Mr. BasketballParticipantHow good do you think UNC will be next season if they keep Ed Davis.
pg: Kendall Marshall, Dexter Strickland, Larry Drew III
sg: Reggie Bullock, Leslie McDonald, Justin Watts
sf: Harrison Barnes, Will Graves
pf: Tyler Zeller, John Henson, David Wear
c: Ed Davis, Travis WearI know i will sound stupid cuz they are bad this year but they could very well be top 5. with all the growth this team will have from year 1 to year 2 plus the additions of barnes, bullock, and finally a replacement true pg for lawson in kendall marshall. also they will have graves’ senior leadership and ed davis will break out in my opinion with a true pg because he is very good when his pg gets him the ball where he likes it. Another junior who will improve a lot is tyler zeller. he was said to have been dominant in unc practice and had a good start to the season before getting injured. Also, henson will improve due to playing his natural position (down low) and putting on some weight in the offseason. dexter strickland is the wildcard. he is a monster when he is under control but he is usually going too fast. once he puts it all together, he will be special. he has great athleticism, speed, and has a pretty nice shot. his pg play is improving as well. i think he could be an nba talent eventually. if he blossoms next year, watch out.
(i forgot about zeller, thanks for catching that Adi Joseph)

Adi JosephI’m guessing Strickland will start at shooting guard. He’s far from a point guard, despite his size, and starting three freshmen in the back court doesn’t seem likely unless Bullock really blows Roy Williams away.
You’re also leaving out Tyler Zeller, who will almost certainly be the starting center, with Davis playing power forward.
I do believe this team could be the ACC’s best, but only if the freshmen prove they are ready to make that happen, and only if Davis returns, as he should.
Even with all that said, Virginia Tech and Duke are also very good teams.

DanEboyParticipantHenson is getting a chance to play and has been doing well. The injury to Ed Davis may turn into a blessing for him because he starting to get in some PT avg 10-8 over the past three games. They will definitely have the talent but that doesn’t mean success.

Adi JosephSince when is 10 and 8 in 28 minutes good? Henson is clearly still too raw for regular playing time.

DanEboyParticipantI didn’t say he was tearing it up but the guy has been doing better then he was before. UNC is horrible this year so they might as well let him learn on the job and see what he can do. 10-8 isn’t awful now. He is just a freshman.

JNixonParticipantUNC will be very good next year. I said before the season that UNC wouldn’t get past the 1st round of the tourny this year and I was questioned about it. They are actually alot worse than that though lol. But anyway I think that UNC will be a Sweet 16 type team next year, and then they will be lights out in 2012. They have alot of inexperience now, that will turn into upperclassmen leadership in 2 years and they should be title contenders once again like we’ve grown accustom to.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantI think that this UNC team is somewhat similar to the Georgetown team from last year. It is a very young team with a lot of NBA prospects and highly regarded recruits, but it hasn’t come together and the conference season really put it on them. I think Larry Drew and Dexter Strickland will mature having a year of game action under their belts. Davis, Zeller, and Henson need to get bigger. I suppose Davis could leave early for the NBA, but I do not think it is as much of a lock as others think. His father was in the league a long time, still has connections, and knows about the process. I don’t think they’ll make a rash decision. The fact that UNC has some of the top recruits just gives them the potential to be even more dangerous. They could easily be back in the top ten mix next year.

Da1potParticipantWatch out for Kendall Marshall. He is from my area and I have seen him play time and time again. He is a legit 6-4 natural point guard who may not be the quickest guy or the best athlete, but he is the best passer I have seen play this year. He has a very high i.q. and always makes the right play. The high school team he is playing on this year is absolute crap… that is why his stock has fallen some.

apb540ParticipantCan’t wait to watch them next year. Roy Williams is going to put 110% into this team and I expect them to def be top 5.

canesboy6ParticipantWill be the year they win it all. James Mcadoo is a manchild, better prospect than Derrick Favors. If it wasn’t for Gilchrist, who I havent seen yet but trust to be good, and the medias lovefest with Austin Rivers, he is the best player in the 2011 high school class. He is better than Harrison Barnes IMO.

JNixonParticipantThat’s what he’s averaging in the stretch of games he’s started since Davis has been out with injury

bigsby22Participantin my mind they are top 5 easy Harrison Barnes is a freak athlete and does it all, UNC is weak in terms of dominant scorers this year and Barnes will be that piece, Roy williams is too good a coach to stay out of the top 10 2 seasons in a row with a player like Barnes coming in
0 - Posted on: Mon, 02/22/2010 - 5:34am #259308
quinceyhodgesi doubt they stay out of the top 10 for another season. i see harrison barnes, possibly, putting up deng type freshman numbers maybe a lil better 15-18ppg 6,7 reb there young players will be a year older plus they will have some good talent come in. im not gonna commit to saying they will be real good just yet though. people made that mistake about freshmen this year and were sadly mistaken
