IndianaBasketballParticipantBoth players worked out for the Mavs on Fri and the report is that the Mavs are deciding between the two.
The Mavs need a guard who can handle the ball and shoot. Who’d be the better choice skill and team chemistry wise?

JNixonParticipantNeither one can handle the ball that great, but I think McCants would be better. He’s a slightly better shooter than Wafer is, and he defends much better when he wants to prove something against a matchup or team. Wafer doesn’t play defense no matter what matchup/team
Neither really have been known as guys with great attitudes or guys that are unselfish, but Wafer is less of a chemistry problem. I think both of these players provide the same things so I wouldn’t criticize either move if Dallas picked up one of them.

IndianaBasketballParticipantLong time no see Kacey!
I agree with you. I was thinking that the Mavericks should wait and see who’s bought out or waived before they decide on one of these two…

gatorheelsParticipantMcCants is the better shooter & better scorer. He CAN play defense when he tries ha. Not sure how he fits in chemistry wise though.

scoutguruParticipantI mean come on, how many guys can really play D in the nba. How many guys can really stop anyone. I’d go with mccants, just like his scoring abilities better than wafer. But wafer’s not bad either. Either way, both fit the mold of a scoring 2 guard who can give you that spark off the bench.

canesboy6ParticipantI dont think there will be many chemistry issues. McCants has to have been humbled by being out of the league, I bet he is working his butt off. He can be an Eddie House, Jordan Farmar, Flip Murray type of shooting/scoring guard, while understanding his role. The Mav’s are LOADED right now IMO and the top of the west could be a dogfight.
