I’m predicting a trade between Minnesota and Atlanta:
#1 Antony Edwards and #33 for #6 Okongwu and Cam Reddish
Atlanta getting the best potential guy in the draft, adding what could be an ultimate firepower and the missing piece for saping the team tring to build a future contender: Young/Edwards/Hunter/Collins/Capela
Minnesota trading down to take who a lot believe is the best fit for them, Okongwu… And for trading down they get compensation in Reddish who they can model into the 3 and d guy they desperately need, to replace what they lost after giving up on Covington:
    Russell/Beasley(Okogie)/Culver(Reddish)/KAT/Okongwu

Rosas is trying to get back into next years first round, so I could see him trading the first pick to Charlotte for theirs and next years #1 and then trading #3 pick with NY to get the 8th pick and take someone they want there plus add Knox and one of NY’s first round picks they got from Dallas for next year.
I really don’t see the Wolves staying with the first pick and paying that kind of money to sign that pick no matter what.

Minnesota #1 and James Johnson’s $16 million to Detroit for #7 and Luke Kennard. Minnesota needs to save some money or risk losing Beasley. Detroit can absorb the Johnson contract after the start of the new league year with its cap space. Kennard is a better fit for what Minnesota wants to do, whether that works or not will remain a question, and I think guys at #7 like Bey or Vassell are better fits. Detroit has a new GM, and therefore time. This is not a draft worth paying a premium to move up, but they can do so at a reasonable price. The Knicks could also make the trade, and quite simply with the non-guaranteed deals with Payton and Ellington or Portis. I don’t think the Knicks have anyone they would move like Kennard to help sweeten the deal so as not make it appear to be a largely financial deal (though it would be in either case).

Golden State would be a more sensible partner for the Knicks with #2 for #8. They can take on Jordan Poole and Kevon Looney’s contract to save the Warriors considerable money in salary and luxury tax by sending them Ellington’s contract to waive. They might have to agree to some phony conditional pick swap to make it look less financial (say a pick swap in 2021 if the Knicks pick outside the lottery otherwise a 2nd), but the Warriors are going to be in either the $1.75 or $2.50 on the dollar over the luxury tax rate. They can save $5.9 million in salary by going from Poole and Looney to Ellington’s guaranteed number. Going from #2 to #8 also saves another $3 million in first year salary (I don’t think the scale is official until the cap is set, but there about). You also need to factor in the tax savings when looking at why Golden State would see this move back as being so attractive, though the exact number is hard to calculate because they would still need to fill out the vacated roster spot. Maybe they use it on a MLE option, and the savings is less. If they just use it on a rookie or league minimum player, it is huge. If they take Avdija at #8 and ask him to play for Maccabi and stay off the payroll in 2020-21, it is huge.

New York will fail to move up to get LaMelo and trade with the Celtics to get 14, 26, 30 for Pick 8. Reports are that New York is interested in moving down as well.

There are some teams that just don’t seem to improve due to poor drafting and inability to sign free agents. I’m thinking about Charlotte right now. They really need to change what they are doing. I can’t see anything but mid lottery finishes for the next few years. They finally get a top 3 pick and it’s a weak draft. I don’t know where to start with this team, but I’m going to suggest a somewhat controversial approach because they have to try something. I’d be looking to move this #3 pick because it’s fools gold this year. Monk, Bridges and Washington are the keys. Someone could give up something nice in exchange for their potential, but I don’t see it. The Hornets believed in these guys enough to draft them, so if they want them to succeed, they should be trying to support them with vets rather than just drafting similar, players at their positions and not having any genuine investment in any of them. I’d be trying to land an all star on the down side of their career, a good vet that’s perhaps overpaid or someone being portrayed as a problem that you may steal for cheap (George, Oladipo) and let them come in and lead. I’d offer the pick with some bad contracts like Batum or Zeller in exchange and see who bites. You may get a future frp or lower from this draft thrown in. I’m thinking Westbrook, Derozan, Adams, Wiggins, Paul, Wall, Aldridge. Maybe even try sign someone everyone else has given up on eg. Boogie. This has to be a better approach than being back here drafting 6 or 7 again next year.
So, I’m going to hope for them that they trade their pick.
More realistically, I see them standing pat, hoping for Wiseman who comes in and is just average, splitting minutes with Zeller.

To me, Charlotte, more than anyone, shouldn’t take a pass-first point guard. There’s no one on Charlotte to pass to. Lonzo couldn’t do anything without Zion. I think they need a shoot first guy that Charlotte can run plays for. I think it’s easier to grow shoot 1st guys in these situations. Ball could jump right into a near-playoff team and push them into the playoffs. That’s a better environment for that dude.

I like the idea of a Cavs trade of Sexton and #5 for #1.
Wolves end up with Sexton, DLo, Culver/Okogie, Toppin and KAT. Cavs pair Garland and Edwards in the backcourt.

Ainge at Boston if he likes someone in the top 10 will look to move up I think.
Dallas have apparently said anyone not called Porz or Donic is available for a trade they have 18th and 31st so could look to move up into the lottery.
Philly with 21, 34 and 36 look another trade up option or do a 34 and 36th for another late first rounder as the top teams in 25 to 30 range often like the none guaranteed high second rounders.
I think Knicks look to use 8th and 27th to maybe move up a place or two. Depends on what the likes of the Hawks fancy in the draft.

I predict a draft day trade suns lakers.
Something around green, kuzma, 28th pick vs Oubré and fillers(or not).
A short term win win trade.

I predict the pistons will be the dump superstars !!!!
They’ll trade blake griffin to the hornets, a willing MJ(albatross batum involved obviously), they’ll trade rose, and then they’ll collect salary dumps and youth/picks attached.
str8 up and 3 teams trade(pistons for the tank, the youth, the picks, a team to shed salary, a team to improve).

Steven Adams finally a Celtic, Hayward and 2 1st round picks the other way.

    .
