DeAndreParticipantWhy is he in the 2011 mockdraft??
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/21/2010 - 2:06pm #249401

The8thDeadlySinParticipantBecause the way he has been playing makes everyone think that he will have to go back to school to improve his stock, kinda like Patterson from UK. But I thought he was in the 2010 draft. . . I guess Im wrong. He has slipped in his play and the rumor around Morgantown is because he is into drugs. I think he looks bigger but they say he has lost about 15 pounds, which is alot when you dont weigh anything to begin with. I think he should return and be “The Man” at WVU next year because Butler will have graduated.

JNixonParticipantDevin Ebanks would be better off developing some more on offense, but he is a player that I think could have a considerable impact if he came out for 2010 because I think he could develop into one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA, and he already is well on his way. He’s NBA ready and then some at that end from what I’ve seen. He could develop into a Trevor Ariza type or at best a Lamar Odom…

The8thDeadlySinParticipantI am a “die hard WVU fan” and I know that Ebanks isnt NBA ready and he isnt the athlete people think he is. He is very very subpar in defense. He gets away with being very long. He has average speed, under average effort, and isnt a great rebounder. He rebounds well because he is long. He has no offense to speak of. He needs to get his head out of his butt and put out some effort.

Turral2ParticipantHe is playing very soft and uncofident…it seems like he actually degressed from last year.. last year he was aggresive as ever… u know what killed him… HYPE…..

The8thDeadlySinParticipantI agree 100%. Like I said earlier, I had heard that he was getting into some pretty bad stuff. Even last year, he wasnt a good offensive player. However, last year, he was explosive, he was excited, he was efficient. Now, he is turning the ball over, shooting lots of threes, but still getting pretty good numbers. I cant imagine how good we would be if he was playing like last year. Its kind of disappointing.

Turral2ParticipantWhat do you think of him??

gatorheelsParticipantHonestly I’m not a fan of West Virginia so I rarely watch them play. I remember watching some of the Purdue/WV game. I watched Ebanks quite a bit last season though. Defensively he looks average. I see the upside/potential. I have seen games where he looked unbelievable but have seen a few games where I didn’t even notice him. I wouldn’t take him the lottery in 2010. I think he would look absolutely lost in the NBA right now.

JNixonParticipantHe seems just like Corey Brewer to me as a prospect…8thDeadlysin is a fan of them so he watches them more than I do. I’ll agree with his assessment. I’ve only seen Ebanks play a limited amount of games, but I was impressed with him defensively in those games.

Turral2ParticipantSo what happen to this statement “Devin Ebanks would be better off developing some more on offense, but he is a player that I think could have a considerable impact if he came out for 2010 because I think he could develop into one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA, and he already is well on his way. JNixonParticipantWhat do you mean what happened to those statements?

the I in winParticipantI don’t remember who they were playing but he got 2 clutch on ball steals to seal the game. Not saying 2 steal makes you a good defender, i’m just saying with his lenth and hand speed he COULD be a nasty defender.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantThey were playing Cleveland State. You guys have to understand, anyone can defend. Playing defense requires nothing but effort. That is something that Ebanks just doesnt seem to have this year. I promise you, he was a good defender last year, but this year there is just something missing. I love the guy and I pray that he gets it together but the smartest decision for him would be to pull a Patterson and return for his JR year.
