Pippen is right, so many players take for granted that they are MAX contract guys and they could care less about a ring. Only players that are at the end of their careers take less money because they realize their time is up.

Tim Duncan took less. He’s also a complete anomaly in modern basketball.

i agree with it for the most part too … i think there are a few guys in the league who are driven by winning more so then finances and endorsements, but today i think those guys are few and far between

for instance: on around the NBA on ESPN2 earlier in the week Ric Bucher predicted that Chris Bosh would stay in Toronto this summer because Bosh had expressed to him that he wanted to play someplace where he would be the main guy — i don’t mean to slam bosh, because I like his game and would like to see him come to my team, but … how does that attitude come off to you?

that attitude come across as being honest. If i ask you if you wanted to be Michael Jackson or Tito then what would answer. Scottie Pippen is the same guy that got mad when the coach went with Kukoc instead on him on a play.

i have no problem with the players doing it. the owners treat it as a business as well and even though we love watching it the nba is a business

i think players might think about money all the time when they are practicing or working out or negotiating with the teams. But once they are on the court, they play ball to win. Pippen also bitched about his contract for many years while he was with the bulls because during the early 90’s contracts really started blowing up and he was still getting like 3 mill per. So he is being a bit of a hypocrite in my book.

It’s surprising, but Arenas did take a few millions less so that the Wizards could re-sign Antawn Jamison.

guys i can think of that turned down money so the team could sign guys are Charles Barkley so the rockets could get pippen. Bryant Stith back with Denver so they could add talent in the mid 90’s. Arenas with washington as tezo pointed out. That’s all i can think of.

Shaq used to say it all the time, but then when it came to actually negotiating he would go for as much as he could get. I don’t blame him for getting his, but don’t try to look good in the media and talk about how you would take less to get guys like Anthony Peeler, Kendall Gill or Horace Grant and then go after every penny the second you could.
