Mr. BasketballParticipanti think they are now the favorites to win the title.
assuming they didn’t give up hickson:
williams, west, lebron, hickson, jamison, varejao, shaq…

OldSkoolBasketballParticipantI remember seeing Lebron and him on a cover of a magazine.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 2:24pm #257173

RickyRubio9ParticipantI was wrong
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 2:27pm #257179

MagikKnickParticipantCavs got a good deal, all they had to give up was a 1st rounder & Big Z, who would probably be released, and then sign back with the Cavs anyway
Didnt have to give up JJ, only a 1st round pick..which im sure they could care less about
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 2:29pm #257182

M-DYMESParticipantWhat if they get Amare too!!!??? Insane. I doubt it happens but they still probably have the pieces to get Amare given that they only gave up Big Z and a 1st (essentially a second). IDK how interested they would be, but they might still have the Suns interest.
Williams
LBJ
Amare
Jamison
ShaqMaybe not that exact lineup due to a lack of a shooter at the 3 (if LBJ would play 2), but that looks pretty damn scary on paper.
Have to look at the financial interest but it might still be a possibility.0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 2:30pm #257183
quinceyhodgesfavorites to win the title?..ummm no… they still gotta prove it on the court and in the playoffs. games are played on the court and titles are won in the playoffs not on paper. i would think youre team would have taught you that by now

DanEboyParticipant^ this guy
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 2:47pm #257196
quinceyhodgesyeah this guy. as well as the guys on pti and kenny smith when they said the road still goes through l.a even if either trade happened because you have to prove it first
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 2:48pm #257197
knicksfan7ParticipantI think if the Cavs resign Big Z once he gets resigned this could be the deepest cavs team Lebron has been apart of and are now the clear cut favorites in the east. With a starting 5 of Mo-Parker-LBJ-Jamison-Shaq with a bench of Big Z, Hickson, Varejao, Gibson, West, Telfair, Jawad Williams, Leon Powe, and Jamario Moon some1 is going to lose playing time.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 3:09pm #257215
BasketballGuru24ParticipantLakers are the still the fav in my eyes……but the cavs made it extremely interesting. Lets see how jamison meshes with the crew.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 3:30pm #257226

TONYDABOSS77Participantexpect. . . . .
1.lebron’s assists to to keep increasing. .
2.cleveland to keep winning
3.lakers vs. cavs finals in play0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 3:47pm #257241
quinceyhodgesi hope they play in the finals. but ill wait and see. im sure some have learned form last year when cleveland had th best record in the nba but couldnt get to the finals. only makes sense to not hold youre breath
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 3:51pm #257243

marcusfizer21ParticipantI’m liking this deal… Sure Jamison is not a pogo-stick leaper like Amare but I feel he’s more fundamentally sound and could very well compliment LBJ and Shaq all the way… That’s how desperate the Cavs are in retaining their King in their kingdom…
Big Z will be back wearing a Cavs uniform.. You better believe that…LOL
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 3:53pm #257245

IndianaBasketballParticipantSo let me get this straight… Clippers traded Bassy and Thornton for Drew Gooden? I expect Gooden to be bought out.
This must clearly be a salary dump… The Clippers are now in position to land a max deal free-agent this summer. Bassy is an underrated pickup for Cleveland.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 3:58pm #257250

MagikKnickParticipantI think Williams is hurt right now, but I doubt “Bassy” plays, he’ll be competing with Gibson, West, and Williams for playtime
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 4:01pm #257254
quinceyhodgesman the wizards are having a straight fire sale. some players will be scoring more then they usually do because of all the shots that open up and of course some people on here are gonna think they are better then they are because they will be scoring more. and yeah ant is a better fit for cleveland because of he can also hit the 3 and midrange more cosnsitantly as well as being a better defender. i didnt know they got to keep kickson as well…nicccceee
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 4:06pm #257261

TONYDABOSS77Participantbut can they put it together
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 4:11pm #257269

IndianaBasketballParticipantDoes anybody know how much the Wizards have shed off their salary by trading Butler and Jamison?
I’m not for sure, but the only player they’ve traded for who has a contract beyond this season is Thornton.
I really like this move for Cleveland… He’s not as flashy as Stoudemire, but I think he’s a better fit.
I guess this means Miami will probably get Stoudemire.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 4:14pm #257272
quinceyhodgesi was wondering the same thing. and if they void gilberts contract, which the players union wont allow unless he gets jail time, they might just have the lowest pay roll in the history of the nba( not counting expansion or back when players werent getting paid alot)
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 4:20pm #257282

The8thDeadlySinParticipantJamison is defiantly a better fit than Amare.. Amare wanted to be a clear cut second fiddle or even a first option where ever he went.. He wouldnt be the that in Cleveland.. He would have to compete with Mo and Shaq for shots… Not to mention he is a young, heady player… Jamison on the other hand is mature and willing, im sure, to be a third option, if he has to, in order to win a ring….
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 4:55pm #257325

d-grizzlyParticipantman i just saw this deal, this is getting interesting. all the cavs gave up was big z and a pick…and they get a quality player like jamison…… I feel like the cavs are going to be the winners of the east, but will it be enough to beat the lakers?…that’s the real question…
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 4:58pm #257332

The8thDeadlySinParticipantReally, all the Cavs gave up was a pick.. Big Z will be bought out and resign in 30 days…
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 5:00pm #257334

d-grizzlyParticipanteven better..it’s just a pick…. LMAO.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 5:19pm #257351
powerguard97Participantthe Jamison to Cleveland was a good deal for Cleveland offensively, and clearly puts Cleveland as teh favorites in the East. Where did Telfair come from? I believe that Mo Williams shoulder injury is alot serious then we are led to believe. Mike Brown doesnt trust his other guards Gibson, West, Parker. Lebron James is the first player in NBA history to be the Star Player, Coach, GM, President..Lebron is the Jackie Moon of the Cleveland Cavs.
The only concern that i have with this trade is the size matchup with Boston and Lakers. Jamison stands 6’10 but he is in no way a very good defender, nor is he physical especially with the shoulder problems to contend with Sheed, Gasol, Garnett. I would take Sheed, KG, Perkins as a stronger front court then Shaq, Varajoa and Jamison. Lakers can always do this to Cleveland..
Bynum 7′ 1
Gasol 7′ 0
Odom 6′ 10
Bryant 6′ 7
Fisher 6′ 2….throw in Artest at 6’8Is Leon Powe going to play this season for Cleveland??? how are they going to fit in J.J. Hickson??Cleveland is strong enough for Orlando; Agile enough to run with the Hawks; but i still dont think that Cleveland is not big enough for Boston and LA. Overall fro Cleveland a very good trade. It will be interesting to see if the adding of a “scoring PF” (Jamison) and not a “defensive minded” PF such as KG in 2008 for Boston, and Sheed in 2004 with the Pistons can win a Championship.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 5:22pm #257354

IndianaBasketballParticipantI wonder why Cleveland didn’t try to trade for Marcus Camby? A tall, long rebounder and defender at the four is what they need… He’d have also been a helluva lot more cheaper than Jamison.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 5:23pm #257357

llperezi don’t know who the favorite is, but if the cavs don’t win this year, that officially puts to rest all the lebron doesn’t have enough help talk.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 5:23pm #257358

The8thDeadlySinParticipantIs Kobe really 6’7?? I thought like 6’5 as a max… Wow… that means he is pretty much Lebron’s height…
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 5:52pm #257410

IndianaBasketballParticipantKobe is 6′ 6″
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 6:04pm #257434

JNixonParticipantJamison gives them a 2nd/3rd scorer that they need. He also provides rebounding. He’s not big on defense, but they have Varejao for that. This sends Varejao to the bench, and that’s exactly what he is. A bench player. But a solid role-playing bench guy. Telfair gives them a true PG (which they don’t really have) who has quietly developed the ability to make open shots. Very good move.
Nick Young gets to show what he can do now. This will go a long way into showing what type of player he really is. Also this is critical for guys like Andray Blatche and JaVale McGee, who are going to get a great deal more time.
The Clippers now have time freed up for DeAndre Jordan. This will be a critical time for him and his development as well. This also makes things less complicated for when they have to squeeze Blake Griffin into the rotation. Most importantly, they now have the cap to get a max player in the 2010 circus.
I think all 3 teams benefit from this deal in some important ways.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 6:07pm #257437

IndianaBasketballParticipantThe only thing I worry about from the Cavs’ perspective is JJ Hickson. What happens to his minutes now?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/17/2010 - 6:20pm #257452
powerguard97ParticipantIf you play Telfair that give the defense an extra defender to double Lebron. Telfair has NBA bloodlines, NBA speed, NBA handles, and NBA court vision. He still has that same Lincoln High School jumpshot he is not consistant with his 14-18 foot jumpshot, which is pivital in the NBA. He makes them a liability, teams do not fear his jumpshot or his half court game…he is a full court player, open court player who has failed to show the maturity of a NBA point guard who can run and control an offense..
Now is when Telfair can redeem himself and his career. He would have been a much better point guard had he let Rick Patino coach him up at Louisville. Mo Williams i believe has a very serious shoulder injury that Cleveland is failing to tell us. Also Lebron may leave even if he wins the NBA title.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/18/2010 - 1:31am #257587

Anton123ParticipantPowe is now completly unneeded, if he plays better than hickson, than Hickson won’t get any playing time, though Jamison could play the three
