i doubt that he does but it wouldnt suprise me. he was a lotto pick last year and returned.

his coach doesnt believe he will but if he does gtown should be in the discussion as a title contender because they would return just about everyone plus add a very good recruit.

I am not buying this at all. Top 10 pick? His draft value is as high as it is going to get.

I wonder what NBA teams think when a top draft pick keeps returning to school. Do you think it sends up a red flag? Like he doubts himself or he is not ready to play with the big boys.

DanEboy, that is a good point. Though, it can also be looked at as he feels he needs to keep improving before he feels NBA ready. Greg Monroe knows better than any NBA scout or GM if he is ready to compete in the NBA. Monroe makes me think of Psycho T in the sense that he loves being at school, and wants to improve. I think Monroe stays for his junior year, though I won’t be surprised if he decides to move on to the NBA.

I like Greg Monroe whom I think will become a solid player at the next level. Every time I see him play he reminds me of Josh McRoberts, who had the same reputation at Duke. Unfortunately, both of them are criticized for not being more aggressive on offense. I personally like their team first attitude because most guys don’t care about anything other than scoring. Monroe will have a much better professional career than McRoberts because when he decides to shoot, he’s almost unstoppable.

And I agree with those guys who said there’s no financial advantage to staying at Georgetown another year unless he just loves the college experience. If going to school and earning a degree is his number one priority, then it makes sense. He’s going to be rich any way you look at it.

Passing on being a lottery pick, twice? Whaaaaaaaaaaatttttttttt

Greg Monroe is a great player, but does anyone think he might have the Craig Brackins effect and really mess up his stock if he stays another year? (Just for conversation purposes…]

And for what its worth, I dont buy it…

I don’t think Greg Monroe will have a Craig Brackins effect because Greg Monroe is much more versatile than Brackins is and Monro also has guard qualities while Brackins does not.

Brackins actually is a pretty good passer.

But he wasn’t comparing the two players, just their fates. I disagree though, because the way things are shaping up, next year’s draft will be a very weak one…

The NBA sent up red flags about Tim Duncan lol. Yall forget Duncan had 3 year to be the top pick in the draft. Monroe is grown and the more he stays the more polished he will be when he comes out. Monroe will be top 10 no matter when he comes out because he can come in a play right away.

Brackins actually has versatility like Monroe. He’s not quite the passer Monroe is, but he’s the 2nd best passing big man in this projected draft. Brackins has more of a perimeter game than Monroe too. Brackins is one of the more slept on prospects in this draft…He’s not the overall prospect Monroe is, but he’s m got mismatch ability. He’s a Charlie Villanueva type who can play any frontcourt position.

Next year draft will not have so many big men. people also forget Blake Griffin was a top 10 pick his freshmen year but stayed another year and was the the number one overall pick. Also another thing if Monroe grows another inch during his Junior year he will be 6’11” or 7’0″ depending on what height you want to believe. As a legit center he could number one next year.

Guys get caught up in the moment..remember Chris Webber said he was coming back..after he called a timeout his team didn’t have..Right after a lost is the worst time to ask that question..95% of the time..Players will say they’re coming back…Monroe could’ve went number 2 last season.

sheltwon, what it will do tho is give scouts a realization on his potential… this could be either good or bad…

I say it has no effect. He’ll still be a top 10 or lottery pick next yr. He was a lottery pick last yr so the fact that he is considered a lottery pick can be considered a moot point. It basically comes down to the fact of whether or not he wants to leave school, point blank. Its easy for us on the outside to make that decision but for them, its gotta be tough considering you’re playing ball just for the love and fun of the game and the university, while having the best time of your life, playing for a good program.

The only way his stock drops is if he gets hurt but because he game does not rely on athleticism he may not do much to his status cause now aday you got Turner coming back for a back injury.

I gaurantee he will not fall after the jazz selection at a top 10 this year. I thin monroe has a nasty taste in his mouth from losing the 1st round. He thinks he needs to come back to have the march madness feel! And not losing in the 1st round.

    i really doubt about it..

But if he has a plans to be the first big taken, then he will come back, comparing with this year next year’s big aren’t good at all and i pretty much believe he would have Evan Turner like season plus he would be very young juniors(he is already 19)..so why not?

I think next year he might not be a top 10 pick.
