Anyone else think he could go top 5? I love his versatility and think he will be a very servicable player in the NBA. Maybe not a superstar, but I think his ability to run the floor as a big man will be highly valued come draft day. He has great court vision and is a very solid passer as a big man.

i think hes pretty amazing. at the beginning of the season i really wanted the thunder to snatch him up but since he is getting higher on all the draft boards and the thunder are getting lower, the chances of that happening seem next to nothing now

He could but their are a lot of big men in this draft so it’s hard to say who will be top 5. also team needs will have to be taken into account.

If minnisota gets a high pick i think they should take him, he would be great in the triangle.

If Minny picks up Monroe who will get trade out. Minnesota need a defensive physical presence or a solid two guard to go with Flynn. Minny has has a lot of tradeable assets and need to make a move soon

Teams are scared of him because they don’t like his athleticism, but I wouldn’t be scared of him at all. He’s like a mix of Pau Gasol and LaMarcus Aldridge. That’s a good mix of players. And he can be a big-time player in the right system. I’d take him in the top 5, he’s the 3rd best PF/C prospect out there right now. 2nd depending on how you think of Cousins..

I want Monroe to go top 5 but it may be hard because he does not have as much raw potential but is a skilled big man in a draft that has a lot of big men. Whiteside playing well in draft camps could push Monroe outside top 7.

^^That would be a huge mistake if a team picked Whiteside over Monroe. Especially off the bat. Monroe will be better than Whiteside immediately and I think he’ll have a better career too.

I woudn’t be suprised if a team like the Pacers pulled the trigger on him and traded Troy Murphy in the offseason. He would a very valuable post presence on the Pacers and would play well with Roy Hibbert. Besides the Pacers don’t seem to draft high risk high reward guys like Favors, Sanders and Whiteside. They go for players who they feel would be able to contribute immediatley, like Monroe.

i think a reason the pacers dont is because they never have very high draft picks

I think Monroe is posed to have a very long and successful career. He doesn’t rely on athleticism as much as a guy like Amare so injuries probably won’t be as much of a liability. He seems pretty light on his knees too and is a fluid player which should contribute to his longevity. He’s more of a skilled player too. Passing ability and court vision are not attributes that tend to fade over time.

he’s like a pau gasol type . i agree . in the triangle he could be special . i bet d’antoni wishes that he had a pick in the first round . he’d be great in that system . i think he could have similar numbers to what gasol had in 05-06 season—20. points 8.9 rebounds 4.6 assists 0.6 steals 1.9 blocks . . .

i like him, but i think he’s close to a finished product, so i wouldnt take him top 5…i dont think he’s as athletically gifted as any player mentioned in this post and that includes Troy Murphy…

I think Monroe is far too passive to ever average 20 points a game…

I think it is very possible that a team drafting in the top-5 falls in love with Monroe. At this point I can’t see him falling out of the top-10.
