How much do you want to bet he ends up a knick. After they use their cap space they can only sign min wage players. So Adam Morrison and Joe Alexander and SMoosh Parker have somewhere to go

4 current players w/guaranteed 2010-11 contracts add 1 big name fa signing and Bill Walker thats 6 players they have a 2nd round pick and maybe they buy a draft pick that 8 guys. The rest who knows Sergio Rodriguez is an option thats 9 players so your definately right about the minimum guys. If they dont land a Pg they could resign Sergio still Smush Parker is a possibility. I wouldn’t want Morrison but who knows plenty of free agents out there

I have a feeling that a lot of teams are going to be paying players the minimum. Most of the teams that have capspace to land max guys probably are going to either get them or overpay role players because they think they have to sign someone and after that, most of those teams are going to be over the cap meaning they are only going to be left with draft picks, guys that they have their bird rights and possible sign and trade deals. Don’t be surprised to see a few more guys head over seas that can play much like Linas Kleiza and Josh Childress, so they can make better money.

Dont count on the Knicks to overpay anyone. Mike Dantoni said it the other night after they beat the snot out of the Pistons. About how the Piston signed Villenueva and Gordon (havent done very good this season to say the least) to those huge contracts…and that that isnt what the Knicks are gonna do. If they cant get who they want for the price they think they are worth, then they will pass on em. The Knicks have learned there lesson from the horrible contracts that Isiah Thomas gave out.

Smush Parker? Not a lot of guys who go from the NBA to the Chinese Basketball Association and then come back.

It is foolish to speculate about who will be 9-15 on a team when nobody knows who will be THE guy and THE sidekick. Especially with a D’Antoni team that rarely will play more than 7 or 8 guys in a game, you don’t know whether a young player needing to change perception around the league would want to sign up for a team where they probably would have little chance of ever playing.

Rtbt i agree completely, honestly its unlikely they sign him. they do have a very cheap team option on Bill Walker whop personally i think is better than him. And there are better fits available for cheap.

Morrison will not go to new York. They are actually stacked at his position especially if they get the stars they want.

I think Gallo isn’t quick enough to guard smaller athletic SF’s and he’s not big enough to guard big PF’s rite now.
However he’s a decent help defender and he has good instincts on D its gonna take time but he’s young this is basically his rookie season.

bobbyb, your post about Morrison going to NY doesn’t make any sense. The Knicks already have a stand up 3 point shooter who can’t run or jump in Danilo Gallinari. Why would they want a 2nd guy who is essentially a mirror image of Gallinari?

Unlike Adam Morrison, Gallinari actually plays defense, he can drive to basket, and once his body matures, Gallinari has a chance to be a star.

Adam Morrison was a fantastic scorer in college, but I haven’t seen enough of him to ascertain if he really is an NBA caliber player. However, the fact that he never gets any court time is a pretty good indication that he probably isn’t.

On the flip side, there’s a long history of guys in the NBA who weren’t given an opportunity to play early in their careers. Eventually they were traded and actually got some action with their new team and proved they belonged in the league. But even if I’m wrong about Adam Morrison and he can play in the NBA, the Knicks certainly don’t need him.

NYK2010, you’re right, there’s no way in the world Gallinari can guard small forwards. However, he made significant progress on defense this season and I think he’s actually one of the few Knicks who takes playing defense seriously. Unfortunately, and as you mentioned, he doesn’t yet have the bulk to guard power forwards. But when his body matures and he gets stronger, I think we’ll see another quantum improvement in his defense against PFs. But for now, I like what I see because he really does try on the defensive end of the court.

NYK2010, I also agree with your other point, his help defensive instincts are very good.

He should probably head to Europe for a year or two then try to come back. I think he is mentally beat down. In Europe the expectations will be lowered and he will get to play against guys that he has a better chance of keeping up with. I’m sure the guy can still shoot, but he needs to get his confidence up and get some time on the court, but I don’t see him fitting in with a team that wants to run like the Knicks.

expectations are very very high for guys coming fromthenba. its already high for americans becauseyoure expected tocome there anddominate from day one. th question isnt if he can play int he nba or not because he answered that his rookie year. the question is can he do it now that he has fully healed from his injuries. he wont get that chance in championship land unless someone gets hurt or he gets hot in whatever limited time he gets

I meant for this to be a joke considering the knicks are gonna need to fill their roster with minwage talent. No one specific
