There’s a lot of chatter this year. Some mind games going on. I’ve heard of at least 4 guys the Warriors have locked in on, not one of those rumours seeming to have much to them. It’s the case not only with rumoured team plans, but also with the projected draft position of individuals. I can’t remember a draft where players like Ball and Wiseman are now expected to go 1-2, when just last week I saw LaMelo being mocked to the Pistons and Wiseman down to the Spurs.
I think some teams will look at trading down cos there’s a chance you get who you want a lot later, even if you draft at the top. Also, if a team below really like someone, they’ll have to go up because it’s very hard to mock who is going where. So with that said, here’s some ideas on moves that I think could happen. Love to hear what you think, and of any ideas you have.

    – Wolves drafting LaMelo and trading to the Bulls for Coby White and #4 Obi Toppin
    – Hornets #3 with Batum to the Cavs for #5 & Kevin Love.
    – Warriors trading #2 & Wiggins to Philly for Simmons & Horford
    – Wolves #1 drafting Wiseman and sending him (with cap filler) to the Spurs for #11 and Derozan
    – Warriors trading #2 for to the Pistons #7 and Christian Wood sign & trade
    – Warriors #2 to the Pelicans for Jrue Holiday and #13

I think you should take a quick look at the warriors cap hell…every time you add a single dollar to their book.
    130MD commited to 4 players in 2021, 139 MD in 2022.

The Warriors have an exception to use and an owner willing to pay during this window the have the Splash brothers, irrespective of any covid related projected financial loss.

The Knicks are drooling over Ball so I could see some kind of trade with them and the Timberwolves. Charlotte is the same with Wiseman, so I could see something maybe happening there also with the TW.
I don’t see either MN or GS using their picks, for one thing anyone they draft won’t be worth the money they’re going to have to pay them in that slot in the draft. They’ll use their picks and other resources to pick up an established player.
I’ll be shocked if either MN or GS make their picks and keep them. Neither of them need young players sitting on their bench and paying them big money to do that.

the warriors wont deal their pick 100% unless a player of beal’s ability is available. Wiggins plus the second pick is not worth much less than that. Wiggins does have his own value, and is NOT negative asset like people think.

I still think Detroit is the most likely to move up to #1. They will be able to absorb the James Johnson contract after the league year changes, have the 7th pick, and can throw in a sweetener of Luke Kennard. I really don’t think Minnesota or Golden State can get much more than some cap flexibility and a rookie scale player to move back. Then again, the cap flexibility has not been this valued since 2008 or 2009, and probably more so now because they still had butts in seats during the last recession.

The Thunder just traded Schröder to the Lakers for Danny Green and the player taken with the 28th pick this year. I‘m convinced Green won’t play a single minute for them and will be dealt to a team like the Sixers soon.
I‘m also pretty sure the Thunder will move up in this draft and hold the picks 25 and 28. I saw them picking Pokusevski a few times on different sites and this could still happen if they hold onto their 25 pick if he is there. I also believe the Thunder have a strong desire to get their hands on a top ten player and I‘m convinced it’s Killian Hayes.
The problem is he could go anywhere in the top 10 and it could be difficult to find a team that’s working. The Knicks pick might be to low and I don’t see a Trade with the Cavs or Bulls working.

I can see Boston, Dallas, Spurs moving up if certain players drop and I still reckon someone will take a flyer on Pokusevski in the later lottery.
I mentioned the Spus looking at Deni Avdija on another post but they could well be monitoring Hayes very closely and could be proactive chasing him around the board.
Brooklyn might look for a proven vet with 19th pick, they would have takers for that. Miami are win now so 20th pick could be in play as Pat Riley isn’t afraid to make deals.
One total wildcard Wiggins and Drummond’s salaries match fairly nicely would GSW try to do something with the Cavs to get a good quality big and if the Cavs look to lose Drummond for nothing then Wiggins could appeal being under a long term deal. Not sure if 2nd and 5th would be figured in.
