What are the draft needs for each team in the lottery by position?

Well 1st of All….Need isn’t important if u get a top 3 pick..You go for the best player..Regardless of position..If you’re a crafty G.M you’re come out looking like a genius…Orlando traded Webber who was the overall pick for Penny and several draft picks…He teamed up with Shaq and 3 years later they’re in the Finals..Houston had drafted center Ralph Sampson in 1983 and drafted another center Olajuwon the next season..2 years later they’re in the Finals..Portland said they needed a center so they went for Bowie instead of Jordan the best player available that season..

RUDEBOY, don’t just point out the successes and ignore the failures. The Bulls drafted Elton Brand at the power forward, and then drafted Marcus Fizer. They never got better, and those two were never able to make it work playing alongside each other. The Wolves amassed point guards last summer, and annoyed Rubio enough to not stay in the U.S. after draft night. Atlanta spent years going with the BPA approach taking combo forward after combo forward. They didn’t win anything until they addressed the other positions. The Bucks drafted a pair of athletic small forwards who lacked polish in Mbah a Moute and Alexander. The success of Mbah a Moute played a large role in them essentially giving up on a 21-year old Alexander. The Pistons drafted three small forwards last summer, one has gotten time the other two have been largely buried. Charlotte had Raymond Felton and then drafted D.J. Augustin. How much better would they look with Brook Lopez?

LOL..U must didnt see that i mentioned the Blazers taking Bowie..I said when you’re drafting in the top 3 u should go for the best player not need…Detroit thought Darko was the best player after Lebron..Dumars said he didn’t take Carmelo becuz Tayshaun was their small forward..Sometimes G.M’s & Scouts get it wrong..Last season the Hornets selected Collison..That had people scratching their heads..Becuz they had the 1 of the top 3 point guards in the NBA already..But how many teams would love to have Collison now? Not everyone can be a success..It’s always a gamble..Some are ragging on Whiteside right now..Saying he’s going to be another DeAndre Jordan..He might be the next DeAndre Jordan or he might become an Allstar..And years from now..A team will be wishing they had taken him or happy they passed on him..You never know..i bet several teams wish they had picked Brook Lopez and ignored those too slow & not athletic enuff labels..

To be honest with you i don’t think the Pacers need a SG, Rush is coming along nicely. In saying if Turner is there get him if not PF is the position they should address.

Pacers most definitely need a PG, unless they somehow get the 1st pick and draft Wall they need to go after Collison via trade.

    1. Point Guard – Ford isn’t the answer. Earl Watson is a backup. Price is a prospect. We need a big point guard who can defend, push the ball and create for his teammates. John Wall would be great for the Pacers and Indianapolis.

    2. Power Forward – Murphy is solid, but he can’t guard a chair, lacks athleticism, doesn’t score with his back to the basket, doesn’t crash the offensive glass and doesn’t scare anybody.

Shooting guard isn’t really a need at all. We have Dunleavy, Jones and Rush. The only way we draft a shooting guard is if Evan Turner is on the board.

The thing about Brook was he got invited to have some drills in Charlotte, which had viewed him as a very high prospect… Brook rejected their offer believing that he would be gone by 6th or 5th in the draft… As it turned out, 9 teams passed over him including the Bobcats who were dismayed and disappointed that Brook rejected them… They chose DJ Augustin instead which left Brook teary-eyed in his table…
