Hakim Warrick

I think you’re expectations were a little high for him. He was always going to be a little undersized for the 4, or underskilled for the 3.

I could have seen him being a 13 to 15 point, 6 to 7.5 board guy though…

but if he has a chance to play for a great point guard that knows how to make ppl better…he can be alot more productive…that and adding a face up game..and he can be that 15-17 point guy with 6 to 8 reb….

i think your expectations were high for hakim warrick, he got drafted a week before his 23rd birthday so you know he didnt have that high of a ceiling..i think 10 and 5 is what hakim will produce for the rest of his career (4-5 more years-hes already 27)…he cant score from the outside (hes 1-6 from the 3 point line in his career) and hes only 219 lbs. so hes not gonna score on you in the post

Yeah, as a KU fan I belive Michael Lee’s 3 pointer was going in to win the NCAA championship until Hakeem got his finger on it, lol
I actually like him as a pro though though, I don’t see him as a 20 and 10 guy though, but I think he is an upgrade from Tyrus Thomas and Taj Gibson on offense and his experience will help the young Chicago team this season in possibly holding on to one of the last playoff spots. I know Chicago was pretty much dumping contracts to go after a free agent, but I think Warrick would be a guy worth trying to hold on to, he see him more of a 13 ppg 7 rpg guy though.

Hakim Warrick will put up about 11 ppg and 6 rebs. 20-10? He’s too much of a tweener for that, and he doesn’t have any true standout skill offensively to average 20 ppg

hakim warrick is a pure scorer in the Adrian Dantley mold,

I believe that if he had went to a team that cant afford to he went to

at his best he is a mini-version, he is still best suited at the three, when he signed with the bucks he wanted to be slotted at the 3 spot but

when u look at the Bucks roster the bucks had a lot of undersized 4s
so the best post defender usually ended up guarding Hakim and the opposing 3 went and defende the less physical players

if he landed on a roster with a physical PF that would make opponents pay for switching then he would probably be around a 20ppg guy

-he is extremely good at drawing fouls
-his length allows him to shoot over smaller 3s (ala a post up version of Outlaw)
-he is good at drawing fouls in the post

but when u look at the roster of the bulls they are undersized too

I like a lot of your observations about Hakim Warrick, I don’t disagree with all your points, but this one im going to point out is an emphatic yes

but to say he is a scorer in the mold of Adrian Dantley is pretty laughable.
Hall of Famer – Adrian Dantley, 6 time all-star Adrian Dantley 23,000 point scorer Adrian Dantley,…comon the guy averaged over 30ppg for a season twice in his career.

Adrian Dantley was the #1 scoring option for his team the majority of his career, got to the line about 8.7 times per game for his career, and numbers arent everything, but Dantley averaged 35.8 mintues per game on his career so it’d be a perfect opportunity to compare his stats with Warrick’s per 36 minutes.

Dantley 24.3 ppg 5.7 rpg 3.0 apg .2 bpg 1.0 spg 8.7 ft attemtps per game for an 82% free throw percentage
Warrick 16.9 ppg 7.2 rpg 1.2 apg .6 bpg .7 spg 6.1 ft attemps per game for a 72% free throw percentage

They are two very different players, sure they both can score without a 3 point shot, but Dantley attacked the basket with wreckless abandon in his playing days and converted his free throws at an extremely high percentage. Warrick is pretty well rounded offensively, but if he were to get his scoring up to 20 ppg it would be as a second option. I don’t want to sound like I’m ranting too much, which I know I probably am, but a Hall of Famer and a solid versitile 3rd option are two very different things, Dantley was also 6’5” and played a lot of shooting guard too, I can kinda see where you begin to make your comparison, but I just don’t see it a post up 6’9” player who, yes does draw a pretty good amount of fouls to one of the prolific scorers of the last 30 years.
