I see no reason to believe why Andy Rautins should not be a mid 2nd rounder….the kid can flat out stroke and at 6-3 with a jump shot like his usually that alone warrants a spot on an NBA bench but other aspects of Rautins game are underrated. He is one of the best defenders in the Big East on ball, and leads the Big East in steals. Also he is a good facilitator with the ability to get around 5-6 apg plus i saw something last night i dont see much from Andy….a two handed throwdown with ease, which leads me to believe that his athleticism may be somehwat underrated. What you see is what you get with Rautins, and I believe what you see is at least worthy of a mid 2nd round pick…

I posted something similar last week. He’s actually 6 foot 4 and leads the Big East in steals.

i’m still not sure if he has the quickness to guard nba sg’s one on one. the steals stat is a little jaded since they play a zone and have strong interior guys. the perimeter guys can go for steals at will in their system.

i do think some team will give him a look though. he’s coachable and has a high bball iq. and like you said, he’s got an excellent stroke.

He doesn’t have the speed or the athlecticism. And you know I’m Mr. Syracuse. Last night was the first time he dunked in a game since landing at Syracuse. With that, he has a good attitude, is the quinestential hard worker. Rememer he was ranked 750 coming out of highschool. The fact that were having this discussion is crazy! Also, had Devendorf came back to campus, Rautins wouldn’t have gotten the mins. He’s worthy of a late second round pick.

Obviously looking at my username I’m going to be biased, but he really is good. He is Syracuse basketball and anyone who would watch would understand that. Wes Johnson is great and he changes the game without the ball but Andy can flat out shoot. He gets the key shot when we’re on the wrong side of the run and plays solid man within the 2-3 zone.

I feel he can be drafted but will become one of those players that will get waived shortly or sent to the D-League. I do agree, he can shoot really well.

He’s an overseas player. He’s got a good jumper, but what else will he be able to do in the NBA?? He’s not quick and is a poor athlete for NBA standards. He won’t be able to defend any position, and even though he’s got some nice passing skills, he’s not quick or a good enough ball-handler to be a PG in the NBA. He’s perfect for an overseas team though.

Like Skip Bayless said this morning…..If Rautins keeps shooting 8 for 12 from behind the arc…Syracuse will win the championship.

What does Jimmer Fredette have that Rautins does not, plus he is 2 iches shorter…he is picked as an early 2nd rounder?
