BothTeamsPlayedHard-ParticipantHe wasn’t going to let Kyrie burn down Brooklyn and leave him holding the bag. Yes, that is an insulting way to refer to Ben Simmons, but he has earned it.

armchairgmParticipantBout to be wild with all the movement this shift will occur. His two teams are the Suns and Heat that he wants to go to. Kyrie end up on Lakers now? Nets said they are going full rebuild everyone can be had on their roster for right price.

OhCanada-ParticipantI guess they go full rebuild mode to try and snag Henderson, Victor W. or whoever else emerges as a top prospect in this very talented draft. Although if they made a deal centered around Bridges and Ayton to be honest they could end up with a better team then they had last season. I think both those players are being held back currently in the Suns system just dedicating themselves to their role. Make that deal, get something back for Kyrie if you can and maybe even make a play for Brunson or Bridges and you might have .500 plus team.

HitsterParticipantIf Kyrie fancied the Lakers might KD want to go there too instead of him?
Was it Kyrie not resigning long term that did KD in. The Nets can play hardball with him as he has 4 years left. The big winners could be Houston as they are due a number of the Nets picks.
Phoenix could do S and T involving Ayton to get KD but would Ayton want to go to Brooklyn or they do an S and T to get assets to to send to Brooklyn for KD?
The issue is then the roster depth would be thin and Suns needing a defensive anchor.
Miami would want to keep Butler and Bam. Lowry would be of no interest to the Nets either.
Plus why should Nets send KD to the team he wants if he has asked for a trade. They go for whoever gives them best return?
The Knicks may be watching very closely too as they have picks stashed.

zolaParticipantSuns, Raptors, Hawks, Blazers, Wizards and Knicks can make the best offers for Durant. Nets owe picks to Rockets for next four years (two swaps) so trade primarly based on picks is not an option. They need established players in return.
Trade I would like to see is Siakam and Anunoby and 2 picks for KD. I’m not sure Ujiri would deal Barnes, even for KD.
Heat can offer Herro and Lowry and picks, but that’s ok for Irving, not close for KD. I can’t see how Lakers can make a deal for Irving if they don’t include Davis.

OhCanada-ParticipantToronto wontt trade for KD. Theres some salt still there from when he injured himself in the finals. And no we wouldn’t trade Barnes for him. Probably wouldn’t trade Siakam for him either tbh. Its not like trade Derozan for Kawhi. KD is 33,

zolaParticipantYou probably right. Just if they decided they want KD, they could make one of the best offers and still have good team around him.
As a Grizzlies fan, I also wouldn’t trade Jaren Jackson for KD.0

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantIf you are Phoenix do you trade booker for KD? That’s probably what it will take. Booker is younger and less of an injury risk for sure. But Durant would put them in a position to possibly win a title right now.

armchairgmParticipantDurant wants to play with Booker so he wouldn’t go to Phoenix if they traded Booker

HitsterParticipantAs a Suns fan no way we give up a 25 year old for a near 34 year old with KD’s mileage. Would the Nets take KD for LBJ as it’s a bigger age gap between the first two.
KD cannot dictate where he goes the Nets can send him to whoever gives them the best offer. They wouldn’t extend Kyrie and if KD won’t play a year with Kyrie at least regardless of if Ben Simmons is getting it on with Maya Jama then I think where he lands he lands and has to get on with it.
It may sound crazy but KD to Houston or Thunder who have all those picks and young prospects. It potentially gives him a bigger window there too. LBJ went home and won a title could KD do the same with Thunder and help fellow skinny number 2 pick Chet develop.

canadabasketballisrisingParticipantnet’s don’t want picks- they owe their own unprotected picks to the rockets for the next few years. They need to remain competitive. Any young all star and a 1-2 good role players is what they need.

OhCanada-ParticipantOh wow. I honestly thought those were partially protected/top 3 or 5 like all the picks OKC collected but yeah those picks are completely unprotected. Houston could be big winners this offseason. Theres actually a chance Brooklyn ends up better by trading KD that team was just such a mess. At least now Nash can actually coach if that relationship stays intact.

HitsterParticipantBrooklyn could create cap space with expiring deals and if they get picks for KD they will have something to draft around. With cap space they can add FAs and are a bigger market team.
With all these picks flying about Houston, Thunder and Utah will own most of the draft.

OhCanada-ParticipantLooks like Raptors are making a push to get Durant and replicate the Kawhi Leonard move. WOJ is on it and the dudes rarely wrong. I mean KD has mentioned he was pissed off when they cheered as he reinjured himself in the Finals so I doubt he would resign. But it worked once so why not try again. If it doesn’t work out they rebuild with Barnes I guess would be the thought process.

armchairgmParticipantI heard Barnes was the centerpiece of any Raptors deal

HitsterParticipantWith the talk about Nets having this fire sale where does Ben Simmons fit into all of ths. He is still only 25 but with all the issues in Philly and then getting moved to Nets is there any timeline when he might play. Do they look to rebuild around him?
With KD being so adamant he wants out, I do wonder if Ben is anywhere near playing, a younger player of his ability would have been perfect running mate for KD.
With all the issues surrounding Ben the Nets wouldn’r get a great return but they took him in a trade where they didn’t give up a lot to get him. If they hit rebuild does he play do they sit him? I’d figure he’d need to play to build up his trade value again?
Harden went to Nets left, Kyrie wouldn’t or they won’t sign him long term, KD wants out, Simmons hasn’t played. Who is really to blame?
