JNixonParticipantWatch out for him as a prospect for next year. A 6’6″ 200 lb SG with a nice 1st step and a strong jumper and mid-range game, he can be a nice scorer for someone in the NBA. He’s eerily similar to Nick Young. He’s going to be a 1st round pick by the time he exhausts eligibility, you heard it here 1st lol.

quinceyhodgesimma have to look out for him. his name sounds familar. and yeah i like when people mention unknowns. i mentioned elijah millsap on here and he started to catch on. same with dj wright and he ended up leading his juco team to the national title as afresyman and making 1st team all american. and of course my nephew josh huestis who started out being gatorade player of the year as a jr and getting offers from montana and montana state, then after at least 100emails to espn, cnnsi, hoopscooponline, hoopshype, oak hill, findly prep, usatoday, aau teams and tournament officals.etc.lol, then he proved what i was saying about him to people and got offers from usc, stanford, georgetown, colorado ucla, etc. those are the best stories to read

JoeWolf1He’s has the physical tools for sure, I’ve seen Missouri play just a couple times this year and nothing he did really stuck out as NBA ready yet, but I’ll give him another look for 11 or 12 when KU plays Mizzou on Saturday.

knicksfan7ParticipantThis is the 2nd time I have heard possible NBA prospect from Mizzou, I think the other was Lawrence Bowers. Seems like coach Mike Anderson hides his players talents well. Until a junkie like one of us sees them play live.

JoeWolf1speaking of that, do any of you guys know if Leo Lyons is playing anywhere this season? I always thought he would make a NBA roster, because he is just a well rounded hard working type forward. I was very surprised he wasn’t taken in the 2nd round, but figured he’d make a roster at least.

knicksfan7ParticipantWow I forgot all about Leo Lyons. I searched on google and could not find anything about what he is doing now. Maybe you will have better luck than me.

quinceyhodgestheres a freshman coming in whos game i like named toney mitchell. watched him when my nephew played them in vegas. he was with the bradon bass allstars( my nephew kiddle him though.. toney had about 12 and 8 boards newphew had 19 12 and 3 blks including dunk off the very on toneys head . the guarded each other) but he has a nice game. very very athletic very stronger, slasher with a jumper but its inconsistant. evryone says he’s a legit first rounder somewhere down the road
0- Posted on: Sun, 02/28/2010 - 5:38pm #261547
knicksfan7ParticipantIf he can develop that Jumper than everything else will take care of itself. There are so many players who can slash and are athletic or guys who have amazing jump shots and average athleticism, it’s about having a well rounded game more than anything, teams at the next level figure you out faster when in High School if you’re very good or great you can do whatever you want. If he develops a consistent jumper then I bet this guy has the opportunity to be a star, but if he is comfortable with just driving to the basket and not working on his weaknesses then he’ll only be as good as what was given to him.

JoeWolf1I couldn’t find anything about him either on google, I checked out draftexpress and he is averaging 5.7 pts and 3.8 rbs in about 15 min in Europe, pretty respectable numbers, for obvious reasons I wasn’t the biggest fan of his in college, but I liked his style of play and wouldn’t mind seeing him in the NBA.

JNixonParticipantI was excited Tony Mitchell was going to come to Kansas State at one time, but he decommitted. He was a great athlete with good size and developing skills, and was a combo forward. He’s going to be a nuisance in that full court press that Mizzou runs.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 02/28/2010 - 6:22pm #261576
knicksfan7ParticipantI love that full court press, but it’s the strength and weakness for Mizzou if they want to win a national title because it tires out players as the season wears on. Also, I think it’s tough to get top players to come to mizzou over other big 12 schools for the emphasis on defense and for prospects whose mind if on the NBA they want to average 15-20 points a game not play some crazy defensive scheme.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 02/28/2010 - 6:28pm #261582

JNixonParticipantThat press is scary if your a fan of the team they’re playing against. As a Kansas State fan, I HATE when they play Mizzou. The game is always real chaotic and sloppy, and nobody ever seems to be in control. Yesterday when K-State played Mizzou, they both shot about 33% from the field and had like 8 points until about 7 mins in the 1st half..
I think they recruit certain types of players, that all bring the same strengths and are bulit the same way. Lawrence Bowers is a clone of DeMarre Carroll who’s now with the Grizz. And all of their guards are like 6’1 170-175 and are quick, defensive minded, and feisty. They don’t ever recruit guys that will take plays off on D.
0- Posted on: Sun, 02/28/2010 - 6:33pm #261586
knicksfan7ParticipantYeah because Mike Anderson isn’t like other coaches out there who recruit guys with a lot of talent/upside rather guys who will allow him to win games. A part of me is convinced if Coach Calipari coached in a top basketball conference like the Big East or Big 12 he would get out coached constantly he only gets as far as he does because the talent he gets overpowers the conference he coaches in.
Back to Mizzou, if they were to want a top 100 prospect though who would fit great into there system they would have a tough time selling a good pitch to the recruit because the style they run isn’t beneficial to a player making the NBA is what I mean.

getacomblet me step in hearing, hailing from the state of missouri. Do u guys watch college basketball? Kim English is an unknown? Did mizzou make it to the Elite Eight last year or was i dreaming, barely losing to UCONN? this team is on tv a lot, beat kansas last year, beat memphis in sweet sixteen, this year beat K state at their crib, got whooped by kansas but is still a good, specially with that press. Its simple to see it bothers teams, hard to practice for that. Oh yeah, forgot about kim, hes a straight shooter with some potential, needs bulk and more continuity as a scorer

quinceyhodgesyeah those numbers arent good for where hes at. they arent that bad if he was freshout of hs but for someone out of college those numbers will get him cut
0 - Posted on: Mon, 03/01/2010 - 5:12am #261649

JNixonParticipantThey actually lost to Kansas State when K-State was at home by 10 (the game was on Saturday), and even though English was a player on Mizzou’s Elite 8, he was a role player off the bench in the shadows of Leo Lyons, DeMarre Carroll and J.T. Tiller. Don’t be surprised that most casual fans don’t know him, Mizzou isn’t a highly watched team even though they come on TV alot.
