I’m actually not against this. Earlier in the year I would’ve said this is crazy but I think the problem for me was the Ja Morant comparison. Ivey is not Ja, but thats fine. He’s his own unique player. Kinda has the quickness of Ja with the physical features of Dwayne Wade. My biggest question with him was can he add some pull up game to his skillset and he defenitely proved he has it against Texas with a very cool and calm dagger.
Overall its a pretty decent mock. What are some things you guys agree with and things you disagree with in the mock?

OhCanada-ParticipantSome thoughts.
I just really like this mock. I have alot of things similar on my current mock.
-I think people are expecting AJ Griffin to be this years Pat Williams or Scottie Barnes and have already put him in that 4-10 range. Problem is he really hasn’t played consistent enough to warrant the selection and has very serious injury concerns so he has to first pass the medicals. I have Keegan Murray ahead of Griffin and I still think Griffin is a late lottery mid 1st guy right now.
-Don’t seen the Twolves drafting a project (Jovic). I think they continue to look for glue guys to fit in with their core. EJ Lidell would be perfect there if he’s available.
– I think Hardy is too high.
_ Love where Kendall Brown is. He probably gets picked higher though.
-I like Duren at 13. He didn’t show very good offensive feel or instinct.
-Trayce Jackson Davis at 26 is good. Same kind of pick they made with Clarke. I think OKC would pick him at 30 as well.

NorrinRaddParticipantI would switch out Beauchamp and Agbaji out for Kendall Brown. Sharpe will probably go higher than Johnny Davis. Idk, I can see a few things though… I think it’s more of a Holmgren vs Smith for 1, but maybe Ivey dominates in a matchup against Gonzaga hypothetically though and Purdue advances, we have some #1 talk. I want to see that first.
I like the boldness, it’s not like a lot of other drafts out there. Brockington is a good back of the draft fringe player to keep an eye on in the tournament. I like maybe where Molinar is??? I mean I always take these mocks with a grain of salt. Actually a good site for getting an algorithm of where prospects are is Rookie Scale. It doesn’t factor in future predictions, just where sites currently have players ranked on a consensus based level. Got that one from Mikey V… Where has he been? You out there?
Anyways, the prospects that still leaves my head scratching is for 1 PB&J. He has the “tools” but brings no intangibles to the table. Kendall Brown on the other hand for example needs some polishing, but at least you can work with his intangibles. Sochan the same. I don’t know how to rank PB&J, wish I can take him out. If Oussmane Dieng declares, he’s a polarizing prospect where to take him. Tools, maybe can turn things around after a suspect start? But he would get picked for sure if he declares. Not sure about his stock. Daimion Collins for lack of playing time, and Yannick for his inconsistent play. Not all of those prospects are in the mock, but it’s a crapshoot of who declares out of them.
I love the Jalen Williams place of the mock. He’s been climbing up mocks. I think the whole world is sleeping on Kamagate… He’s in everyone’s mock – sure – but dude is legit. There was one question about this kid’s game… his jumper… now he has worked on that a ton and has a 20 foot jumper to even the 3 point line out. He didn’t show that in league play, but has really worked on his shot and it shows. Factor in he can block shots and dominated Wemby head to head, I think he’s being slept on at least a level across the board… but that’s just projecting future a little too. I think he’ll turn some heads eventually. He’s just forgotten about for now.

HitsterParticipantWith 3 bigs following behind Ivey then there is bound to be a team at the top of the draft looking for a backcourter. Houston, Detroit and Orlando all took backcourters with their highest pick last year but could easily look to partner Jaden up with the guy they drafted last year. Getting your backcourt sorted is a big piece in any rebuild.
Jaden also has good size so could potentially guard the 3 on defence and with teams using 3 guard line ups he has yet more options.
Interesting to see Chet down to 4 on the mock. I still think he’ll go top 3 personally and if he did begin to fall there could be a big trade up fight to try and get him.
Ochai Agbaji as a senior at 10 is interesting as he isn’t yet 22 and could be seen as very NBA ready. He may be a bit high but a team looking to compete now would certainly have a very good look at him.
I don’t look at definitive team fits like Jovic as these mocks are BPA based and the teams are in their relevant places on the current draft board.

NorrinRaddParticipantHas anyone looked at the big board on this site? Leonard Miller is a name that’s new to me. He’s #76 on the big board, saw some highlights. Looks long and I see some upside… Any Canadians want to fill us in more??? Not sure he enters or plays somewhere else a year. How would this guy stack up in this class? Is he even draftable yet?
1+- Posted on: Wed, 03/23/2022 - 8:38am #1254673

OhCanada-ParticipantHes part of the 2022 class as far as I know. One of those guys that hit a growth spur and popped up out of nowhere. I really don’t know much about him. Fort Erie where he’s from is a small Canadian town which boarders Buffalo.
Another guy to look out for is Elijah Fisher who is part of the 2023 class but may reclassify and could even be part of next years G League Ignite team if he decides to go that route. He’s a 6’7 Canadian prospect who decided to stay in Canada for highschool at a very ritsy school in a very ritsy area of Toronto. He’s been developed thoroughly to be the next Barrett or Wiggins kind of star for the Canadian program since he was 12 or 13 but since he hasn’t been a big part of the American circuits you won’t hear much about him until last second.
Thats how it works. You gotta play in their tournaments for all the big brands before you get any type of notoriety and if you don’t play along they drag your stock and make it hard to market yourself. I can promise he will be extremely confident when he plays at the next level whether that is college or G League.

NorrinRaddParticipantYeah Elijah Fisher is going to be nasty – been watching some videos on him now that you posted that…

TRC1991ParticipantI do not see Ivey as #1. I really don’t think he’s a better long-term player than Smith or Banchero.
1+ - Posted on: Thu, 03/31/2022 - 4:50am #1254797

stepback3ParticipantI could see him going 2-4 but I think No.1 is unlikely.

HitsterParticipantI prefer the big board range at this stage as NCAA season is almost over so most players have completed their season. Banchero may have a monster finals weekend to boost his standing. But near the top of the draft all will depend on workouts, interviews and the lottery balls. I happily speculate who would be best fit where but never do a full mock until we know who is picking where.
I think all top 4 in the site’s mock have been number 1 and major mock boards so there is no standout number 1 and how many times have when we think we know who the top 4 or 5 will be but not maybe the exact order someone gatecrashes that list on draft night.
2+- Posted on: Fri, 04/01/2022 - 9:59am #1254811

OhCanada-ParticipantI agree. With Banchero, Holmgren, Ivey and Smith this is probably the most fluid top 4 in years and realistically you could even make a case for someone else to be in that list as well. Would anybody be shocked if Davis or Duren ended up a better player than say Ivey or Holmgren?
So who knows maybe they are also in consideration for 1st overall. If the Kings select first and Mathurin absolutely blows them away barely misses shots in workouts and says all the right things why not pick him 1st? You can risk trading down but who’s gonna trade with you when theres so many good options?
This is a very interesting draft and I’m sure we will get alot of players drafted way outside of their big board or mock range.
There seems to be a stigma on super productive college players that it wont translate to the next level. Like Trae Young for instance. If Davis produces like he did in college he’s an allstar and nothing suggests he wont.
1+- Posted on: Fri, 04/01/2022 - 11:19pm #1254822

NorrinRaddParticipanttbh I’m not as high as I was earlier on Johnny Davis. I’d be a little surprised if he made the top 7. The thing is there’s a few factors that leave me draft questions. Factor 1 would be the what have you done for me lately factor… It seemed like Davis ran out of gas at the end by shooting dismal in his last 3 games. (15-55 shooting.) Factor 2 is that his 3 ball isn’t consistent. It never has been. I feel like he has a bit of Markelle Fultz in him perhaps. He can do it all but shoot the consistent 3 ball yet he can post other guys in the paint, rebound, etc. But he can’t stretch the defense and in the NBA I’m not sure he will own the paint like he does in the NCAA. If he improves his shooting range, he could be in the top 7ish, but for now to me he’s fighting to be in the lottery. He could be better than that, but teams will scrutinize because there’s more video on him.
Duren could sneak in maybe I suppose if someone was really impressed with his play and wanted a tough big on their team. Still a semi long shot. He’s young and has that incredible brut strength, and the way he passes is impressive.
