Looking at this, No Joel Ayayi, No Franz Wagner, No Usman, No Alperun, No Giddey, No Cade, No Suggs, No Rokas, No Filip Petrusev, No Duarte

Kinda surprised Ayayi and Wagner turned it down. The international guys its fine. Duarte rumored to have first round promise so not really surprising.

Is there a story about Joel Ayayi not being there? I think he would be the surprising name to be missing, but there must be a reason.

Maybe he has a promise we don’t know about? Everyone is assuming Duarte has a promise because he declined but all of that is just speculation.

One thing I wanna ask everyone, maybe it deserves its own thread. Why is Duarte projected as a mid to late 1st but Omoruyi isn’t on any boards. Am I the only one who thinks Omoruyi was the Ducks best player last year and he should be able to fit in as that highly coveted hybrid forward that can play either forward position on both ends of the floor. Both turned 24 this year and Omoruyi is just a few months older.

Duarte seems to fit the new age of the NBA while Omoruyi isn’t your prototypical prospect for better or worse the way the direction of the league’s going. Duarte is a pretty complete G. Omoruyi I’m not sure has a definitive role and this is a very deep draft. He might get drafted or signed after the draft. But he is an undersized paint player that shows promise of being capable of a stretch 4. It’s a good point though, he should be on some boards.

You would think any team picks Duarte in the 1st round would pick Omoruyi in the 2nd. I’ve had Duarte going to Memphis for a month now because of the similarities to Brooks and they never shy away from picking older players. I don’t think Omoruyi slips pas Memphis at 51. Theres also the Canadian connection with Clarke and Brooks.

just curious what you see Omoruyi’s ceiling? Duarte could be a Spencer Dinwiddie best case scenario imo. Omoruyi could be being slept on. PAC12 was proven to be vastly underrated as they proved in tournament play. I like how you play the connections game. That makes some sense. Right now I have Memphis taking Cam Thomas.

In some ways I can understand the argument about Duarte and Omoruyi, but I see the difference. Duarte moved to the US in high school, was placed academically where he was, and had to go to Juco. He was 2019 national player of the year by the NJCAA. It is not as if his game was holding him back, but universities do have an academic component. He is old for a draft prospect, but it is largely due to non-basketball reasons. He had a good junior year. A late season injury kind of slowed him and brought down his numbers a bit, and then everything shut down. Oregon was a contender, and theoretically could have made a name for himself a year ago if things in the world went a different way. He returned, had an excellent season, and has prototypical size for his position. Omoruyi didn’t play basketball until the 10th grade. As a result, it makes perfect sense that he is a late developing player. I think coaches will like him because he plays hard defensively, and has an improved shot, but he is still an undersized 4. I don’t think he is going to get the benefit of the doubt of title winner like Eric Paschall, but obviously he is getting workouts and is invited to the G-League event. It is not as if there is a doubt as to whether he will be on a summer league team in August and probably in a training camp.
