canadabasketballisrisingParticipantWho would win in a 7 game series with current NBA rules? What is the BETTER TEAM not 12 players (chemistry and fit matters look at team USA losing to France twice).
All players are in their best/ prime NBA seasons..
Comment below.4 Zouldiers
Starters: Magic Johnson, Ray Allen, Julius Erving, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Chris Bosh Bench: Russell Westbrook, Pete Maravich, Grant Hill, Carmelo Anthony, Patrick Ewing Deep: Mitch Richmond and Nate Thurmond Coach: Gregg PoppovichExplanation: When I drafted Magic as someone to build around, I want to build around him with athletes and that’s where Dr.J and Giannis comes in. Our goal is to outrun everyone and giving Magic those two guys will allow them to do just that. Of course, Starting Ray Allen and Chris Bosh means that I have shooters around in case Giannis/Dr.J/ Magic gets walled. The main theme for my team is versatility meaning we can play any style, we can go big, go small, play fast or slow or whatever which is why I drafted guys like Maravich and Hill where they’re not exactly primary ball handlers but can handle the rock pretty well. Drafting bigs like Ewing and Thurmond will allow me to slow down the likes of Shaq, Wilt, Kareem and Hakeem if need be. If I need more scoring then I got Richmond and Melo to come in. If I need a wildcard, then I’ll put in Westbrook.
But the thing is, I need a coach that can maximize my lineups and who better to do that than Gregg Poppovich and by giving him a roster that will allow him to adapt to any style, our team can match up to basically anyone on here. Defensively, there’s a reason why I drafted guys over 6’5″ besides Westbrook is because of switches, which is a staple in the modern game so there’s that. Good Luck guys, You’re going to need it.5 Oh Canada
PG. Gary Payton, Allen Iverson, Kyle Lowry SG-Kobe Bryant, Manu Ginobli SF-Clyde Drexler, Andrei Kirilenko PF-Charles Barkley, Danny Granger C-Wilt Chamberlain, Chris Webber, Arvydas SabonisThe theme of my team is defensive versatility and those ‘chip on their shoulder’ players. I needed that extra bit of toughness. Wanted to make sure it had Gary Payton as I think he is the best defensive PG ever and will make it tough for any team. Everybody is a threat from long range aside from Wilt Chamberlain. With my last few picks instead of picking top 50 kind of guys I wanted to find good fits for my team.
AK 47 gives me someone to defend length and athleticism on the perimeter and at the rim. At SG I have three players that are 6’7 that can really defend with Kobe, Manu and Drex. I think Granger is one of the most underrated players and was probably the best two way player in the NBA before running into injuries. He was another one of those guys that could guard all 5 positions, it just didn’t matter.
As for Erik Spoelstra I had to take a modern coach. I was thinking of picking Chuck Daly but the dream team apparently wouldn’t count in this and I really needed to pick someone who’s dealt with modern run and gun/5 man out playstyles and things like Hack a Sq.2+ - Posted on: Sun, 08/01/2021 - 8:35am #1251368

dmo21ParticipantI think I’m going to learn towards Zouldiers here. Wilt is a presence, but he could be slowed down by a rotation of Ewing and Thurmond all game. I think the length and athleticism of the Zouldiers wings and guards would also cause issues for OhCanada. The OhCanada team has some strong personalities that could create issues with team cohesion.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI’m going with zouldiers here too. I think he has the more balanced roster and his team should be a terror in transition with magic running the break and dr j and the freak on the wings. I’m a little concerned with the lack of shooting in the starting lineup, but having Allen and a stretch 5 in bosh should keep the floor spaced enough. Oh Canada’s team is good too for sure, but there are bound to be chemistry issues. Is a prime AI going to settle for a bench role and how will he co-exist with Kobe? Whoever’s coaching this team will have his hands full.

sniperParticipantI will go with OhCanada in a very tight series.
The way I see it, in the battle of the ball-dominant stars, Magic has an edge over Kobe because he makes everyone better. But Wilt would be dominant in this series. Ewing would put a body on him and make him work but I just think Wilt was at another level. And I give a slight edge to OhCanada’s supporting cast.
Yes there are a lot of personalities on OhCanada’s team but even guys like Iverson and Webber I think would have to admit that the guys ahead of them are just better.

NorrinRaddParticipantI’m going with Zouldiers in a barn burner series. I think OhCandada is way solid down low and will give Zouldiers problems. Ultimately this game will be decided by shooting, passing and coaching though. The orchestrator of this game is of course Magic. He can drive and pass between the lanes somehow some way. The Magic man magically gets it done. Ironically both teams don’t consistently stretch the floor and have too much ball dominant players (not very modern)… I had a hard time picking this game. OhCanada’s defense definitely keeps them in the game. But Zouldiers has the Magic touch.

armchairgmParticipant#5 Oh Canada

NorrinRaddParticipantSo far Zouldiers 3 OhCandada 2

armchairgmParticipantNo way Zouldier should win this. A team with Kobe and Wilt is going to beat this team easily when the only Top 10 All Time guy is Magic Johnson.

RUDEBOY-ParticipantU can possibly might a case for Dr. J being a Top 10 All Time player. If u base it on his Impact on changing the game. And Marquee value to both the Nba and ABA!

NorrinRaddParticipantNot sure I would, but I can see how one could… I know this though, Worthy was a nice target for Magic. Dr. J would be wwwwwaaaaayyyyy incredible!

2quick4uParticipantThis one is pretty easy.. the key here is “current rules”. No NBA superstar is above the rules but actually rules are what determines which Star is going to dominate that particular Era or moment in history.
So if the game is played with “current rules” Oh Canada’s team has absolutely nothing to do with a team featuring players like Chamberlain, Sabonis, Iverson or even Kobe.
Chamberlain already proved he could not win in an Era playing fast pace like the 60’s or early 70’s even though he put crazy numbers and it was Russell the one that was better suited to play under those conditions.. Today it would happen the same but it would be even worst as defensively he would be moved out of the zone just like it happend to Gobert in Playoffs.. Same for Sabonis. Then you have in the backcourt inneficient scorers like Iverson and Kobe that play to much ISO ball and can’t shoot from 3 with efficiency just like Barkley, plus Payton, Drexler and Webber can’t shoot from 3 neither… so the only player who can actually shoot are Lowry and Granger..
Zouldiers team all that has to do is put Giannis at 5 and having Magic at the point running the show with a high pace or playing P%R with Giannis and with R.Allen&Ritchmond shooting alone when a wall is built to stop Giannis the game is over…1+ - Posted on: Mon, 08/02/2021 - 10:55am #1251413

NorrinRaddParticipantSo far Zouldiers 4 OhCanada 2… going to 7???
1+ - Posted on: Mon, 08/02/2021 - 11:11am #1251415

armchairgmParticipantThink it was best of 7 so 4 is the winner. Haha the incorrect winner.

canadabasketballisrisingParticipantit was first to 7. There hasn;t been a comment in a while so we’ll go best of 7.. Zouldiers advances.. next post coming up, best of 7’s.

HitsterParticipantThis is a hard one Oh Canada has some of the greatest ever NBA scorers and the stronger C but players like Manu, AK47 and Granger wouldn’t have been anywhere near my draft lists. Zouldiers has the better coach and greater depth at 3 and 4 plus the greatest PG ever in Magic but Oh Canada can put the glove Peyton on him. But Magic feeding Ray Allen and factoring in the Freak and Hill able to carry the ball too. Despite AI as the greatest 6th man ever I think Zouldiers has more bench scoring.
But with it being played under current NBA rules has meant I have to lean towards Zoldiers as Wilt wouldn’t be quite as dominant as he was in his era. So Zoldiers to win in 7.

OhCanada-ParticipantProps to Zouldiers to building such a tough team. Giannis should be in conversation for best player in the league right now. I’d take Giannis over Durant in a heatbeat in 2021 but theres only one ball and what happens when its in Magics hands all games. Whats Giannis doing? They are gonna be tough in transition and plenty of shooters too so I can’t really disagree with anyones choice to pick Zouldiers. But I’m gonna respond to some of the individual criticism on my team. Wasn’t gonna say anything until after everyone decided for themselves but..I disagree with alot of the concerns here.
Kirelinko isn’t just some player that can’t hang with the alltime legends. He was the ultimate glue guy. Averaged 3.5 assists, 1.7 steals and 3 blocks over three seasons in his prime. Not everyone can take 20 shots, some people in these rotations have to serve a different role.
Payton’s the only guy who’s gonna bother guys like Magic or Jordan. He’s the best defensive guard of alltime and nobody has an argument for it.
Iverson doesn’t have character issues, he’s one of the most competitive players in the history of the NBA. In todays NBA franchises do whatever he says. Instead of the whole “practice” media slander happening he probably gets on a “load management” system.
Kobe’s in GOAT conversations and so is Wilt.
Barkley was MVP of the dream team. He won’t have any issue coexisting. Unless that “doesn’t count” because it never happened in this scenerio.
@Hitster Granger was the best two way player in the league before he got injured, besides Kobe who I already have. The original Kawhi prototype.
But of course I would think that because thats why I picked them right lol.

ZouldiersParticipantHey, thanks man. Tell you what though, If you had Prime Arvydas Sabonis, your team would have been extremely tough to beat.
