Why does Syracuse get no LOVE when they have establish themselves as one of the power house in college basketball? Why are they never talk about as a power house team when they do work year in and year out? Their in the Big East and I feel they get no love when they have such a good team.

If not #1 then atleast top 3 this weekend. Watching all these college games, there is no other team playing as well as they are right now in the nation. They’ve beaten Cal, NC, and now FL; all were rank under 15 when they played Cuse.

    1, 2, 3 should be:

1 – Syracuse – Playing team basketball with great team chemisty (It’s the coach, starting Tirch and close with Scoop at the point). Great team game on both ends of the floor. Billy Donovon said it him self,”They don’t have much weakness, they score inside, shoot 3’s, rebound, run, and play great d”. Has beaten every team they’ve played by 10 points, showing lots of dominice when playing.

2 – Kansas – I like this team but they have not really played anyone that has been up to their standards. They’re playing good basketball against no so good teams. Until they play good basketball against good teams, I don’t want to consider them the #1 team.

3 – Kentucky – Tons of talent on this team. Great win against UConn and NC but their play is still very sloppy. Struggle against weaker teams when they should be blowing out none rank teams. If they get more organize when March comes in, I think this team will be unstoppable with the talent they have. Need to see them run a half court offense, you can only run and gun so long.

Can someone tell me why this team shouldn’t be rank number #1? They have a loterry draft pick in Wes Johnson, what more do they need? Is it because they don’t have 3 players in the 1st round draft? They’ve proven before it doesn’t take 3 NBA prospects to win a natinoal title to be #1. Look at 2003 with only one NBA prospect, Melo, one of the greatest right now.

As a life long Cuse fan I feel as if we do get over looked when it comes to naming top programs. But the other programs have a bigger following then us and recruit better. we have always put a soild team on the floor, but this year I think we should be top three right now because of who we beat so far. I’m going to wait till after Big East play before I start talking stuff, because the teams we played are not use to the 2-3 . but we will be a final four team this year, cause it looks like the same team that won the Championship. We have a shooter, a great wing player, and good guards. Wes is no Melo but we will make it to the Final Four.

I don’t think Syracuse is overlooked at all. But if Boheim wins another championship one day then watch out. Also, two of the last four years, we didn’t make the tournament. The other two, we went out in the first round, so we were down for a little but. But every year, Syracuse has more nationally televised games than Duke, NC, etc. And they’re in New York, so many times, the get the East Coast bias.

The reason they aren’t ranked number 1 is because we started the season unranked and had to work our way up. Many people overlooked the Cuse because of the loses to Devendorf, Flynn and Harris. But we’re a veteran team and players who didn’t have a chace to shoot last year are now doing so, catching every one off guard.

One more thing, I don’t like Brandon Triche at the point. You can tell he is a top 100 player and normally wouldn’t even be in the rotation. I know he won’t be next year when Dion Waiters comes to town. Triche wants to shoot the ball WAY too much and turns the ball over more than Monte Ellis, lol. He only starts because he’s 6 foot 4, making the team very long. But he isn’t that good. Scoop Jardine, while already the closer, should also start. I’m glad there are some Cuse fans on this site.

    Bring back Jason Hart
    Shouts out to Todd Burgan
    Tony Bland transferred
    So did Deshawn Williams
Preston Shumpter could fill it up from 3
    Lawrence Moten wore high socks
    Derrick Coleman was unstoppable.

personally i think the loss of Devendorf helped he was a liability on defense and a ball hog stopping the Cuse from spreading the ball that’s part of the reason their better and Rautins is amazing and Jackson is developing right now they should be number four behind Kansas Texas and Kentucky only because they were ranked lower and those teams are still undefeated.

You’re partially right. When Devendorf was there, he was a ball hog, which stalled the team from spreading the ball! But he played defense, almost two steals a game.

ya’ll really think they get overlokked?..im always hearing about how good they are when they are good on espn, cnnsi, and other sports shows and always hearing jim giving interviews to calhurd, dan patrick ,jim rome ….and dhamp you keep bringing up names of guys from my area or i played at camp with ..brings back memories….moten wears the high socks as d.c thing..used to kill out at doc’s gym( best summer run int he world)..and i remeber d.williams at five star..we beat them in the semi finals…it was him troy murphey ron artets von hunter( went to texas then transferred) against me, a big freshman named josh moore( playeed for the clippers for a min he was a 7’1 15 year old) majestic mapp( went to va) and a white kid that went to seton hall)….will never give five star probs ever again after that camp..artets missed the whole camp and only played in that one game but made the allstar game while we went to the title game lost one game and i was second in the camp in scoring…..politics at its finest

This Cuse team doesn’t suffer from the two weaknesses its consistantly had in seasons past. First, the perimeter defenders do a much better job of closing and switching on shooters. They’ve been doing a good job of limiting the easy shots all year, and its in no small part to the length. And second, they pursue rebounds much better. Rick Jackson is a very good defender and rebounder at the college level, and Onuaku has great hands offensively. Joseph is a good combo forward with athleticism, Johnson the versatile wing, Rautins better defensively than given credit for, Triche, a big guard that handles fairly well, but is a good defender, and Jardine, a quick, creative point guard. They’ve beaten three ranked teams and an underrated Cornell team. I think that Cuse will prove themselves as the season progresses.

i think they have proven there selfs. and people have obviously taken notice from that big jump that they had in the polls after the unc game i think….i still find it funny that coach Boheim will not play out of the state in the early season

      1. They have 1 go to guy, Wesley Johnson and nobody will argue that, not Paul Harris, Johnny Flynn, and Devendorf fighting over the ball

      2. They have great length again to make there zone that much more effective, Flynn and Harris were always complaining about wanting to play man to man plus they were undersized, not a criticism of their games just doesnt make the zone effective.

      3. Jackson and Onuaku?sp have greatly improved from last year

      4. they have a bonafide leader in Rautins who isnt afraid of the moment either

The reason they are still getting overlooked a bit in my opinion is the exibition loss to the D2 school is still being held against them to an extent

@ trojans: Onuaku is better than last season……How??????? And Rautins is the leader?????? Since when???????

@quinceyhodges: The last few times you spoken to me, you’ve brought the heat. I like that. Majestic Mapp. That was a bad boy. He tore his ACL TWICE.

Rautins is easily the leader of this team, he knows the system and what coach expects of him and rest of the players. He displays all the leadership qualities a coach and team looks for.

Onuaku and Jackson have become become much more efficient and much more active. I think the athleticism for both has improved and both do a much better of playing the zone and being disruptive on the boards. I’m not saying their stats have improved by leaps and bounds, just saying the little things they contribute now make them a much better team

@dhamp2 steals don’t tell the whole story yes he got some steals but he didn’t close out very well and was lazy on d alot. he was a liability on d all he cared about was getting steals and took a lot of gambles and their zone payed the price but now hes gone.

Trojanans13 you have no clue what you’re talking about. Last season, Onuaku led the nation in field goal percentage. His game has been the same for the past three years, lol. I know, I’ve watched just about every game. You can’t tell me ANYTHING when it comes to Orange basketball. Sorry man. You don’t have a clue.

And birdzilla, I know two steals a game doesn’t constitue good defense, but when was Devo ever lit up by someone. Tell me who they were. I’m waiting……

lol its a zone so you dont really go one on one but teams like Villionova destroyed the weak defensive front of Flynn and Defvendorf thats why he started losing minutes to Rautins. and yeah i was gonna tell trojonjoe about Onuaku leading the nation in field goal percentage too but hes talking about defense and rebounding.

they can run with Kansas but I think Kansas has so much talent inside

also I think Henry, Taylor and Collins can out play the combo of Triche/Jackson and Rautins

Syracuse beat Kansas when it counted….in the national championship!!!!!!! Honestly, it’s a toss up. Syracuse is thin up top and if Onauku or Jackson get into foul trouble, then there’s no one to really back them up. It would be a no name role player with little to no expericnce. Last night, Boheim only played four players.

I still have no clue what tranjoe13 was blabbering about. Obviously he doesn’t watch Orange basketball much, lol.

And Birdzilla…..Devo only lost mins to Rautins last year after the incident with the female student near Christmas. Go back and look at the game logs. Boheim preferred Devo to Rautins.

Onuaku’s offensive game is the same, they play two ends of the court though and Onuaku and Jackson are a lot more active on the defensive end plus adding Johnson’s length and athleticism makes the zone much more effective this year.

Tranjoe13, you’re a clown…Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm………..Onuaku is averaging 3 rebounds and less than one block, both are down from last year…..Any more questions…..Don’t talk about Syracuse basketball anymore until you know what you’re talking about. Foreal. People take SU ball serious. And when it comes to the Orange, I KNOW what I’m talking about.
