I know Lebron and Durant are pretty different players so don’t read too far into this. I’m just a bit of a stat junkie and was looking at them today and noticed a lot of similarities ( sans the assists )

    Lebron – 29.6 ppg 7.1 rpg 7.7 apg FG% .51% 3 point % .37% SPG 1.52 BPG .95
    Durant – 29.1 ppg 7.1 rpg 3.0 apg FG% .48% 3 point % .36% SPG 1.32 BPG .85

Again just thought it was interesting, I don’t think Durant it as good or better than Lebron.

Honestly, because of his height and length, I thought Durant would be a 9-10 rebounds per type of guy in the NBA.

Yeah, he was huge on the glass at Texas too, I think he averaged 11 or something. This is his career high in rbs, I bet it only continues to go up as he continues to lift and play NBA ball. He has put on about 15 pounds since his rookie year and I bet he is playing at atleast 235 or 240 in 3 more years.

Personally, I think his body is perfectly fine as it is…I agree that he will probably improve though, I have no reason to believe he won’t considering he has improved alot on D this season

Yeah, I agree and I can’t imagine him at 250, I don’t think he’d be nearly as effective as a player. Drew Gooden is a perfect example of a guy who lost some of his agility and really effectiveness when he bulked up too much. He was about 225 with a good mid range jumper and point forward abilities coming out of college and quite frankly thats why he was drafted so high, but he added too much weight and at 250 or so what he is now is nothing more than a rebounding specialist 6-7th man. I think Durant will put on a little weight (mainly because he is only 21 ) but I bet it is only to about 235 or 240 tops

Yeah, during when Gooden was in Orlando he was a much more skilled player, If I remember right he even used to be a threat from 3. Durant does not need any extra weight outside of maybe 5 pounds of added muscle. He is a 6’10 perimeter not a 6’10 PF that plays in the post. He is amazing now, and he is only getting better He shouldnt mess around with his body and possibly losing speed or athleticism.

i just read an article on either espn or foxsports that blasted durant for being horrible on defense and suggesting he needed to add more muscle because he get’s pushed around too much and never boxes out or fights through screens properly.

i don’t normally trust stats but this really tells the story well between those two. both great scorers and good rebounders for their size. only difference is Lebron’s assists.

llperez they can say whatever they want, but I don’t buy that bs.Maybe you could have made a case for that last yr, but no way is he a weak defender this season and if they want evidence they can check the games and the win column

i don’t watch enough to say for sure. I was just going by the column i read, and the guy broke down numerous examples during a game where durant didn’t defend well and he bit on shot fakes and reached on defense and was outmuscled on rebounds and didn’t react on defense or fight through screens. They weren’t trying to completely bash him because they were talking about what a great offensive player he is and how he just needs a little more focus on the other end to become truly special.

yeah but what you dont take into account lookin at those stats are how many times each of em get to the line and what their % are.. both get there around 9 times but durant shoots 89% lebron shoots 71%

damn 89%, the asts don’t mean as much I think since he has Westbrook and Maynor now.
Meanwhile Lebron runs the offense and Mo Williams isn’t a typical pass first PG at least he wasn’t in the past.

in college he played pf but in nba hes a sf or better to say hes point forward so i think that his 7 boards per game is quite enough and esspecialy cause hes one of the biggest threat in offense so he really dont need to rebound
