There are only 2 trades I would be cool with the Knicks doing if they were to acquire Tracy McGrady and those would be as follows

    Knicks Receive
    Tracy McGrady

    Rockets Receive
    Jared Jeffries
    Eddy Curry
    Nate Robinson or Al Harrington

That’s true, it pains me the Knicks don’t have a 1st round pick this year especially there own because I would be all for being in the John Wall sweepstakes.

The Knicks and Rockets have made progress on a proposed trade that would send Jared Jeffries, Jordan Hill and either Al Harrington or Larry Hughes in exchange for Tracy McGrady, Joey Dorsey and Brian Cook.

Yahoo! Sports reports that “an agreement is within reach” and that the two teams are “increasingly confident” that the trade will be completed before Thursday’s deadline.

In a part of the deal described as “fluid,” the Knicks might swap 2011 picks with the Rockets and/or send their 2012 pick to Houston. One of New York’s 2010 second-round picks could also be sent to the Rockets.

The deal would give the Rockets young talent in exchange for McGrady, a player no longer in the team’s plans, while the Knicks have a look at McGrady the rest of this season and clear approximately $9.5 million more of salary cap room for their summer free-agent pursuits.

RealGM Note: The Knicks will have enough cap room to offer one maximum contract this summer and, with the removal of Jeffries’ from the team’s payroll, could have an additional $17 million or more to spend. If the salary cap does not drop considerably this summer, the Knicks’ ability to shed Jeffries, along with Hill, could therefore mean that New York has the extra cap room needed to offer a second maximum contract this summer.

Yeah I am not feeling that trade, I would rather dump Curry over Jeffries because Curry makes $4million more than Jeffries, but that’s impossible for a team to be willing to take curry.

It would have to be Larry Hughes because Hughes makes $3mil more than Harrington and for the deal to work Hughes would be have to be in it, not Harrington. Though, I would rather give up Harrington and Curry rather than Hughes because that would work as well, and assure the Knicks the ability to sign 2 max free agents.

For Whatever its worth, Marc Berman said he just saw Hill & Jeffries arrive in Chicago with the rest of team…and Jeffries said he hasnt heard anything, so i doubt anything has been done if they’re both with the team…

The first Trade Proposal is Horrible…We don’t need no undersized Shooting Guard & Don’t want Eddy Curry, no offense but you’re thinking like all the other Knicks Fans. That every team is suppose to help you all.
The trade I been hearing has been posted up already on here, but it isn’t confirmed..I think it’s a somewhat solid Deal…J-Hill is good, but we’re stacked at the PF…It’s all good

The Knicks are getting ripped in that reported trade. We give up a second rounder this year plus swap picks next year then give up another firts rounder in 2012? That sucks. The knicks need to hold onto their draft picks. I also dont like the idea of trading Hill before we’ve gotten to see anything from him after we passed on Jennings for him. All this to rent McGrady?

Id like to see the Knicks keep Hill,But I think the Knicks believe especially if they get rid of Jeffries contract, plus the 3 mil that Hill is owed next year that they can resign Lee and get a superstar, plus sign another non superstar good player. So The need for a pf wouldnt be there for the Knicks, plus there have been questions about Hills work ethic.

I like the trade until it comes to the draft picks. Unless we get Lebron, I want the Knicks to hold off on spending until 2011 and try to get someone like Knight in the draft next year.

knicksfreak, this trade isn’t to rent mcgrady. it’s to free up more money for the big free agent market this offseason.

    to knicks:
    t-mac 1 yr-$23 mil
    dorsey 3 yr-$0.9 mil
    cook 1 yr-$3.5 mil

    +$25.5 mil for ’10

    to rockets:
    jeffries 2 yr-$6.5 mil
    hughes 1 yr-$13.5 mil
    hill 2 yr-$2.5 mil

    +$4.5 mil for ’10

i think this is a bad trade for the rockets. they should hold onto t-mac’s contract and go after bosh. think of the starting line-up.

    c-yao
    pf-bosh
    sf-ariza
    sg-battier
    pg-brooks

one of the top frontcourts (if not the best) in the west, solid wing defenders and brooks as a 3rd option.

If this trade is for straight players and players only then by all means pull the trigger on this trade. I would love to see more out of Hill before he was traded, seeing how the Knicks blundered not drafting Jennings. The Knicks need to stop giving away draft picks! Then again if Walsh is not going to do his HW and throw his scouts under the bus, then they should just give them away. HA!

Knicks probably won’t be bad enough to be 2nd worst in the league even if the trade goes through.
Their schedule isn’t too bad the rest of the way their probly better than the Warriors and Wizards.
If they do add 2 big names free agents those pick won’t mean anything becaz they’ll be a contending team.
Still would like to keep the 2012 1st rounder.

Rockets can’t afford Chris Bosh he’s getting big money in the summer.
They still have to pay Kyle Lowry and if you have Bosh and Yao on the both thats 2 guys who ‘s strenghs aren’t being physical.

I like the deal not really cool with the draft picks but as much as i think Hill has promise this year’s draft is full of nice power forwards also with team being carefull about spending there will be a lot of bargain guys that are at least on Hill’s current level that the Knicks can add. The way the Knicks are planning it, their future 1st would be in the 20’s anyway if they can get a least one superstar and if they get James those first round picks are not much to brag about seeing they would have maybe a top 5 record at least. Once the Knicks get their guys they will not mind going over the cap to get talent so I think the biggest thing is to move contract money so they can sign superstars then add pieces. There are so many bargain players that will be hyped to sign with Lebron and another star if he joins the Knicks that they will take some of the Mid level exception and not all of it too do it. Will Bynum, Rasul Butler, Randy Foye, Mike Miller, C J Watson, Brad Miller, and maybe even Jermaine O’neal. Seriously who has money for all these players T Mac will also be a free agent. Boozer will be and so will Joe Johnson. There will be so nice talent that you can get for like 2 and 3 million dollars and they Knicks are in place to sign young veterans at cheap prices than be too concerned with drafting players that could be Tyreke Evans or Hasheem Thabeet.

I am tired of the way Ownership runs themselves. James Dolan knows nothing about Basketball, but gets in the way of Walsh. I am not putting aside Walsh’s mistakes of not drafting Jennings, but he has had more successes so far than mistakes. To me I see it like this. The Knicks aren’t getting Lebron, Lebron will either stay in Cleveland or join Dwyane Wade in Miami. While Lebron would make the Knicks an instant playoff team it would be another 2-3 years for them to be contenders for the NBA Finals. That in short is too long for Lebron. If I were Donnie Walsh I would focus on resigning Lee and going after Joe Johnson as well as a mid-level exception point guard. That would give a starting lineup with point guard-Joe Johnson-Gallo-Chandler-Lee with a bench of Toney Douglas, Jared Jeffries, Jordan Hill, Marcus Landry and maybe some others too far ahead to have a say. Or the Knicks should trade away Wilson Chandler for a 1st round pick and draft a point guard, though I think they could get someone in the 2nd round who can start instantly (Sherron Collins or Scottie Reynolds as 2 names). The Knicks won’t be ready to be a playoff team til I think the 2011-12 season, but the next season 10-11 is a possibility.

Everyone makes good points…i like this trade to the Knicks only because i still hope that Tracy Mcgrady has something left to prove instead of being hurt every season. The Knicks need a scoring backcourt and a center that can rebound, and defend thats always been there key to success. Frazier and Monroe, Houston and Spreewell succesful backcourt duos along with Marcus Camby, Patrick Ewing, and Willis Reed. Not sure who Tracy McGradys running mate will be for the second half of the season if he is traded. Everyone is in the sweepstakes for Lebron James but there are only a few teams that he will go to. I do not think he will be in Miami with Wade cause i believe that Wade will be Chicago next season. Knicks have alot of young tallent it will be interesting to see who they will move if the deal is done.

What I hope for if the Knicks do get McGrady is he simply tears it up and leads us to the playoffs and proves all the doubters wrong. I know it’s a stretch but this is my team and I ride it out with them. I am no fair weather fan, that’s for pussies. If lebron were to follow wade to chicago they might as well cancel the season with a starting lineup of Rose-Wade-Lebron-Gibson-Noah. That would be deadly.

The Bulls know about this…Bulls are a very sneaky franchise, just like the big talks to Ben Wallace while he was in Detroit during the season when Ben Wallace recieved the $40M deal. Bulls will be welcoming D Wade this summer. He is a local product. Back to the Knicks what style fo play are they???? are they European? Pick and Roll? Transition Team? if they add McGrady we know they will have to be Pick and Roll, I believe the Knicks should really let Nate Robinson become the starting PG..Duhon jus doesnt do it for me as a starting point guard in Madison Square Garden….he is no Mark Jackson, Chris Childs, not even a Howard Eisley.

Lebron is not going to Miami lol. Also if Lebron joins any team in the NBA now they are immediately top 8. Dolan could be a worse owner like the cheaps ones so i think now that he has a decent GM not real high on Walsh but he is alright. Also Bosh can be gotten and I think he is a lock for the Knicks. Joe Johnson could use a look as well. Now that Marcus Camby is out of LA, maybe he goes back to New York where he is loved. Camby Bosh and if not Lebron Joe Johnson and some cheap solid vets at least makes Knicks a top 5 team in the East. They could set some deals in place with teams to give them money for draft picks and just not complete the trade until after they get their free agency stuff on lock. Also T Mac still has something left and also it is normally the year after the knee recovery that a player seems more comfortable anyway.

his knee, his back McGrady is always hurt. when was the last time McGrady has played 60 games in a season???? Hes a risk, but he is going to be for cheap cause of his injuries. McGrady cant play with another tallented backcourt mate, due to injuries he and Grant Hill didnt work. McGrady and Vince Carter looked explosive to me when in Toronto and he left to become the go to guy….can he be that wing man as he gets older???
