IndianaBasketballParticipantSiena 31 Butler 28
This game started early, but I’m happy I made it! These are two tough teams, especially defensively. I think both of these teams should make the tournament regardless of if they win their conference tournaments. This would be a HUGE win for Siena and they played like the wanted it more in the first half.
Siena
Clarence Jackson – I didn’t know much about him coming into this game, but he was impressive to start the game. He was very aggressive and shot the ball well. He had a really fast start scoring 14 points, but really didn’t do anything the last 12 minutes of the first half.
Ronald Moore – I see how he leads the nation in assists. He has great court vision and really looks for his teammates. He’s not a very good scorer though. I think Butler will look to make him score the ball during the 2nd half.
Ryan Rossiter – Very solid player who scores well and has nice moves around the basket. He started off slow, but picked it up late in the 2nd half. He’s outplayed Matt Howard the first half.
Edwin Ubiles – He didn’t do much and really wasn’t a factor in the first half. I was looking forward to him defending Hayward. He has the athleticism, but he really doesn’t have the size. He’s like 3 inches shorter than Hayward.
Butler
Gordon Hayward – I’m very high on him. The more and more I watch him, the more confident I am he could be a lottery pick next season. He did everything well the first half. He shot the ball well, rebounded and created for his teammates. Defense isn’t his strength, but he was respectable. Butler is missing a key offensive player in Willie Veasley, so this will be a good game to judge if Hayward has what it takes to be aggressive offensively and lead his team to victory.
Matt Howard – He’s really struggling this game. Siena has made it tough on him and he’s turned the ball over a few times and picked up fouls. If Butler is to win this game, he has to play better in the 2nd half.

knicksfan7ParticipantWoke up early to watch the game, it was a good game the score doesn’t indicate the game. I really like Hayward guy has great court vision. Ubiles was a non-factor the whole game, I expected a lot more from him. And if Ronald Moore had a Jump shot he would be in the NBA. I don’t think I have seen any player with a worse shot than Ron Moore.

IndianaBasketballParticipantButler came to play in the second half. They increased their defensive intensity and shut down everybody on Siena not named Clarence Jackson. They were down by three points at the half and ended up winning by 17. This all with their big man Matt Howard on the bench with foul trouble majority of the half. Shelvin Mack was huge in the second half for Butler. He and Zach Hahn broke the game open with their three-point shooting.
Siena will most likely have to win their conference tournament now just to get into the tournament. I hope they do because they’re a very good team. I think they could shock somebody in the first round of the tournament.
Siena
Jackson – He was the only guy who had something going for Siena. He’s a very good scorer showing the ability to shoot and put the ball on the floor. He’ll make some money overseas.
Moore – He’s a very good point guard… He just can’t shoot a lick. Butler did exactly what I said they’d do the second half… They dared him to shoot. He missed every single shot. He’ll get looked at this summer during camps, but his inability to put the ball in the basket will push him overseas.
Rossiter – I thought he’d do some damage the second half when Howard picked up his fourth foul, but he was a no show. He only scored two points. He’s only a junior so he’ll be back next season. He needs to add some weight. If he does, he could be a pro prospect.
Ubiles – He was a no show. Other than a dunk on Hayward late in the half, he didn’t score. He’s a good on ball defender, but that’s about it. He didn’t really defend Hayward as much as I thought he would due to the size difference I think. He has good athleticism, but I don’t really see him getting drafted. He’ll get some looks this summer though.
Butler
Hayward – 15 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks. He did a little of everything. He can shoot it. He’s very aggressive rebounding the ball and crashing the offensive glass. He has a high motor in that regard. He can handle the ball and is comfortable putting the ball on the floor. He creates for his teammates and has great court vision. He has very good body control. Defensively, he’s solid. He competes. He actually showed very good lateral movement today and defended on the perimeter well. Like I said… I’m high on him. He’s 6′ 9″ and still growing and he has a lot of length. He’s already 200 lbs, but can add 15-20 more lbs on his frame. Somebody on here said he was weak, which is untrue. He’s only 19 years old. He has a lot of potential. I think he’s a a first round pick this year and has a chance at the lottery next season. Keep an eye on him.
Howard – He picked up his fourth foul really fast and sat the bench for majority of the half. He probably had his worst game of the season and it’s surprising Butler was able to win by this big of a margin without him.

knicksfan7ParticipantThe thing I loved most about Hayward was his court vision and handles in the open court. Very few guys at his height can do that in the NBA, and how he got overlooked by Big Ten schools such as Purdue and Indiana is beyond me. This guy can flat out play. I think he is a better overall player than Robbie Hummel.

IndianaBasketballParticipantHe’s much better than Hummel. He was a late bloomer in high school who really didn’t hit the map until around his junior and senior seasons. He’s only just beginning to realize how good he can be.
He had scouts from the Suns, Spurs, Rockets and of course the Pacers there to watch him play.

knicksfan7ParticipantI wonder if he had any offers from an Indiana or Purdue to transfer after his freshman year. He has the potential to be a very good pro. Also, Butler’s coach Brad Stevens he is going places for sure. Tezo, next year can you treat me to a Butler game, I really want to watch Hayward in person as well as go to Hinkle Fieldhouse, lol.

JNixonParticipantUbiles was a disappointment man. A HUGE disappointment. Hayward was very good though. I’m still not really sold on him being more than a bench player in the NBA, but he played good

IndianaBasketballParticipantLol yea I’ll treat you to a Butler game next season. Hinkle is great man. It has an old school feel to it. I used to love it when our high school team or AAU team got to play there lol.
Brad Stevens is a great coach… He’s loyal though. It’ll be a few years before he leaves. No doubt though… He’ll be at a big time program eventually and follow down the road of Thad Matta.
Iggy… Don’t forget that Hayward is only 19 years old and a late bloomer. He’s just now realizing how good he can be. He has a lot of potential.

knicksfan7ParticipantThanks Man. I will have to figure out a way to get there once the schedule comes out. Brad Stevens seems like the Bruce Pearl of the Horizon, idk if many ppl remember that Bruce Pearl was at Milwaukee before Tennessee, very underrated conference the horizon is.
