After watching the last few Celtics games i don’t get why people say this kid is a top 5 PG he cares more about his stats then his team winning the game exp yesterday vs the nets after he went over to the scores table to see how many assist he had he was content on getting 20 against the cavs he would stare his teammates down when they would make the extra pass curse etc and this has been goin on all season

I don’t especially like rondo, that whole thing with chris paul showed his lack of character. he is very quick and has good vision but i still don’t like him.

Doc talked about this last year he had a convo with and just told him during his rookie season his teammates did not like playing with him because he would always give them “the look” when they missed a open shot.

would that be the look jordan and kobe gives players when they miss shots. hell i want someone who cares if a player misses shots. as long as they arent getting in the players faces telling them how bad they are for missing shots. i really hope the players didnt complain to the coach about rondo giving them “the look”..lol

“The Look” isn’t as bad when it comes from a guy like Kobe or Jordan. These guys obviously have worked extremely hard on their games to become elite players. Now I’m not saying Rondo and other guys don’t work hard, but they are not on that level. Jordan and Kobe are probably harder on themselves than people are on them, so it’s more acceptable when they expect the same from others even though it’s not always realistic. There are a lot of things Rondo needs to improve to become a complete player before pointing fingers. As a point guard or whoever is distributing the ball, I think you have to inspire your guys to play better. I don’t know how many times I have seen a guy like Jason Kidd or Steve Nash deliver a beautiful pass that some guy blows the layup. You hate to see it happen but it does. When you are that guy, you have to be the first one to tell your guys to keep their head up and just make sure they focus instead of giving them a look that says you won’t touch the ball again.

i think you shold give the “look” when the guy doesn’t take the shot. It aggravates guys like kobe and jordan when their teammates aren’t ready to step up and take the open look. Giving your teammates the “look” when they miss would get old real quick and unless you never miss, you shouldn’t be staring down anyone. When guys miss, that is on the coach to decide to take them out. You should never get on a teammate for missing unless it is a layup or they should have passed the ball to a more open man.

some of these vets get whinny in there older age. they feel no one should be able to tell them anything or look at them a certain way which is just wrong. yes they should be respected but they should be held to the same standard when they make a dumb play of miss a shot. i love the players that arent afraid to stand up to some of the vets. which is why i gained awhole new respect for brain grant when he got in the face of karl malone ( i think) when malone thought brain was suppossed to just back down because of who he was. i want someone like that with me when we are in a battle on the court. its funyn because i was just tellign my nephew how he has to get into his teammates A$$ when they dont do there jobs when hes doing everything he can to help them win. danny anige said as much the other day as well

Wonder how much times Rondo spends after games looking in the mirror. He misses plenty of open shots when he takes them. Its even worse when you won’t take the shot cuz you already think its not going in. Kobe and Jordan can give the look cuz that make those shots. If Rondo gave me that look I’d be a bit pissed too.

quincy you dont just get into ppl asses for missing a couple shots….you get into their ass if there mind isnt in the game, or there not putting the effort…Rondo knows his flaws he should have corrected it in the offseason…this is why i think Derick Rose is better….hes learning to be a leader and his team loves playing with him..

I thought people got the look because of something like this:

Kobe: “WTF Smush, I could have nailed an open jumper”

    Smush: “….”

Kobe: “Do it again and we are going to release you..”

    Smush: “But when I shot..”

Kobe: “Shut the fu…. Never mind, just make it or I wont pass you the ball because I would rather score than watch you brick all day.”

    Smush: “…fine.”

And we all know how that situation turned out…

i hope he matures…even though i hate the celtics i use to be fan of his….he has that Jason kidd in him where he fills the stat sheet…i really think he can become a max player if he can mature and fix his shooting…

Rondo has his flaws and can be a little TOO arrogant, but I like the kid and think he’ll mature.

I do think Rose is the better leader and teammate though, which is just as important of a quality as playmaking ability, etc. One thing about Jason Kidd, Steve Nash, Chris Paul and Deron Williams is that their teammates love playing with them. I think the same can be said about Rose, which is why I think Chicago will land a big free-agent this summer.

who said anythign about getting in there a$$ for missing shots?..i gave a example about my nephew doing that for his teammates not doing there job. and giving a look doesnt mean getting in there a$$..actually i came at the wrong people. it doesnt seem that the players have a big problem with rondo giving them the look its some of the fans. the fans seem to have gotten soft if they think its so wrong to give someone a look..the last time i can even remeber of getting upset or letting a look bother me was in elementry school. who cares if someone gives you a look. i mean really has it gotten this low on the petty scale

were not saying ppl are crying when rondo give them the look….it would create some uneasiness especially to the ppl who arent gettin as much playin time or the new ppl…it doesnt make it a place where you want to play if everytime you miss it…someone looks at you like why the hell didnt you make it…if someone did that to me and i was playin i would want to fight with them especially if they couldnt do the same…you think thats wat a point guard should do?

8thSin, that was pretty funny. I think KObe had that conversation pretty often that season with both Smush and Kwame starting next to him. No wonder his back hurts so much now.

maybe it bother you or some fans but as a player it doesnt bother me one bit. im iming some of my boys who play and they laugh as well.. they dont care if someone gives them a look for missing a lay up as long as the guy isnt yelling at them for missing it. then it becomes a problem. maybe fans care about a guy giving his teammate a look( im not really sure why they would care). in reality its really not a big deal. not even a small deal to players. players who do worry about that probably shouldnt be playing if a look can bother them in a game when they have to worry about stopping who they are checking or winning. next thing you know fans will be upset over a guy ignoring someone or sticking there tounge out at them

if anyone has notice good vets nearthe end of there career sometimes have problems with younger guys who are becoming leaders in there own right. its alot easier for rose since he is playing with young players. and a team thats not a real threat. theres no real pressure for him. rondo is doing just fine and to me is easily the best leader out of all the young pg and the most battle tested obviously. he knows what it takes to win because he’s been a winner which is a very good quality to have and is always talked about during games when mentioning a team or players chances in the playoffs. players know you dont need to like or love a player to play with them. past nba teams are filled with guys who didnt get along but still signed contracts to stay with the team because of there chance to win. my brothers friend gerald paddio used to play with the bulls and used to talk about how jordan and pippen didnt get along most of the time and that most of the team didnt like jordan because of how bad he would berate them ( that part im sure is known). by now we should know guys wplay with teams and other guys because of the money they will get and the chance to win or the chance to play more and become a star

I am wondering what more people are thinking on this. I mean from my own experience I have played every position on the floor. When I played pg the only time I had a problem was when guys didn’t take shots or were not making the extra pass and when I played other positions I still thought the same thing. There were times I would try to get the ball to guys who were not great scorers or shooters just to reward them for playing hard on both ends of the floor and to keep everyone involved. The guy probably isn’t going to get a ton of those opportunities and he might miss, but I bet he keeps playing hard for me. Anyone that has ever played a pickup game with a group of people that all know each other knows what its like to be on the court and then never touch the ball on offense. You usually just space out and just start going through the motions. If a guy missed he missed. Getting on him or staring him down afterwards probably isn’t going to make him play any better.

and to add what i was saying rondo still passes the guys the ball and gives themhigh fives and stuff so why do some fans have a problem with it if the players really dont have a problem with it? as long as it doesnt effect anyones play why do some people care?..theres alot f things that are worst that wont make anyone play harder but players and coaches do it anyway. some guys dont respond well to coaches yelling or berating them but they do it anyway. some guys respond well to it. just kinda sounds liek people are finding a opportunity.to get on rondo about something so small. im pretty sure if you put a camera on every poitn guard every game you will find them make a look when a player misses a shot.
