mouchy18ParticipantI think the gap is closing between these guys. They produce the exact same numbers. By the time of the draft i see Robinson’s stock rising and Wesley’s falling to the point they will both be in consideration to be picked 9-13. They are similiar in stature, both can put the ball on the floor but can’t create on the own. Robinson is a better finisher, younger, and has proved he can be an effective man defender…Wes is a better jump shooter and creative enough off the post…If i had a choice i would let a team jump on Wes early and wait on Robinson. In the end i see both there ceiling being Tayshuan Prince esk …Thoughts?

Russell0WestbrookParticipantI would take robinson he is a bigger 3 man with better defense. I know a lot of people are high on wes but he is older than robinson and robison seems to keep improving and even knocking down 3’s this year. I dont think either will be a star wes is just a very hot name right now. I know you could get value for wes and still get a player just as good in robinson later

JNixonParticipantJohnson is better at shooting, passing, and is actually a better rebounder contrary to popular belief. The only thing I think Robinson is better at is defense. I’d take Johnson over Robinson honestly, and I wouldn’t think twice.

quinceyhodgesim not sure where you get youre stock watch info from but scouts dont view them as close as you do. and johnson is putting up those numbers while leading his team to a top 3 ranking while uconn has dropped out of the rankings. johnson is much better skill wise.

Champzilla21ParticipantI was just gunna start this thread, Robinson is smothering Wes right now wolding him to 5 pts on 2-7 shooting with 3 turnovers, while Robinson has 14 pts with some electrifying dunks and a 3 pter. I was personally never that high on johnson. When people compare him and turner, turner in a land slide. You can tell from watching this game that he cant create a shot for himself at all when someone like robinson is guarding him. I personally like Stan better later in the round then johnson at the top. When you draft in top 3 you want a player who can come in instantly and contribute but i dont think Wes will be able to do that. But if robinson is drafted late lottery or even later he will bring excellent value becuz he has great size out of this world athleticism and has gotten better every year in college.

Russell0WestbrookParticipantHe’s not a better rebounder he just gets more boards because he bigmen arent great rebounders. And Robinson is a better finisher and defender. It isnt like wes has great handles or anything the guy is a good player but will never be a star
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/10/2010 - 3:12pm #254765

Russell0WestbrookParticipanthe is only a better shooter off the dribble because they shoot the same % from 3 and fgs

quinceyhodgesooooooh so thats why peopel are comparing the 2 because of this game. come on ya’ll, some of ya’ll need to stop just living in what is going on right this moment. although robinson is playing good d so far the cuse do play zone so you cant compare the defense. as far as turner and johnson would it make more sense for turner to put up better stats since his team isnt as good and he handles the ball alot more? im not saying i think hes better then turner or vice versa but you have to take everything into account such as how well a player is leading there team and if there offense is set for the player to score alot

JNixonParticipantRobinson is scoring his points in transition, not by outplaying Johnson head-to-head. Syracuse’s zone isn’t going to give you a good idea of how Johnson looks on D. He has done a good job on D, but that’s the only area I’m willing to say he’s better at right now.

Champzilla21ParticipantOk if u put the ball in to johnsons hands and told him to play point guard how well do you think that would work out? Put even turner on the cuse and johnson on Ohio i can gaurantee u Ohio would be lost and the cuse would be even better. I just think that in order top be a top pick you have to be able to take your man off the dribble or create a shot for u or a teammate and i dont think he does that well or wont ever be as good as turner in that category

Russell0WestbrookParticipantThere numbers are the same basically and neither will be a star. I dont see why everybodys so high on wes the guy is a year older and robinson has the higher upside while not being known for offense the guy gets the same amount of points as the guy people say will be a 20 point scorer in the league why doesnt robinson get the same love because wes team is better? This is his fist year being on a winner in college robinson has been winning his whole carrer and has alway been an x-factor

mouchy18ParticipantSee Quincy thats where i disagree with you, I don’t think Wes is leading that team to the #3 rank..he is the teams leading scorer but i believe they win based on a balanced attack..he only shoots 12 shots a game..he is no Melo. Its not about the moment either, Stanely has been on the radar because he has game changing athleticism like a Josh Smith…Nither i believe is a future All-star but a sure 1st rounder which make comparisons fair

quinceyhodgesfirts of all these are guess… you dont know how well they would be on each team. 2 wesley isnt a realgood ball handler so why would he be put at the point? youre intitled o youre opinion on what you should be able to do to be a high pick but the good thing is nba teams dont think that way which is why johnson will be a high pick. he can handle the ball enough to get his points. his ghandles is no worst then shaun marion when he was at unlv
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/10/2010 - 3:29pm #254776
quinceyhodgesyeah they have a balanced team but he is the leader on that team. id ont knowt oo many guys who are allamericans yet not a the main reason the team is good. and im pretty sure robinson wont get drafted higher then johnson. although both will be drafted. and i think johnson will have tyhe better career. alos johnson is a very very good athlete. its also alot easier to put up good numbers when youre team isnt that goodf
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/10/2010 - 3:32pm #254777

Russell0WestbrookParticipantAnother fact robinson has scored in double figures every game where johnson has been in singe digit 3 games and maybe 4 due to stanley totally shutting him down
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/10/2010 - 3:32pm #254778
mouchy18Participanti guarantee Wes won’t be a top 5 pick…Don’t be fooled by nbadraft.net….Scouts aren’t dumb and if the casual fan can see Wes isn’t a gamebreaker then they know already…He will be late lotto to mid first and that suits his talent. Only Big men who are projected average would be taken that high
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/10/2010 - 3:40pm #254780
quinceyhodgesbayless have you watch cuse?..johnson doesnt need to score double figures every game for them to win. that was a bvad arguement. wall hasnt scored in double figures every game would you take robinson over him as well?…or over cousins who also hasnt scored in double figures every game?..youre star doesnt have to when you have a good team that blows people out. i dont go by nbdrat.net igo by what i think and by my brothers old coach who used to be a nba scout. you dont have to be a game breaker to be a top 5 pick. most top 5 picks arent even game breakers. on average maybe one( out of all the top picks in every draft) becomes a game breaker
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/10/2010 - 3:41pm #254781

Russell0WestbrookParticipantno im saying this guy is suppose to be a deadly scorer some people are even sayiny 20 points a game in the league. Why is he struggling so bad tonight?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/10/2010 - 3:44pm #254784

JNixonParticipantHe can’t have a bad game?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/10/2010 - 3:45pm #254786
quinceyhodgesso if you struggle some games then theres no way you can be a 20 ppg scorer in the nba?..im not saying he will be but thats not a valid arguement. plent of former college players had games where they struggle. then you take in account that his team is very good. he doesnt have to score. it would be different if hewas on a bad team and having a buunch of low scoring games because his team would need for him to score alot in order to win. the cuse dont need him to score alot for them to win. hell they blow out teams even when he doesnt score much
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/10/2010 - 3:47pm #254788

Russell0WestbrookParticipantHe struggling agaisnt a nba caliber defender! He’s not having a bad game because he cant hit open shots he cant get good shots because of the d!
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/10/2010 - 3:49pm #254789
mouchy18ParticipantQ do your Homework just look at the last five yrs…Every top 5 pick from college was a colliegiate game breaker..we are not talking about what they will become b/c there is only one or 2 game breaker in each class. The only exceptions may be marvin williams and Ty Thomas….they were X-factors & Big Men!
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/10/2010 - 3:56pm #254792
Turral2ParticipantAs i recall i told you guys wes johnson cant not create for him self… he’s got a long way too go… you have too be able to create in the nba…
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/10/2010 - 4:08pm #254796
quinceyhodgesso what do you consider a game breaker?…i look at unc and i see guys whoput up the same or worst numbers then johnson. i look at memphis and see the same thing. i look at kansas and see the same. im not understanding what you consider a game breaker?….as far as johnson having a bad game because robinson is playing d on him..what exactly does that mean?..see i told you this was based on one game. why not make a post about the times robinson didnt play good defense or when someone played good d on him and he only scored 10 points?..this is why i ssay youre arguement isnt valid. name the game breakers you speak of and put up there numbers and how high there team were ranked
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/10/2010 - 4:41pm #254820

Soulrebel15ParticipantAre people looking at Syracuse games? It sounds like many people are basing their arguments off this game. Johnson does not have to put up monster numbers for Syracuse to win, and that not a knock on him. Like someone said before they are a very balance scoring team inside and on the perimeter. He lets the game come to him almost to a fault. I personally like both players however, to me Johnson has the better skill set, he’s just not aggressive enough.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/10/2010 - 4:47pm #254824
quinceyhodgesjohnson finished with 13 and 9. shooting 4-12 and the win..robinson finished with 16(i think most if not all in the first half) with 7 reb shooting 5-14. and yeah soul some were just looking at this game. actually they were just looking at the first half
