festar35ParticipantThe Kings are about to go to 0-3 with Martin back in the line-up as they are being handled comfortably by the Bobcats is it time to explore the the league for a suitable trade for Martin?

MagikKnickParticipantAbsolutely, Him and Tyreke Evans must not be able to play together, and im sure they’d much rather move forward with Evans than Martin…..i suggest they trade him now while he still holds value, maybe get a pick and/or a few young pieces to add to there youth, im sure a contending team wouldnt mind adding a shooter in Martin

Not in this economy, not with three years and over $30M left on his contract for the next three years. Maybe a couple of expirings and a 1st rounder, I’m sure the Kings wouldn’t want to do that, but it’s better to take what you can get now before there season gets even worse with him playing, how do you get worse when your 25+ PPG SG comes back from an injury? That’s not saying much for Martin, and I think that makes other execs weary of adding him to their rosters, especially when the Kings want young pieces for in return for him. The Wolves need a SG like nobody’s business, but there D is horrible as well, do they take his contract on and hope the best for the future? Maybe Brian Cardinal, Ramon Sessions, and Utah’s 1st Rounder?

NorthernLights666ParticipantWhat would you say to persuade another GM to want Martin if your Geoff Petrie? Well, he’s a dynamic scorer, one of the best in the League, but he doesn’t play D, and misses at least a third of the season every year (last 3 seasons have been like that) because of injuries. Plus you have to take his $10M contract per year on for the next three seasons. If you were to go by just his stats that’s not a bad number, but when you look at his game outside of scoring, and the fact that he’s consistently injured every season, it kind of seems a little over priced for what you get. I like him, but I wouldn’t give up anything promising for him, he’d have to stay injury free throughout a season first.

IndianaBasketballParticipantWhy trade Martin right now? He’s only been back a few games… Of course it’s going to take he and Evans time to develop chemistry. It’s a good thing some of y’all aren’t GM’s… Y’all would be trigger happy lol.

you absolutely seem like you have never even seen evans or martin play…
Consider this… since martin has been back both tyreke and him have been playin just FINE.. the reason why they lost those games was cause jason thompson play some of the worst games of his carreer as well as spencer hawes…. in fact. i think the martin and evans have been working particularly well together… it gives them a very diverse back court that ACTUALLY WORKS WELL TOGETHER…
their deep problems stem from their inability to gaurd anybody 6’9 or taller… not from the coexistance of evans and martin…

quinceyhodgesis thompson playing worst or is he not getting the touches like he used to?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 01/18/2010 - 11:41am #248447

llperezi agree with tezo. 2 1/2 games together and you guys are already deciding it doesn’t work. It takes time for martin to get his rythm back. Keep in mind the kings aren’t very good and they were over achieving early in the year and 3 straight losses shouldn’t be some kind of huge deal.

finneganParticipanttrade thompson and hawes. tyreke needs better bigman than those two. draft fAvors and cousins. trade martin too and draft xavier henry. another lost by the kings, i like that. i want them to loose more, i want them to get high draft pick, tyreke needs better teamates. its time to TANK

rickyD510Participantthompson’s just playing worse he still getting the open jumpers and still missing easy layups but still is rebounding and hustling

TheFactionCoalition.comParticipantQuincey- JT is playing horribly, he had a good stat line the other night in Philly but he is playing awful.
They came back today with Martin on the bench, but I don’t see how you blame Martin for NOBODY else being able to make a basket when he’s on the floor. They came back because Nocioni and beno started hitting shots. Martin had an off game but when Tyreke learns how to play with him and Martin gets his shot back…Look at all the open 3’s they had today. They went 3/20 in 3’s in the first 2.5 quarters. Add in all the TO’s…they travel more than anyone in the league. Those pump fake then dribble type travels, it’s ridiculous.
I think you have to give it some time. I know everyone is ready to trade Martin for backup pgs on other teams on this site, but that’s not realistic. They only trade Martin for front court help or cap space. I promise.0 - Posted on: Mon, 01/18/2010 - 11:55am #248457

BasketBalAllanParticipantIf only the Refs would have had the power to see the replay so they could have seen that it was not a goal tend by Donte Greene, just a great block…
The Kings have played better without Martin on the floor for the last three games, but you need more than three games to decide whether or not a player is going to develop the right chemistry with the team. Give him another week or two to even get his feet back under him. Trading Martin seems like a good idea right now, but who knows what will happen within the next few weeks, the Kings have been playing terrible as a team even without Martin on the floor, so there could be other reasons for a three game slump.

BasketBalAllanParticipantHe has not been playing as well as usual simply because he is not hitting his open shots, he is still hustling and trying; he has just been getting himself into too much foul trouble in the last few weeks and suffers because of it. Lay off the guy a bit, he is expected to be the Kings go to guy down low and he is a little undersized for a center (which is what he plays a lot on defense), he has only played one and a half seasons in the NBA, and he has no help down low.

rickyD510Participantidk something is just telling me that martin rushed his return because he seems too tentative when he takes shots and has hardly drove maybe its just the rust and getting used to being a second option
0 - Posted on: Mon, 01/18/2010 - 12:07pm #248462
quinceyhodgesthats how most guys who come back from injury play. they play tentitive because they still tghink about the injury and have to get comfortable
0 - Posted on: Mon, 01/18/2010 - 12:18pm #248468
armani dont have anything against thompson and hawes but they arent right fit for kings, kings need a big man like noah who doesnt need lot of touches (and who plays some good D) especially if martin and reke be their backourt in future… i think that camby is a good fit also and they should try to trade someone for him
0 - Posted on: Mon, 01/18/2010 - 1:14pm #248486

sheltwon3ParticipantBeen saying this for months that it will not work and not Martin’s value is dropping.

quinceyhodgesi think they need time. just like i was telling the same people on here who said gay and mayo cant work. some of ya’ll are just too impatient
0 - Posted on: Mon, 01/18/2010 - 1:41pm #248497

d-grizzlyParticipantdon’t trade for now. but if a good trade comes along that the kings can’t refuse, then i could see them taking it.
a big man who dominates the game is the specific need for the kings. i’ve seen them live and watch their games on league pass all the time.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 01/18/2010 - 1:50pm #248501
quinceyhodgesyeah but its not easy just getting a big man who dominates. most teams arent willing to give that away for a sg

the I in winParticipantthis is amazingly biased but a trade to cleveland woudl be lovely. They have managed to make terrible defender into servicable ones. They made a line up with damon jones and drew gooden have the best D in the league. He is long and somewhat quick so defence is possible. His style would complement well with lebron and shaq.

quinceyhodgesim so glad some of ya’ll are nba gm’s lol. as soon as a team would have losing streaks ya’ll would be like ” ok we have to trade this or that guy”. the players would never be able to get comfortable with the other players games and most of the good young players ya’ll would have would never get a chance to develop with ya’ll. sumtimes you just gotta work with what you got if they are young. you have to wait couple of seasons in most cases to see what you have
