am #268559

HandDownManDown13ParticipantDuke is going to be backcourt heavy again. Their success is going to depend on the frontcourt though. If mason plumlee lives up to his potential and kelly continues to grow they’ll be good. I love kyrie, he’s going to be great.
Any thoughts on Tyler Thornton? is he going to make a difference?
how bout Josh Hairston? and how does Carrick Felix fit in for next year?

sheltwon3ParticipantWho NC getting because Seth Curry will be a beast
0 - Posted on: Mon, 03/22/2010 - 9:40am #268580

R-Dot-13ParticipantYeah Seth Curry is going to be a good player, not quite his brother, but he can still put up good numbers

BasterdInABasketParticipantUNC better hope harrison barnes has a john wall or kevin durant type impact if they want to compete in the acc with duke next year.

JNixonParticipantI like UNC next year, I see them as a Sweet 16 or Elite 8 caliber squad. John Henson should improve greatly, Harrison Barnes will put up solid numbers, Larry Drew and Dexter Strickland will be more experienced and have better results in the backcourt, the Wear twins and Zeller will be in the frontline so they’ll be strong there even if Ed Davis doesn’t return, and they return nice perimeter shooters in Leslie McDonald and Will Graves. I like UNC next year, especially if Davis returns. They’ll be deep and talented.
I think Duke will be almost as good as they were in 2001 though. They have a nice backcourt in Nolan Smith, Seth Curry, Andre Dawkins, and Kyrie Irving in the backcourt which should kinda offset the loss of Scheyer. And Singler should return which helps, and the Plumlee boys will be older, and Josh Hairston is going to be in the fold too. I like them next year to be a Final 4 contender. Nice mix of inside and outside depth, size, and a good mix of experience and young talent.

SpencerIsHawesome2ParticipantG- Kyrie Irving
G- Nolan Smith
G- Seth Curry
G- Tyler ThorntonG/F-Andre Dawkins
G/F- Carrick FelixF-Mason Plumlee
F-Miles Plumlee
F-Kyle Singler
F-Josh HairstonVery deep rotation… Most likely, though, Thornton wont see much action giving Duke a solid 9-man rotation..
PG-Kyrie Irving
SG-Nolan Smith
SF-Andre Dawkins
PF-Kyle Singler
C-Miles PlumleeI think that’s gonna be the starting line up.. Curry/Smith/Irving will rotate in and out with Smith playing the majority of the game.. Carrick Felix and Dawkins will rotate in and out at 3 with Singler getting some minutes there as well.. Felix will probably be the odd man out a lot and his minutes will mostly be as a defensive stopper.. The two Plumlee’s and Hairston will rotate down low with Singler playing downlow as well.. I think a lot of Duke’s success will be based on how Hairston steps up his freshman year.. If he plays well they will contend for a natl championship i think.

whyyouhatingParticipantMarshall will start for UNC he is the best passer in this year high school class and bigger and better pg that Drew and Stickland is not really true pg. They will be nice but Duke should win the ACC next year.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 03/22/2010 - 1:10pm #268660

Im Your FatherParticipantI agree with that line up, except for I see Mason Plumlee starting instead of his brother. Mason has lots of potential, and I think he will be a force next year.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantIf Duke can keep Singler…I believe they win the ACC.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 03/22/2010 - 1:16pm #268668

Im Your FatherParticipantI think Duke will win the ACC. However, I think Carolina will be good again next year too. But they will likely be starting 3 freshmen, and I think their struggles will continue at point guard, I’m not sold on Marshall. Barnes and Bullock are studs though, and I think UNC will once again be an elite team in the ACC. I just think Duke will still return a bunch of talent whether or not they return Singler.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 03/22/2010 - 3:04pm #268716
scoutguruParticipantYea what makes everyone think this Marshall kid could come in and just take the reigns at point guard and be better than Drew II. Drew II will be a junior next year and will have had the experience of actually running their style of offense at the collegiate level and will improve no doubt from this season to next. All I’ve seen from Marshall is a couple clips, and I’m not gonna completely judge him based on those clips, but I wasn’t blown away by anything I saw, that he’s gonna be given the ball at the point automatically once he comes on campus. From what people saying, you guys make him seem like he’s Ty Lawson who was given the PG job over Bobby Frasor once he stepped on campus. I don’t see it like that.
I like Duke as the favorite for next year though. Especially if Singler returns. And I expect Mason Plumlee to break out next year, he seems like he has a ton of potential. UNC has experience coming back too, so it should be a battle btw them as it is usually so we’ll see.

midwestbbscoutParticipantno matter who stays or goes…..
if Davis stays Carolina is a top 5 team…..John Henson is bad as H-E double hockey sticks….Marshall isn’t a big highlight guy but he is really good….Reggie Bullock doesn’t miss….Drew isn’t great but him and Marshall together are a mean team at PG….oh yeah and Harrison Barnes lol…

pig nobsParticipantWith the success Coach K had with zoubek this year I think he will be starting a big lineup.
PG/SG- Smith, Irving, and Curry subbing in an out
SF- Singler- ACC player of the year next year (depending on how good barnes is for UNC) and Dawkins
PF/C- Plumlee brothers (unless hairston is extremely good)0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/23/2010 - 12:17pm #268969
QUINCEYthortan will get run..not just because hes a d.c baller but because he is a baller
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/23/2010 - 1:12pm #268985

Im Your FatherParticipanthave you seen Thornton play a lot? I’ve heard that he won’t contribute much his freshman year, but will be a key player by the time he’s an upperclassmen. Who is a good comparison for him?
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/23/2010 - 2:11pm #268994
YouthinkyouknowParticipantTyler Thornton is a solid lead guard!..He does everything well not really standing out in one skill over the other..His high IQ and competitivness and Intangebles will be the reason he succeeds at duke..He is a natural leader on the court and at the end of the day he wins games…He may not be as talented as some of the duke guards but he will be a solid 4 year player!..As far as comparisons none come to mind as of rite now!

Im Your FatherParticipantSean Dockery?
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/23/2010 - 2:39pm #269006
QUINCEYhe reminds me of scottie reynolds at the same stage. watched a couple of games of his in vegas. he was on the same team as josh hairston. ..josh reminds me of lance thomas with a better jumper
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/23/2010 - 8:15pm #269208

SpencerIsHawesome2Participanteverything im hearing is thornton will play sporadically frehsman year and then really get into the rotation soph yr and be a really good 4 yr player
i cant offer my own opinion because all i know is a few highlights and what i read online..
0 - Posted on: Wed, 03/24/2010 - 6:15am #269248
YouthinkyouknowParticipantWell I don’t think Thornton is as quick as Dockery or as good on ball defensivly…as for renalds thornton dosent really look to score he values structure and puts his team first!..Hairston has a good skill set can go inside or out!..Lance couldn’t do that at this stage of his career. Hairston reminds me of Christian Lattner to some degree!
0 - Posted on: Wed, 03/24/2010 - 7:14am #269264
QUINCEYyeah im pretty sure you havnt watched either if thats what you think gator. josh is not a inside player at all. he shoots midrange jumpers. hes NOTHING like lattner… im not sure how you came up with that evaluation.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 8:55am #269718
YouthinkyouknowParticipantI’ve seen him play a couple games for Montrose this year and he did good job mixing it up inside an outside!..He dosnet have the ball skills to be a 3 and dosent move well laterally to defend a 3 he is a combo he also showed the confidence that lattiner had I’m not saying he is going to be better but the have similar skill sets unlike Lance Thomas!…Lance played off energy In hs and had no skills! But u had to respect him because he pplayed so hard!
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 8:59am #269719
YouthinkyouknowParticipantAlso Thornton isn’t even in the same breathe coming outta his school as renalds who was a prolific scorer! As tyler is a pass first guy who dosent even average over 20 and may not even be the best player on that zaga team!…I think it is you who is confused buddy!..
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 9:04am #269721
QUINCEYyeah he mixes it up when playing against the other non skilled highschool guys. when hes matched against guys who are just as big and have a higher skill set he stays on the out side. alot like lamarcus aldrige. not saying they are comparable but im comparing how hes not a banger hes a guy who likes to shoot jumpers(and he’s a pretty good jump shooter). i dont agree with the lattner confidence thing either. lattner always felt hes the best when he stepped on the floor and made sure everyone else knew it which his body language. this kid doesnt have that. what games did you do to by the way?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 9:08am #269723
QUINCEYhow is thortan not in the same breath?..just because hes not ranked as high?..i seen both in hs and they are similar. thortans also pretty similar to nolan smith now that i think about it. he doesnt average 20 means what exactly?…all that means is he doesnt half too. didnt john dibler average 30 or more? what about the guy who averaged 40 a game in hs?..im curious how many of these guys games you have actually seen?..imfrom d.c and go back very often and catch alot of games while im home so im guessing youre also from the area if you watch these guys game

QUINCEYneed to stop just reading these scouting reports ( the confident comment is straight from the espn scouting report)
suprised you didnt read the other ones that clearly say hes not a low block player.
