Wondering what other people think on this topic. For me its a clear no brainer not a chance Barnes gets even mentioned in any deal for KD. But would you guys include Scottie Barnes in a deal for KD?

If you were desperate for a title maybe but not at moment. If it was KD a few years younger yes but not now. I personally think the Knicks will try to swing something crazy of Lakers maybe try to be creative.

A lot depends how high we rate Barnes could he be the next Luka or Giannis or just a good potential All Star. I hear a lot of great things about him, similar to Luka from day one amd what people were saying about Giannis after his first season.

I can see my Suns giving up too much for him too as we chase the elusive title.

Well its no secret Toronto has the best player development in the league. Not even arguable at this point. Part of it is they pick the players that are going to put in the work but I mean Powell 2nd round averages 20ppg, Van Vleet undrafted allstar, Boucher undrafted on his third contract, Siakam all NBA late 1st, OG one of the best two way players in the league late 1st, Just imagine what these guys can do with a blue chip prospect like Scottie Barnes.

I honestly believe he could develop into a top 10 player in the league (thats me being reserved) but even if he doesn’t it really don’t matter. His skillset is so unique being able to play any of the 5 positions equally that even if he stopped developing today and just gets older, more experienced and stronger its not a player you trade away.

People are sleeping on Scottie even after winning rookie of the year. I heard Richard Jefferson say “he’s not even the best rookie, Mobley is” about him. Its ridiculous.

If you think Durant puts you over top and you can win another title Ala Kawhi you have to do it especially because he is signed for 4 more years. If you don’t think Durant outs you in title Contention you keep Barnes.

Let’s say without looking at picks involved it takes Barnes, Trent, and one of Siakam/Anonuby I don’t think that leaves Raptors with enough to win a title with Durant so I would pass.

No, I think Siakam, Anunoby and 2 picks and 2 swaps is just enough for a 34 year old player.

Any KD trade I’d not want to send picks post 2026 when his deal expires.

If Durant would be happy to go there, then the answer is easily yes. If Toronto could manage to keep FVV and Siakam, and I think because they just signed Boucher, Young, and Porter cannot be included, they become the probable favorite in the East. They will obviously fill out the roster, but they have some guys deep on their roster with potential. I want to see if Banton takes a step forward with his shot this offseason. He showed real promise when he got more than garbage time minutes. Armoni Brooks showed he can be capable of offering rotation minutes when given the chance over the past couple years. Malachi Flynn didn’t have the best year, but had a few good games when filling in for FVV. My guess is that Toronto could hold the line on the deal being Barnes, OG, and Trent. It is possible that Brooklyn re-routes guys. Barnes and Simmons are not natural complements, though in my view I would take Barnes every day of the week over Simmons.
