DanEboyParticipantAnyone else excited about the 2nd half of the season?
As the trade deadline approaches, and the rumors keep flying, I am getting antsy waiting to see if any big moves happen. The Blazers just got a whole lot better with an elite defender and ultimate team guy in Camby. With Roy coming back, and if they stay at the 8th seed, a first round matchup with the Lakers would be highly entertaining to watch.
I think Amare will get moved and it seems he wants to play with LeBron, he even tweeted that he and Shaq could play well together. The Suns do not want to pay him 17mil next year so I assume they are going to do what they can to move him. I have a feeling that the Celtics are not going to be able to trade Allen and his 20mil contract. I also think Murphy could really help a playoff team and it will be interesting to see if and where he goes. As a Bulls fan, I am hoping they can get good value for Tyrus, such as a middle 1st draft pick this year.
The MVP race appears to be headed to Cleveland but the scoring title could come right down to the wire between James, Durant, and Melo. Maybe even down to the last day like when The Admiral dropped 70 to beat out Shaq. I think Durant will end up taking the first of many scoring titles; he has dropped 25+ in 25 straight games. Of course the record is 40 by Jordan. More proof to just how amazing Jordan was.
The ROY race could get interesting too. I know that Tyreke is far ahead right now but Curry has been steam rolling lately and could make it interesting. The West is loaded with rookies this year in Tyreke, Curry, Collison, Casspi, Lawson, Flynn, Harden, and Blake when he gets healthy. Looks like the balance of power between the 2 conferences will have to wait a while.
The first round of the playoffs could be filled with exciting match ups as well if seeds fall into place.
Cavs vs Heat- Just for the Wade / LeBron battles alone.
Bulls vs Celtics- Rematch of the most exciting playoff series ever. Arguably, that is.
Mavs vs Spurs- Two veteran, fundamental teams going at it.
Nuggets vs Suns- non-stop offense
Laker vs Blazers- With Camby, could they really test the Lakers?
I am looking forward to an exciting 2nd half. What are you guys looking forward to?
Is any other rookie going to have a big 2nd half?
Who will win the scoring title?
Any teams going to go on a tear? or fall off?
Can the Lakers be knocked out before the finals?
Darkhorses? The forum has been quiet since the All-Star game, let’s get it going again.

ThaMatrixParticipantHere are some thoughts.
Rookie that will have a big second half – James harden/D. Derozan? maybe Derozan will go on a tear with all the confidence.
Scoring Title – I’ll have to go with Lebron.
Team to go on a tear – We’ll see how dallas does with the trade. Maybe it will re-energize them after a tough stretch.
Lakers be knocked out before finals – As i said, Dallas will be a tough team to beat. Even for the Lakers.
Darkorses – Definetley Toronto, Chicago, Memphis

DanEboyParticipantI am thinking that if Amare gets traded, Earl Clark could start getting more minutes and show what he can do.

quinceyhodgesi see amare ultimately going to the heat. everyone knows thats his 1st choice then the cavs. im interested to see what the heat will give up for him if it happens though. the east will become less clear if he goes to the cavs or heat. i still think the west goes through l.a. hell the lakers are the defending champs so the title goes through them period

DanEboyParticipantThe Heat have more to offer in Beasley and draft picks. I still think he ends up with LeBron though. I want to see that Cavs vs Lakers finals.

the I in winParticipantIs any other rookie going to have a big 2nd half? I say James Harden, he has played ok this season but i expect him to pick it up
Who will win the scoring title? Kevin Durant
Any teams going to go on a tear? or fall off? Celtics, I think they are going to fall on their face
Can the Lakers be knocked out before the finals? If Denver plays good, but probably not
Darkhorses? Heat if they get amare, Dallas because of the trade (they were good anyways), Atlanta like every year.0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/16/2010 - 2:48pm #256878

llperezhere are some things I’m looking forward to seeing in the second half the season:
Will the cavs make a big move or stay put seeing as how they are in first place.
Who get’s in the playoffs out west. Right now i figure lakers, nuggets, spurs, mavericks, and jazz should all get in. That leaves 3 spots for the suns, rockets, grizz, thunder, blazers, and hornets to battle for.
Can boston get it turned around.
Can the lakers come back on the cavs and get the top record
Is dallas gonna be a contender with butler
Can DCollison keep up the great play while paul is out.

kurtu17Participantif dallas ever beats the lakers in a series it wont be this year cuz if they can beat lakers they will win the title..and i dont thinnk many teams that make a big trade in the middle of the year has ever won a title..i think the last was Rasheed wallace when he went to the pistons…plus it takes bout a year or more to get the true chemistry to win a championship….so i say no to dallas this year maybe next…

quinceyhodgesim not seeing dalls being awhole lot better. josh howard does almost the same things butler does except in the stronger west and haywood and dampier are pretty similar except dampier is also playing in the tougher west

the I in winParticipantButler is a better scorer and defender and plays like he actually wants to play unlike Howard. Haywood and Damp are about the same, all the points are made by someone else but Haywood has never had a play maker like J Kidd.

the I in winParticipantkurtu17 what? If they beat the Lakers i would be impressed but that doesn’t give them the championship. Their are plenty of other teams they would have to go through.

quinceyhodgeshe’s a better scorer this year i agree but he didnt score much more then howard in the past abd he played in the weaker east. im not curious to see how he does out in the west. last time he played out here(lakers) he wasnt so great

IndianaBasketballParticipantDallas will be a much better team.
Butler is a much better player than Howard. For one, he’s reliable. Howard hasn’t been consistently healthy in like two seasons. Butler is also better down the stretch. He’s a player that has shown he can make game winning buckets, which I think will benefit Dirk.
Offensively, they’re a wash, but… Haywood is an upgrade over Damp on defense. He’s a much better shot blocker, which is what Dallas needs. Actually I think Haywood is better than Damp all around. He’s having somewhat of a breakout season.
