sniperParticipantStarters: Jerry West, Reggie Miller, Sidney Moncrief, Tim Duncan, Bill Russell
2nd unit: Chauncey Billups, John Havlicek, Rick Barry, Draymond Green, Pau Gasol
Deep bench: Chet Walker, Robert Parish
Coach: Larry BrownExplanation: When I took Duncan as best player available in the 1st round and then Russell as BPA in the 2nd, I knew my best bet was to try and build a defensive monster team. With two of Duncan, Russell or Green on the floor most of the time, and at least one of Moncrief or Billups to slow down the other team’s top perimeter threat, I’ve got a team that’s really hard to score against.
Offensively, I modeled my team after the first couple Spurs championship squads, that had both Duncan and Robinson. The offense runs through Duncan in the high or low post. All the bigs are great passers so we can run lots of high-low actions. The perimeter guys are a collection of great cutters and off-ball movement guys, with a few deadly shooters thrown in (West, Miller & Barry in particular). We don’t have the star power of most teams but I think no one would look forward to playing us.

RUDEBOY-ParticipantStarters- SHAQ,LEBRON,MULLIN,PENNY & THOMAS
2ND UNIT: Ja Morant, David Thompson,Dominique Wilkens, Rodman,Kevin McHale
11TH MAN Peja Stojakovic and 12th Man Tony Allen.
COACH Pay RileyEXPLANATION: I tried to select players that were athletic, had high iqs, versatile ,capable of playing multiple positions and also willing to be the man and allow teammates to shine..Or as Shaq famously says, ”Others Must Do Their Thang”.I Dont see how this team can lose. What defense can stop Shaq Dominance inside or McHale Post Moves..Or stop Lebron,Dominique,Penny,Ja,Zeke or David Thompson from getting into the Lane?
On The Defensive End: With Lebron,Rodman and Tony Allen i have 3 guys considered to be the best defenders at their positions in league history.Shaq was a much better defender than he was given credit..
My Team Has Athletic Dunkers:Ja,Lebron,Thompson,Dominique and Penny
Pure Shooters in Mullin and Peja.3+ - Posted on: Fri, 07/30/2021 - 9:56am #1251309

NorrinRaddParticipantWell… here’s my lineup, since Sniper went first…
Perimeter: Steph Curry, John Stockton, Kyrie Irving, Gail Goodrich
Combo: Dwyane Wade, Sam Jones
Wings: Kawhi Leonard, George Gervin
Stretch: Larry Bird (Jokic)
Bigs: Nikola Jokic, Moses Malone, Alonzo Mourning
Coach: Red AuerbachFor one, my coach is superior and that should matter. My lineups are really fluid and I picked Larry Bird ultimately because not only was he the GOAT until his back said NO, He’s the most irreplaceable player in this draft. My wings are at least as good if not better with Kawhi and Gervin. As much as I like Jerry West, when the logo was at his prime he was losing more than winning… I have Steph, try shutting down the 3 ball with Bird and Steph starting and the Joker… The object of the game is to get more points than the other team, and while I do love Sniper’s team, it’s not quite mine… Of course everyone is right in their own mind though, but imo my team doesn’t have a terrible weakness. I don’t think Sniper’s team has an answer for prime Kawhi either… hope doing this an hour later than him doesn’t burn me up too much… This is why the 3>6 matchup.

ZouldiersParticipantZouldiers’ Team Bay Bay
Starters: Magic Johnson, Ray Allen, Julius Erving, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Chris Bosh
Bench: Russell Westbrook, Pete Maravich, Grant Hill, Carmelo Anthony, Patrick Ewing
Deep: Mitch Richmond and Nate Thurmond
Coach: Gregg PoppovichExplanation: When I drafted Magic as someone to build around, I want to build around him with athletes and that’s where Dr.J and Giannis comes in. Our goal is to outrun everyone and giving Magic those two guys will allow them to do just that. Of course, Starting Ray Allen and Chris Bosh means that I have shooters around in case Giannis/Dr.J/ Magic gets walled. The main theme for my team is versatility meaning we can play any style, we can go big, go small, play fast or slow or whatever which is why I drafted guys like Maravich and Hill where they’re not exactly primary ball handlers but can handle the rock pretty well. Drafting bigs like Ewing and Thurmond will allow me to slow down the likes of Shaq, Wilt, Kareem and Hakeem if need be. If I need more scoring then I got Richmond and Melo to come in. If I need a wildcard, then I’ll put in Westbrook.
But the thing is, I need a coach that can maximize my lineups and who better to do that than Gregg Poppovich and by giving him a roster that will allow him to adapt to any style, our team can match up to basically anyone on here. Defensively, there’s a reason why I drafted guys over 6’5″ besides Westbrook is because of switches, which is a staple in the modern game so there’s that. Good Luck guys, You’re going to need it.

OhCanada-ParticipantPG. Gary Payton, Allen Iverson, Kyle Lowry
SG-Kobe Bryant, Manu Ginobli
SF-Clyde Drexler, Andrei Kirilenko
PF-Charles Barkley, Danny Granger
C-Wilt Chamberlain, Chris Webber, Arvydas SabonisThe theme of my team is defensive versatility and those ‘chip on their shoulder’ players. I needed that extra bit of toughness. Wanted to make sure it had Gary Payton as I think he is the best defensive PG ever and will make it tough for any team. Everybody is a threat from long range aside from Wilt Chamberlain. With my last few picks instead of picking top 50 kind of guys I wanted to find good fits for my team.
AK 47 gives me someone to defend length and athleticism on the perimeter and at the rim. At SG I have three players that are 6’7 that can really defend with Kobe, Manu and Drex. I think Granger is one of the most underrated players and was probably the best two way player in the NBA before running into injuries. He was another one of those guys that could guard all 5 positions, it just didn’t matter.
As for Erik Spoelstra I had to take a modern coach. I was thinking of picking Chuck Daly but the dream team apparently wouldn’t count in this and I really needed to pick someone who’s dealt with modern run and gun/5 man out playstyles and things like Hack a Sq.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantStarters: PG Chris Paul SG Klay Thompson SF Kevin Durant PF Kevin Garnett C Hakeem Olajuwon
Bench F Karl Malone G Walt Frazier G-F Paul Pierce G-F Paul George F-C Elvin Hayes G Nate Archibald F-C Rasheed WallaceI tried to build a team with length and defensive versatility. This is also a team with multiple shot creators and no shortage of ways to score the ball. I have the lineup versatility to go big or small without sacrificing quickness. I know as the 8th seed I will be the underdog against Canada Basketball is Rising, as he has a prime Jordan and the most successful coach of all-time. However, I feel my team is perfectly suited to deal with the team he will put on the floor. I have big physical wings, in Klay Thompson, George, Pierce and Frazier, who can give Jordan different looks and make him work. I also have mobile bigs with length who will make it nearly impossible to get clean looks at the rim. I think my bigs will have an advantage over his in the post, as Hakeem will take David Robinson to school as he did in the 1995 playoffs, and Durant, Klay and Paul George will keep the floor spaced and it nearly impossible to double. I have a coach in steve kerr who is extremely familiar with the triangle offense that phil jackson will run, and will be well-prepared for it. And if it comes down to it, I have a player in Durant, who is the ultimate matchup nightmare and can go shot for shot with jordan if need be. Don’t get me wrong, Canada Basketball has a solid roster and this will be a tough matchup, but I am completely confident I’ve put together a roster that will prevail. The idea that a prime Jordan can’t be beat is a just a myth. First of all, he was (against the Pistons several times before finally breaking through) and second of all, he has never faced a roster who can present the kind of challenges mine will.

dmo21ParticipantSorry for the delay. Figured to save the best for last… hahaha
PG: Oscar Robertson, Steve Nash
SG: James Harden, Vince Carter
SF: Elgin Baylor, Tracy McGrady, Jimmy Butler
PF: Dirk Nowitzki, James Worthy, Dave Cowens
C: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Joel Embiid
Coach: Rudy TomjanovicFor my team, I honestly just went for the best players I could at each point. When you have this much talent, it’s hard to overcome. My thought was not too draft role players from the NBA but take guys that were All Stars and Hall of Famers that would be role players on my team (Carter and McGrady as shooters/scorers/energy off the bench, Butler as my wing D off the bunch, Cowens as my hustle guy). Instead of my team focusing on one style, I wanted my team to be able to handle any style of play. You wanna run? We have a bunch of athletes that can keep up. You wanna get into a shooting match? We can have shooters at all 5 positions. You wanna slow it down and play half court? We’ll post up Kareem and Embiid all day. Wanna play big? Our smallest guy on the court will be 6’5. Wanna play small? We can do that too.
Each player has been an All Star. Retired guys in the Hall of Fame. We’re sporting 6 guys who have won the MVP. You can’t isolate anybody on this team. No glaring weaknesses. There’s nobody to “Hack-a-Shaq”. Can’t go zone and force us to shoot 3s. Can’t run us into the ground. We’re deep and adaptable.Went Rudy for coach as this team is full of high IQ All Stars. They don’t need a certain system to succeed. They need a coach who is a good communicator and motivator while note being a hot head. Known to be good with veteran players and has had success in the playoffs.

armchairgmParticipantNo idea what the matchups are, but to me there are 3 teams clearly above the rest and that is Sniper as my Champ edging out Oh Canada in the Finals. Rude Boy was my other team I thought was in mix.

Pro 1ParticipantA lot of good players left over:
PG: Jason Kidd, Tim Hardaway, Kevin Johnson, Dennis Johnson, Mark Price, Mookie Blaylock, Derrick Rose, Tony Parker, Damian Lillard
SG: Bradley Beal, Walter Davis, Dale Ellis, Brandon Roy, Michael Finley, Earl Monroe, Rick Barry, World B Free
SF: Glenn Rice, Alex English, Adrian Dantley, Mark Aguirre, Marques Johnson, Detlef Schrempf, Bob McAdoo, Bob Dandridge
PF: Shawn Kemp, Tom Chambers, Kevin Willis, Buck Williams, Horace Grant, Kevin Love, Blake Griffin, Anthony Davis, Spencer Haywood
PC: Artis Gilmore, Darryl Dawkins, Marc Gasol, Bill Laimbeer, Mark Eaton, Yao Ming, Wes Unseld, Bob Lanier, Jack SikmaJust for fun I would choose:
CP Mark Eaton, Marc Gasol
PF Shawn Kemp, Anthony Davis, Tom Chambers
SF Mark Aguirre, Adrian Dantley, Alex English
SG Bradley Beal, Brandon Roy
PG Jason Kidd, Mookie Blaylock
Coach: Don Nelson (Offense)/George Karl (Defense)The left overs. I took players who could defend the post and point guard position at a high level while looking for scoring from my small forward and shooting guard positions. Also, I wanted mobile, athletic above the rim power forwards who could be small ball centers. Chose two head coaches one for offense (the mad scientist Nelson) and one for defense (a defensive mastermind Karl).

ZouldiersParticipantKidd, Barry and Anthony Davis got drafted
2+- Posted on: Mon, 08/02/2021 - 6:34am #1251397

HitsterParticipantI was thinking surely someone took Kidd! thanks for confirming he went. Was Mutombo taken in the end as he hadn’t been well into the later rounds but wasn’t on the list above.
Also insane that D-Rose 2011 MVP wasn’t taken as if we are just looking at a player’s NBA peak then I’d have drafted around MVP’s after getting first few spots filled up then All NBA’s, All Defensive Teams and finally glue guys on title teams.0- Posted on: Mon, 08/02/2021 - 3:47pm #1251425

ZouldiersParticipantMutombo was not taken. I was thinking him or Nate Thurmond but ultimately went with Nate because he was able to slow down Kareem and Wilt back in the day

Pro 1ParticipantWho drafted Kidd? I don’t see him listed on any of the posted rosters above? Didn’t see Anthony Davis either? Unless I’m just not reading the rosters correctly??
It would be much easier to read if all of the posters listed their roster like the NBA does :
PG
SG
SF
PF
CPJust for fun I would choose:
CP Mark Eaton, Marc Gasol
PF Bob McAdoo, Shawn Kemp, Tom Chambers
SF Mark Aguirre, Adrian Dantley, Alex English
