seecocoaballParticipant• Rumblings about Ray Allen being on his way out of Boston are accurate, but only if the Celtics can get back a player who’d crack the top eight in their rotation. One scenario that has been discussed would have Allen going to Chicago for Kirk Hinrich and another piece – John Salmons? – to satisfy the salary requirements. If it came to fruition, what an intriguing swap it would be for teams that waged such a thrilling postseason battle only eight months ago. Since Allen’s $19.7 million contract expires after the season, acquiring him would leave Chicago flush with cap space for a 2010 free-agent binge centered around Chicago native Dwyane Wade and an additional superstar.

the I in winParticipantThe Celtics are struggling but i don’t think they break up the big 3 just yet. They are just now getting healthy.

RickyRubio9ParticipantHmm, they want to add another shooter?
This seems like a Good Move on the Bulls part although I’d hate to see Hinrich leave and didn’t him and Rondo have beef last year??
Ray Allen could be like the Ben Gordon from last year, but they do lose two of their rotation players for one…0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/03/2010 - 12:57pm #252951

esperanzafleet69ParticipantAinge Laughs Off Allen Rumors
Feb 02, 2010 4:33 PM EST
Celtics general manager Danny Ainge is laughing off rumors that the team is looking to trade guard Ray Allen.
“Let me just put it this way: We’re doing everything we can to win a championship now,” Ainge said. “We’re not going to do anything that might hurt our chances of winning.
“There’s no question we need to play better, but we’re not going to panic.”
The Celtics are checking out ways to improve prior to the Feb. 18 trade deadline, but a major move appears unlikely.
“I’m pretty sure they’re going to be looking at a lot of things in the summer,” an opposing GM said, “but for now Danny doesn’t want to do anything that doesn’t make them better right away.”

B-ball fanParticipantOf course Ainge is going to say that. He isn’t going to say “Yeah, we want to trade Ray” during a season.
I think the Celtics have very slim hopes of winning a championship this year, so trading Allen to free up cap space while getting some talent in return could be a good thing, especially if there is a hard cap in 2 years. I don’t know if this trade is the best, I am not a big fan of Salmons or Hinrich. Salmons doesn’t really have great shot selection, and Hinrich isn’t a strong playmaker. But Salmons is a good shooter, and Hinrich does bring defense and some shooting.0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/03/2010 - 3:13pm #252991

Russell0WestbrookParticipantRay isnt worth 2 rotation player anymore. Im surprised people arent saying trade him to the knicks! First its Monte now its Kirk and Salmons they are stuck with Ray nobody is going to help a team that they can meet in the playoffs and Boston wont trade him to a loser

thaprodigyParticipantI heard Ray Allen and 2 1st Rd. Picks for Andre Iguodala and Louis Williams or Kapono from celticsblog.com but I think its just a thought and not a trade that’s actually been discussed.
