llperezi was just looking at his stats this season in games where he get’s at least 25 minutes. So far he has gotten 25 minutes in 14 games.
35min…16.8pts…7.5asst…3.2reb…44%fg
He has looked even better then i expected when given the opportunities. He is also very good defensivley. With his ability to get in the lane and run an offense like a veteran i think this guy could prove to be a steal in this draft.
so far in the first half tonight against boston, he has 9pts 6 asst and 3 steals.

gatorheelsParticipantI’m glad I got him on my fantasy team haha
Seriously though he has been very solid. The Hornets could end up getting something good for him because his trade value is constantly going up.

quinceyhodgesi knew he’d be a good player but not this good. alot of people talked about how nba ready he was before the draft. im curious to see how well he plays after teams defenses adjust to to him

gatorheelsParticipantHaha no they aren’t going to trade him now. But next season when Paul is healthy I think the Hornets would consider trading Collison if the offer is right.

DanEboyParticipantThey will have to let him go eventually. If he keeps it up teams are going to want to pay him some money.

JoeWolf1He could play a Bobby Jackson to Mike Bibby role and be a top notch 6th man and backup point guard for New Orleans

LazarusMunozParticipantin the rookie class behind Evans(not sure id call Evans a pure pg)

JoeWolf1I disagree, I think Ty Lawson is better when he gets minutes his numbers are at least as good if not better and his shooting percentages are insane. I also think Brandon Jennings is better too, you can knock his turnovers and shooting percentages, but for a rookie pg to start all season those things are kind of expected. I think Jennings has proven more than 14 good games. Im not hating on Collison, I think he has a lot of promise and is a lot higher ceiling than a lot people thought.

fastdanParticipantHis numbers are partially a product of the system, and the players on the floor…but that doesn’t take away from the fact he’s a starting quality pg…With so many holes in the NO roster (bench, sf) they’d be stupid to keep collison just to play 12 minutes a game and be CP3 insurance. He’s not a great shooter, and both guys are only 6 foot, so I’m not really sure if he could play much time with Paul…

quinceyhodgesjust about every players numbers is a product of whatever system they are in and the player son ther floor.

llperezsince joewolf mentioned lawson, i looked up lawson’s stats as well when he get’s 25 minutes. He has gotten 25 or more minutes 14 times just like collison and his numbers are:
30min…16.5pts…4.6asst…2.8reb…58%fg
so it’s really close between them

fastdanParticipant…I mean that new orleans runs a system and has players that make the pg’s assists stats look good.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/10/2010 - 5:13pm #254847

llperezfastdan, you could look at that two ways though. Yes the offense requires a pg who can probe the defense and hit the other guys and get assists and that pads their assists. But they don’t have hardly anyone who can create theri own shot. That makes it very difficult for paul/collison to get easy assists when guys can get their own and it just so happens the pg passed it to them. Also, its more pressure on the pg to break defenses down consistently, not too many pg’s would do well with that amount of pressure and responsibility.

quinceyhodgesa system that makes pg assist look good?…i dont agree. the pg get assist on that team because they are good at setting people up to score. i dont think ive ever heard someone say a pg gets the assist they get because of the system… where in the worl you get that from?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/10/2010 - 5:42pm #254867

llpereztonight, collison had 25 pts, 9 assists, 4 steals and 4 rebounds. He made every big play down the stretch and scored 13 of the final 17 points for new orleans without missing a shot. He took over and did it aginast rajon rondo.

quinceyhodgeshe played pretyy well..dont forget the 10 turnovers as well though
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/10/2010 - 5:49pm #254875

llperezyeah, he had some bad ones. through it off a couple guys feet. But give him some more credit then “pretty well” He was the best player on the court and took over when it counted and led his team to victory. but man, KG did not look good out there. Missed lay ups and got beat defensivley a few times in the 4th.

quinceyhodgesi give him alot of credit for the way he played against rondo. i just dont want the same people who came on saying “trade cp3) to come back on tryna use this as ammo

sheltwon3ParticipantCollison after his sophmore year could have been high lottery but he may have stayed too long for draft status but he definitely learned a lot before coming to the NBA. Dude is solid.
