YurpleHazEParticipanti really dont see him making it in the league….dude is stiff as a rock

knicksfan7ParticipantNo team is going to use a 2nd round pick on him unless he has great results at the NBA combine. Teams know they can sign him to there summer league team. I am not sold on him being even a 12th man on an NBA team, he has a lot to prove.

HandDownManDown13ParticipantI’m a huge duke fan so i’d love to see zoubek make it in the NBA. It should be interesting to see what he can do if he gets there due to his massive lack of athleticism. As far as the NCAA goes he’s doing great for duke. He’s playing good on defender post defense like usual but as of late he’s been playing very good weak side defense and getting some blocks. I’m pretty sure he’s the 2nd best offensive rebounder per minute behind Demarcus Cousins. He’s playing great right now and I wish him the best. hope he can make a roster due to his size.

JoeWolf1If Aaron Gray can play in the league, I don’t see why Zoubek couldn’t sign on as a 3rd string center for someone. Anything more than a 3 point 3 rb per game guy off the bench, I just don’t see it. Although, I’m a far cry from a Duke fan, I will give Zoubek some credit for having a pretty solid beard, but I think he is a poor man’s Chris Dudley, lol, yeah, I just said it.

knicksfan7ParticipantI remember Chris Dudley as young Knicks fan, and I don’t think anyone can be poorer than Chris Dudley and be able to play in the NBA. The only reference that is acceptable as to a poor man’s Chris Dudley in terms of the education institutions they went to, Dudley went to Yale and Zoubek goes to Duke.

JoeWolf1haha, yeah, Dudley was the ultimate stiff, how about a poor man’s Jeff Foster, or Jeff Foster (less athletic) lol? not much better, but atleast it would be more applicable to basketball than their respecitve colleges.

RUDEBOYIf he was coming out of college during the 70’s or 80’s when teams loved to have big men clogging up the middle..he might be a late 1st round pick..Today’s game is based more on athleticism

knicksfan7Participantjust a late 1st round, I bet he would be a mid 1st round. guys his size were very hard to come by.

JoeWolf1you are right RUDEBOY, even in the late 90’s and early 2000’s the NBA still had quite a few “lane cloggers”, but the defensive 3 seconds has phased a lot of those type of players out of the league.

scoutguruParticipantSorry a couple good games is not going to make me sniff this guy on draft day. Been a complete bust for Duke throughout his career. Came in as a mickey D and has fell way short of expectations.

Adi JosephAaron Gray averaged a 14 points, 10 rebounds each of his last two years of college. Zoubek’s upside is a Jake Voskuhl-esque career. And even Voskuhl was better in college, putting up 8 and 6 his senior year at Connecticut.

quinceyhodgeshe might go late second round. if he doesnt he will at least get a invite to camp. i dont understand the aron gray reference because im pretty sure gray was more productive in college

knicksfan7ParticipantWhat he means about Aaron Gray is that if a guy of his size can make an NBA roster, Zoubek can as well. Nothing about college numbers.

quinceyhodgesimsaying gray didnt make it just because of size he mad it because he was also skilled. there are alot of guys that size in europe

sayanythingParticipantzoubek is honestly terrible offensively. his junior year of hs, we played his team and our tallest guy was 6’5, we only lost by four and zoubek had only like 14 points. friggen 7’1 and couldn’t even get 15, his coach kept on yelling for him to take over and he just didn’t/couldn’t. he’s useless offensively except for his offensive rebounds which he’s always been really, really good at and tip-ins. he’s just two one dimensional to make the league. aaron gray had some offense and similar defensive skills to zoubek. i wouldn’t bet on zoubek sniffing the NBA. he was a really nice dude, though.

quinceyhodgeslol…yeah i heard hes a nice guy. i wouldnt put too much stock on a smaller guy out playing him though even though youre right about his offense. i seen smaller guys kill taller allamerican big men because its a center checking a sf basically. can you imagin a guy like kendrick perkins trying to check someone like kris joseph or xavier henry?..
0 - Posted on: Mon, 03/01/2010 - 11:56am #261792

JNixonParticipantZoubek has played good for 5 games and now he’s an NBA player? He won’t play in the NBA, he’s far too stiff, unathletic, and he’s not very skilled to top it off. I think a guy like Mac Koshwal at DePaul, Jerome Jordan etc are better prospects than he is in the 2nd round of the draft for a team that needs a big body.
And the “if Aaron Gray can make it” argument is silly. Gray is more skilled offensively than Zoubek could ever possibly be. He’s also alot stronger than Zoubek is.

quinceyhodgesi think he will be in a nba summer leauge. i also think he well get punished while playing in the summer leauge. i also think he will get killed during workouts. seems to have problems creating offense for his self. but he will makes plenty of money in europe

JoeWolf1The whole Aaron Gray comment was directed at size, a 7 foot guy who played major conference basketball on a top team can often find his way onto an NBA roster via a late 2nd round pick or free agency. Aaron Gray, Jake Vohskal, Ryan Hollins, Randolph Morris, are all examples of big bodied players with major college conference experience taken in the 2nd round or signed as free agents, If this happend to Zoubek it wouldn’t surprise me. Countless others such as Goran Suton, Sasha Kaun, DeVon Harden, and Paul Davis are also guys like this who were taken in the 2nd and have not made NBA rosters or only played briefly on 10 day contracts. Sorry for taking a whimsical approach on such a serious prospect like Brian Zoubek, I thought you guys would know what I was talking about.
Hell, even Eric Chenowith was playing in summer leagues for years after he graduated, GM’s are prone to give a 7 footer with major conference experience a look, for a minimal loss in hope they could at least pan out as a 3rd stringer or practice player.

JNixonParticipantOh yea. He’ll be given a chance to play in the NBA by playing in the Summer League and whatnot more than likely, but you said “if Aaron Gray can make it in the league, I don’t see why Zoubek couldn’t be a 3rd string or practice player.” when Gray is more skilled and more productive than Zoubek has ever been in college. Randolph Morris, Jake Voskuhl, Ryan Hollins and Aaron Gray are/were either much more productive or brought an outstanding trait to the table more than Zoubek does. That’s the difference between those 4 and Zoubek.
