Most of the guys are playing behind solid seasoned veterans.

All the guys that you mentioned did well or better were given opportunities to play heavy minutes.

Jennings, Evans, Curry, and Flynn were locked for starting lineup due to weak competition at their positions on their team. Evans and Flynn were almost handed the key right at the start.

Jennings and Curry fought of very weak competition to get the jobs/minutes.
Darren Collison was given the opportunity due to Chris Paul’s injury.

Marcus Thornton is the only guy really taken out his competitions and won the position by his solid plays. (even with Paul healthy, Thornton was playing because of his scoring off the bench).

Jordan Hill – wasn’t given any chance to play for the Knicks because D’Antoni isn’t a coach that would play more half-court oriented big man. Hill is a big man that needs to be fed to be efficient. The Knicks lack of a good point guard made him inefficient in D’Antoni’s R&G game. He played 2 games for the Rockets and posted solid number with 20+ minutes (12pt / 8rb)

James Johnson – I wasn’t too high on him even in the draft. He got his chance but was outplayed by Taj Gibson.

DeMar DeRozan – he’s solid and given decent minutes, but he’s like the 5th option on his team even though he’s starting. The ball went to Bosh > Bargnani > Turk > Jack >> DeRozan. His skill level is not there yet for him to take more shots though.

Jodie Meeks – not too high on him either, and undersized spark-plug type of combo guard.

DaJuan Summers / Austin Daye – fighting with Prince, Charlie V, Hamilton, Jonas Jerebko for play time, Daye had a few decent game when he was given opportunities. The Pistons is a mess though, Stuckey is not a PG that would make his teammates better. Gotta give credit to Jerebko for getting the play time from the vet though. But Jerebko was a pro in Europe and played a significant role on a pro team, so it is not surprising that he’s more ready than the college guys.

Summer league stats dont really tell much but it does show off some of the players skill sets against competition that is above college quality. James Johnson has shown to be pretty nice but then thing is Taj Gibson is a better power forward to me, James Johnson is more of a 3 but he has to play behind Deng. Also the second year is the big tell tale sign. Summers and Daye are not getting any opportunity because Detroit has a surplus and does not seem to know what they want hopefully one of those guys gets traded. I would love to see Daye on another team.

James Johnson is too much of a tweener.

Austin Daye has shown the ability to be a very good scorer when he gets clock. He’s not a factor on D though right now, limited by his lack of quickness for a perimeter guy.

honestly, realgmbakax hit it on th head right away. You can’t compare the opportunities all these rookies have had. And summer league stats don’t mean much anyways. Guys need to prove it in the league.

summer league is a very small indicator. Truth is, if you think highly or lowly of a player, you shouldn’t change your minds based on sumer league. I say trust your instincts on a player regardless if he starts putting up numbers in the summer.

    quincey, based on those remarks:

I was one of those hating on curry
we both kew jordan supporters were going overboard
    i never liked earl clark
i don’t actually recall anyone saying derozan would be like vince. My comparison was richard jefferson
too early to evaluate Hill, johnson, or daye
