TommieKingParticipantTwo all star caliber players, three great trade pieces in Capela and Huerter + this years 6th overall pick + the most cap room in the league and budding talent in Reddish and Hunter. . I’ve done some crazy trade machine stuff and the best I’ve found so far is Capela and Huerter with this years first and a future first for Booker works. Can’t say the suns go for it but how do y’all think the Hawks can assemble a roster that would attract a major free agent?

sniperParticipantI read that the Hawks are one of four teams on Westbrook’s list (the others — LA, LA and Milwaukee — wouldn’t touch him with a 10 ft. pole).
Suppose they traded Collins, Dedmon and a re-signed Teague for Westbrook — he doesn’t make the Hawks a contender, but he immediately gets them into the playoff hunt, which is a start.

TommieKingParticipantMan anything but Westbrook. He’s a team killer, the stats tell the story. He’s great in volume and that doesn’t produce winning. Can’t have my main player be a ball stopper with those %’s. And def not for John Collins, he’s an efficient 20 and 10, people don’t understand he’s putting up almost identical stats to Amare Stoudamire through as many seasons. Hard to believe I know, but true. I want to retain Collins as a piece for as long as we can, move Capela and Huerter

sniperParticipantI wouldn’t trade Collins for Westbrook either if both were in long-term deals making the same money … but if the Hawks are going to lose Collins in free agency anyway, I think this would not be a terrible deal for them.

2quick4uParticipantLast year ATL was 27th in DEF Rtg and 26th in OFF Rtg that means not only they are horrible defensively but also in OFF.
In order to win a Championship or at least to be a contender, you absolutely need to be good on DEF. and that means you have to be at very least a Top 10 DEF team.and then couple that with being at least Top 12 in OFF Rtg and at least Top 6 in SRS.
In order to achieve those numbers, especially on DEF, you have to start by getting rid of Collins as he’s a good player but doesn’t have any impact on Def and is not versatile.
This is what i’d do or at least try to do in order to achieve those collective numbers and compete:
1. Trade Capela+Hunter+2021 1st for M.Turner+TJ Warren
*Turner is in his all time low and he’s vastly underrated as he’s one of the very very few players in the league who can make a team a top 6 DEF team with his sole presence, plus you get a scoring machine like Warren instead of Hunter whom also doesn’t have the impact on Def you would expect.
2. Trade J.Collins+Reddish+Dedmon+pick 6 for Jaylen Brown+pick 14+C.Edwards
*As mentioned, Collins is not the player you want if you want to win so get rid of him to get one of the best 2 way players in the league at only 24.
3. Draft Precious Achiuwa with BOS pick 14
*Precious is the most versatile player in the draft and with most Def potential.capable of defending 1-5.
4. Sign in Free Agency J.Grant for 15-16 Mill. + J.Holiday and K.O’quinn for the cheap.
-ROSTER:
PG- Trae Young
SG- K.Huerter
SF- J.Brown
F- J.Grant
C- M.Turner
6th- TJ Warren
+ P.Achiuwa
+C.Edwards
+ J.Holiday
+ K.O’Quinn0 - Posted on: Sat, 11/14/2020 - 11:45pm #1243097
