T-Mac used to be one of my favorite players and I’m excited to see his debut with the Knicks tonight. Reports are that he’ll start. He says he’s close to being 100% and he’s much more explosive than he was the last couple of years with the Rockets.

Let’s play a little over or under for T-Mac’s performance during tonight’s game.

    He’ll play 30 minutes…
    He’ll score 15 points…
    He’ll grab 7 rebounds…
    He’ll pass for 5 assists…
    He’ll have 3 turnovers…
    He’ll have 2 steals…
    He’ll block 2 shots…

i hope as a fan of basketball that tmac can return to what he was doing a few years ago. A prime TMac would be right in the discussion with Kobe, lebron wade and melo.

    He’ll attempt 15 FG’s…
    He’ll attempt 4 three-pointers…
    He’ll attempt 5 free-throws…
    He’ll make 45% of his FG’s…
    He’ll make 50% of his three-pointers…

Yup, I think people forget how good McGrady really was..if he never got injured he would’ve been a top 5 player right now

But for these last 29 games, I wouldnt set the expectation bar too high, but who knows…he can pull a Jamison and go 0-12 or he can explode for 30…..you dont really know how ready he really is…just gotta wait & see

He’s slick by saying that because a pay-cut is what? 10 mil a season? The man makes 21 million now…

    I would love T-mac for like 5yrs/35mil

T-Mac is by no means worth $7 million a year for what he does in 29 games. 29 games is not worth a 5 year deal either. I would give him 2 years guaranteed with a 3rd year as a team option for $12milion.

yeah 3 year 10million makes zero sense.. it would be a slap in the face. he wont get 10 million but he will get a nice amount of money. someone was right when they say people forgot tmac was good before the injury. hell while he was injuried and playing he was good and if he shows he is healthy he will get paid. and he’s only 30 years old

“I’m a guy who has made a lot of money in my career,” Tracy McGrady said. “I could retire right now. . . . Money is not an issue. [If] these guys want to bring in a LeBron [James] and D-Wade [Dwyane Wade], along with a Chris Bosh, or an Amar’e Stoudemire, I would be a damn fool to not want to stay here. “Don’t get me wrong, if I come back healthy and playing well, we’re going to do some negotiating,” he added. “What I’m saying is, if LeBron comes, D-Wade comes and you pair [one of them] up with Stoudemire or Chris Bosh, I know I’m not going to get the big bucks. “But save a little for me, is all I’m saying.”

McGrady has already said he does not care about money and that he has enough money to retire right now so I doubt we’ll have a Latrell Sprewell situation, he also said if they got a big name free agent he’d be a damn fool not accept a paycut so…

On an ordinary team, I don’t think he’d take that kind of paycut… However, playing with two max deal free-agents won’t be a regular team lol. I believe he’d take that paycut to play with two other superstars and play in MSG… And he understands that.

Let’s take it one game at a time man, he’s a PG. His adjustment is going to be a bit longer than any other position on the floor. Rodriguez isn’t the 2nd coming, matter of fact I don’t think he’s going to put up much better stats than Duhon, but I do think he can provide solid assists numbers. Maybe like 7 per game. It’s his 1st game. If your expecting 20 pts and10 assist in someone’s 1st game you’ll be disappointed every time. Let’s not critique a guy on his performance with a new team.

    Lets be real..

Quincey is right in the sense that he is a backup…Nash/J.Williams(SAC) comparison needs to cool down..

However…i dont see Duhon as a better player than him, in this game alone Rodriguez has drove the basket and kicked it out to the open player more times than Duhon has all season..

    Rod: 4pts, 3 ast, 15 minutes
    Duhon: 0pts, 2ast, 20 minutes..

I think before the season is over, he’ll trump Duhon for the starting spot….but hes not going to be anything more than a backup further down the line..

He’s not been in that’s all that’s important. The Knicks are a more competitive less stagnant team when Duhon is on the pine.

Can we just put something in perspective. This thread has got to it’s 3rd page. This game is not an All-Star game, not a playoff game, nor is it the NBA Finals. Don’t get me wrong it’s a great game, but we sure all have a lot to say about this game. Anyone else been thinking that??

If the Knicks win, they could gain confidence. Then they could win more games. Then the Jazz might get the 10th pick or some crap. That would be tUrrrrrrAble!!!

exactly..thats why i think he has the highest potential in his class since hes right up there with everyone while only being in year 2 of being a pg. okc should be a force in 2 years if they keep going at the pace that they are going. imma have to keep a eye in the rearview mirror from my lakers car 🙂

Idk where you’re from or how old you’re, but I remember when I was 6, 7, an 8 and it was the days of Patrick Ewing, Allan Houston, Latrell Sprewell, Charlie Ward, Chris Childs, Charles Oakley, Jeff Van Gundy, and Knicks-Heat Rivalry. Those were the days. If the Knicks get back to that form, the Garden will be like that again.

it will for awhile unless they dont start winning. this is how it rocked when starbury first got there and when d’antoni coached his first couple of games and when steve francis got there. hopefulyl this time the fans there will continue to rock it every game even when the newness wears off

It did rock when Starbury first got there because they made the playoffs, but it wasn’t rocking when Steve Francis got there. It did some when D’antoni came. Though in the mid to late 90s the Garden was the place to be, now it is not.

The Knicks were selling out every home game for a good 6 year period, now it’s rare they sell out.

    Yeah, it would’ve been a great story…

But Durant was clutch & on fire, and T-Mac said in the end he had NO legs…

So once he gets some more stability, and the rest of the guys get more chemistry, i expect us to do well for these last 28 games

T-Mac was playing with a purpose tonight. He showed off that classic pull-up of his, made some great passes and made good decisions overall. When the trade went down, I remember hearing my friends say that he wouldn’t be that good anymore because he wasn’t the same athlete, but T-Mac was an elite athlete in his prime. Therefore, his athleticism went from elite to average, and an average athlete can get to the hoop with enough length, ball-handling ability and savvy, which McGrady has in his arsenal, to say the least. I know it’s his first game back, but I’m still concerned about his knee; it kept him out of action during the end of the 4th and O.T (he was in the game, but all he did was inbound the ball, and I saw him rubbing it on the sideline). My expectations for him for the rest of the year are 15 P.P.G and 4 A.P.G.

Eddie House did what he does best: shoot the ball. It’s a bit nerve-racking to see him shoot off-balance with such a quick release, but it goes in at a regular percentage, and that’s all that matters. He did more dribbling tonight than I’ve seen him do in a while, and he really surprised me with his passes.

Sergio Rodriguez is exactly what an up-tempo team needs at point guard. He’s gonna be a steal if he can keep penetrating and dishing like he did tonight. He made a lot of good passes after collapsing the defense, especially to an open David Lee. I hope he can keep it up. I don’t really like that Duhon guy, and I think that’s a consensus on this site.
