kanyedabestParticipantI was so tempted to have tex\as upset kentucky in my bracket but i thought better of it.. I still thinks its a strong possiblity tho… I know they have been terrible since being ranked 1 in the country but they are team with SO much talent and can take down anyone. Maybe they get there act together and can make a run??

Johnny KilroyParticipantWhen you look at Kentucky’s resume you realize that they haven’t beaten a quality team. Tennessee is their best win and I don’t think the Vols are going anywhere in the tournament. The SEC is very weak this and I don’t think it tested UK, the way it needed to be tested. UK has talent, but lacks experience and has games where they don’t show up for a half. In the tournament you can’t play just 1 half of basketball and expect to win. Turnovers and 3 point shooting could also cause the Cats to slip this year. Every possession is huge in the tournament and you can’t afford turnovers. If UK, does get beat- I think it’s because they shot themselves out of it. UK likes to shoot 3’s and in most cases they struggle.

Rock_Cat78ParticipantI know a lot of UK fans were not too happy to see Texas as our #8 seed. They tanked the last 6 weeks or so of the season, but in a one game tourney like this, they certainly have the talent to get it together. Not to mention, UK is every teams Super Bowl, especially this year. You know the Texas guys are going to want to go at Wall, Cousins, etc. with something to prove. With that said, Texas has been such a mess lately, I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t get by Wake.

BiggysmallsParticipantI so badly wanted to pick Texas in bracket to beat Kentucky too. I didnt, but I also could see them winning. I think the way that bracket is set up…If Texas doesnt beat them…nobody before West Virginia has a good chance of beating em. I’m not saying cant upset them because crazier things have happened, but Texas matches up with them better then just about every other seed.
Texas needs to pull it together though…they’ve been playing like garbage since the game against K State. Maybe they just need to play some non conference teams who havent seen them, I dont know what the deal is, but I really hope they win. I’m getting a little sick of the KEntucky hype personally. They are talented, but they are cocky as heck, they all walk around thinking they are gods gift to basketball…Patterson is the only blue collar guy on the squad. But they will most likely go pretty far in teh tourney.
If Texas gets past Wake…which they will beacuse Wake has nobdoy good except Aminu and James will match him, I could see Texas giving Kentucky a scare.

whiteflashParticipantI might get sh!t for this but I got Wake getting by Texas then upsetting Kentucky. I’m basing that off of nothing other than gut feeling and the fact I’m in a bracket with a bunch of UT grads and I really wanna rub it in their faces, haha. GO DEACS!!!

jeff416ParticipantI think Texas has a good chance to upset Kentucky but first they have to get by Wake and that wont be easy if they are looking ahead to Kentucky. At one point in the season when they were undefeated I thought they had the talent to win the championship since then they have played horrible. But I think they would be really hyped up to play this game and they have the talent to win. In my bracket I picked them to win because I think they match up well against them but I think Wake might be a tough test for them first.

JNixonParticipantWake doesn’t have the guys to beat Kentucky. They also play a very up-tempo style, which benefits Kentucky more than Wake in this matchup. I don’t think my guy Ish Smith will be under control enough to get the best of Kentucky and John Wall. And Cousins should have a big game against Wake, even though Wake has a big frontline they won’t contain Cousins. Also hurts that Wake ended the season about as bad as they ended it last season.
I seriously doubt Texas does even get within single digits of Kentucky. If you watch Texas play as much I have this season, you’ll see that they have Cousins who can neutralize Pittman and Patterson/Dodson can play with Gary Johnson and Damion James effectively. Texas doesn’t have an advantage in any matchups other than the Damion James/Dodson matchup, and that’s not going to be lopsided enough for them to win.
I have Kentucky losing to Wisconsin in the Sweet 16 though. Just be patient, I think a well-coached team that plays overwhelming D and efficient ball will beat them.

kaceyParticipantShould be a good game (if Texas makes it). UK by 20.

Adi JosephTexas is definitely the more likely team to upset Kentucky than Wake Forest, but I don’t see it happening for either. And I consider at Vanderbilt to be a very high quality win.

OrangeJuiceJonesParticipantWhat do you guys think about Murray State, Montana and Cornell? Are they potential “Bracket Busters?”
0 - Posted on: Wed, 03/17/2010 - 7:31pm #267117

OrangeJuiceJonesParticipantThanks, kacey. I’m on my 6th bracket, and I’ve picked Murray State in 5 of them, and Montana in 2 of them. I picked Cornell in 3 of them.

kaceyParticipantCornell should have been a higher seed*. Before the brackets were set, I already pictured Temple and Cornell getting first round wins. However, since they are playing one another, I think Temple will pull it out.
I have picked Murray State in every bracket I have made.
*by higher seed, I mean closer to 1 than 16. I stated this because some people would have said a ‘lower’ seed. I’m not for sure which way is correct.
