Dale WorthingtonParticipantHaven’t been following College Hoopz too closely this season.
I blame it on homework and this garbage university TV system.
I will be sure to start watching more games and poppin’ on some S-Center.
Anyway, here is my top 15.
1) Kentucky 22-1
2) Syracuse 22-1

JNixonParticipantKansas State and Wisconsin are better than Ohio State. You probably could switch Villanova and Purdue, as well as Georgetown and Michigan State

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantKansas has to be #1. They have one loss to a top 15 team on the road, and I don’t think there is a better or deeper team. They easily have the talent to match up with Kentucky, and have the upperclassmen present with the experience necessary to handle the heat in the gym when the pressure rises.
Texas hasn’t played well lately. If they don’t beat Kansas tomorrow, they might end up a #2 or #3 seed because there are enough tough road games on their schedule to give them a few more losses.
Villanova’s loss yesterday doesn’t faze me. The Big East is structured for home teams to win, and I think it is likely that they will fall to West Virginia tomorrow. I still love their chances come March.
Georgetown worries me if they draw a team that plays a really good zone defense. Otherwise, I like them at a neutral site.
Ohio State is 14-3 with Evan Turner. I think if they have a strong finish, the tournament committee will take the fact that they were 3-3 with Turner was injured into account.
East Regional, Carrier Dome, Syracuse, New York -Syracuse isn’t eligible to play there as they are the host team:
1. West Virginia- Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena, Jacksonville, Florida (site for first wkend)
2. Michigan State- Bradley Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
3. Georgetown- New Orleans Arena, New Orleans, Louisiana
4. BYU- Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena, Spokane, Washington
West Regional, EnergySolutions Arena, Salt Lake City, Utah:
1. Syracuse -HSBC Arena, Buffalo, New York
2. Texas- Ford Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
3. Wake Forest- New Orleans Arena, New Orleans, Louisiana
4. Gonzaga- HP Pavilion, San José, California
Midwest Regional, Edward Jones Dome, St. Louis, Missouri
1. Kansas- Ford Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
2. Duke- Dunkin’ Donuts Center, Providence, Rhode Island
3. Purdue- California- Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena, Spokane, Washington
4. California- HP Pavilion, San José, California
South Regional, Reliant Stadium, Houston, Texas
1. Kentucky – Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena, Jacksonville, Florida
2. Villanova- Dunkin’ Donuts Center, Providence, Rhode Island
3. Ohio State- Bradley Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
4. Kansas State- Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena, Spokane, Washington0 - Posted on: Sun, 02/07/2010 - 8:46am #253689
Prospect21ParticipantWest Virginia a #1 seed? WTF?

JoeWolf1I think you are giving Baylor a little too much love, they are a type of team who if they get hot can beat just about anyone, but to be a top 15 team in the NCAA I think you need to be more consistant than they have shown. They lost to Colorado in conference play, which I understand is more difficult to play in, but they lost again to Texas A@M last night ( who is probably a tournament team) but like I stated earlier you’ve gotta be a little more consistant to be top 15, I’d still give them top 25 although they will probably drop out tomorrow.

Dale WorthingtonParticipantJoeWolf, choosing a team for #15 ranking was tough.
Baylor, Texas A&M, New Mexico, and Vanderbilt were all of my radar.
I ultimately went with Baylor, because I love their triumvirate of Dunn, Tweet, and Udoh reppin’ the wing, point, and post, respectively.
Their resume could be a bit stronger; wins at Texas, vs. Xavier, vs. Oklahoma, and vs. Oklahoma State are a nice start, though.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantThe power rankings that the committee gives big weight to love West Virginia, they have as favorable a schedule as the Big East could possibly give, and as I wrote earlier I think they beat Villanova tomorrow night (incredibly difficult turnaround for Nova going from Georgetown on Saturday to WV on Monday, especially given the weather is going to make traveling quite troublesome) in the ESPN game which will get them more love from the AP and coaches.

gatorheelsParticipantNCAA darkhorses: Yo Dale you forgot about 3 of the best mid-major teams that can make noise in the NCAA tourney- Northern Iowa, Siena, & Butler.
Ohio St. would beat Kansas St. & Wisconsin on a neutral court..I think.
I agree with JoeWolf about Baylor. I definitely wouldn’t rank them in the top 15. I would probably have them ranked in the 27-32 range personally.
Kentucky is going to have the most fans regardless of where they play in the NCAA tournament.
Georgetown is a team I just can’t figure out.

Dale WorthingtonParticipantNorthern Iowa and Siena, despite having great records, haven’t really beaten anyone legit.
I left off Butler, because everyone knows about them, and they could end up with a 5 seed.
Georgetown has some very, very strong wins on their resume; they’re one blemish was against USF in the District.
Their other losses, in my mind, are acceptable, as they were @ ‘Cuse, @ Vanillanova, @ Marquette, and home vs. a solid ODU squad.

gatorheelsParticipantDale- Northern Iowa & Siena are so much better than Wiliam&Mary that it isn’t even funny.

Dale WorthingtonParticipantJudging by record, sure, UNI and Siena are easily better than W&M.
Don’t sleep on William & Mary, though.
Wins over Richmond, @ Wake Forest, and @ Wake.
Very, very impressive.
Elite academics, to boot.

JNixonParticipantNorthern Iowa is the best low-major team out there. I’ve seen them play twice including yesterday on ESPN2 and they have a HUGE big man who’s name I don’t remember and they play air-tight D. They also have good shooters. I like their team and think they can make a Sweet 16 run

gatorheelsParticipant^ Ha yeah I’ve watched Northern Iowa some too. That big dudes name is Eglseder…he is 7-1 290 pounds. Koch is their best player, 6-8 245. Northern Iowa has a lot of size for a mid-major. They are very good. I agree they can make it to the sweet 16.

Dale WorthingtonParticipantWatch out for Samhan and Allen down low for Saint Mary’s.
Both guys are 6’11 and tear down teh boardz.
Saint Mary’s is 3rd in the nation in assists/turnover ratio.
Saint Mary’s @ Gonzaga this Thursday is gonna be a riot.
